Last evening, Hotair and others linked a Brian Ross ABC anti-gun propaganda piece, which claimed Mexicans were coming to the US to buy up certain weapons to bring back to Mexico to be used by drug gangs, cartels and that sort of thing. I suggest that you check out Bob's post at Confederate Yankee for a good critique of this ABC piece, but I want to focus on one part of anti gun propaganda in particular. This line,

Gamers, and really, TV and movie junkies can probably tell you why the Brady Campaign fears the Five-seveN and PS90 too. Its because they're frequently featured in TV and movies, but probably most frequently seen in video games. Off the top of my head, I know that the Five-seveN was in Resident Evil 4, called the Punisher, and Solidus Snake carried the P90 (the automatic military version of the rifle) in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. I understand the P90 is also featured in the Stargate TV series. I know the P90 is in the FPS Counterstrike, or at least is in one or some of its countless mods. Here, even this flash game has a Five-seveN and P90. I'm sure I've missed games that they appear on, but I have a laptop and Wii, so there isn't much FPS action for me as of late, which means I've probably missed it unless there's a cheat in Mario Galaxy that gives you one.
That is why they fear the Five-seveN, and have been so aggressive in demagoguing against it, because it is hugely popular in pop culture, and the opportunity for yoots who spend a lot of time playing video games and surfing the tubes to turn into young adults with Five-seveNs and PS90's scares the hell out of them. They know that pro-Second people own the internet, and they are losing people my age because they can't compete in the marketplace of ideas online, and that pesky First Amendment won't let them do anything about it.

Hotair has this piece Hitch wrote for the Mirror linked in their headlines. Hitch states the obvious in that Obama got his ass handed to him here in PA after spending an obscene amount of money here. Hethen gives way too much credit to the Clinton campaign in their exploitation of the Bitter comments. And then,

Bob Casey might have gotten a small number of voters for Obama, but nothing near what he would have needed to even make it close. Hitch either got that from someone who was swooning under the spell of Obamania, or read a really crappy analysis.
But here is why I'm even writing this,
The Pope? Really Hitch? Really? *sigh* The Pope had zero effect on the PA primary, none, and that isn't difficult to tell. The key demographic that crushed Obama here were blue collar white Democrats, who tend to be pro-2nd Amendment and social conservatives in PA, that a lot of them are Catholic is incidental. Don't buy the hype.
Obama did so poorly with those voters because he is the poster child of the New Left. The PA Democrats that broke so heavily for Hillary are not of the New Left. They'll only take so much New Left crap before they bail and go for the Republican. These voters are going to vote for who is the lesser threat to their lifestyle. The New Republic and I both recognized this a few days ago.
When Obama showed open disdain for PA's religious culture and strong gun culture like he did, he made himself the bigger threat to their lifestyles. PA voters outside of the Soviet of Philly are pro-2nd and socially conservative, they have long been that way, and will likely stay that way.
Obama clearly didn't understand that, and shows no desire to understand it. That makes him very dangerous in the eyes of PA voters. It'll make winning the election nearly impossible for Obama, because Democrats usually need to win PA in order to win the election, and he can't do it.
These voters weren't shamed or influenced into voting a certain way by the Pope, Hitch needs to chill with his war on religion nonsense, it is definitely starting to effect his thinking in an ill way.

Also a good post there on the NYT attacking Hillary, and on Hillary acting as a spoiler to help McCain. As pitiful a candidate as McCain is, he could use that help.
Answer, they can't. The Democrats are in a really bad spot. If Hillary loses, but the superdelegates break for her because she has a better chance of winning in the general, there'll be riots in the convention. If Obama wins it, he isn't gonna win in PA and I think it'd be surprising if he took Ohio. If Hillary wins legit, which is really unlikely, and Obama refuses the VP slot, I think the black vote and some of the starry eyed Obama cultists stay home. The only really bad scenario is if Hillary gets the nomination, and Obama accepts the VP.
Crossover votes broke for Obama. I'm not surprised, Obama is critically weak in PA, and bitter Pennsylvanians know that Democrats don't win without PA.

They had a sleazy guy named Matt Shaner who was pounding TV and radio with ads. We were getting them here, and I'm in D-10. Thompson had a pitiful budget and still won.
As for my district, Chris Hackett won, which is who I supported. There was a debate where Hackett stated he wasn't going to pursue pork money. Meuser said hell yeah I'm pursuing pork money. I went with the anti-pork guy, and we got it. Hackett also had more of the right endorsements and sounded a little less like he was throwing out boilerplate crap and offering the real thing.
The GOP lost PA D-10 in a fluke, Don Sherwood decided to have an affair and was accused of choking his mistress in an argument, so we should be able to get it back, D-10 is a conservative district.

bitter pennsylvanian votes in pa primary
I don't think I ever publicly announced my plans for voting this year, whether I crossed over to see what havoc I could help sow in Operation Chaos, or if I would stay registered GOP in order to vote for the Congressional primary. So, here's the picture of who I voted for...

thirty one people shot, two stabbed this weekend in chicago
Damn guys, that's impressive, Detroit, LA, DC and Philly better watch out, or Chicago is gonna take the title of Biggest Hellhole in America. Six of the people shot were killed. I was gonna ignore this and just chalk it up to being a crime-ridden Marxist hellhole, but I noticed something, there's this,

You'll also notice if you read the article, the AK is the only weapon mentioned by name. Why don't they tell us what the other guns that need to be banned are? The AK was only used in one shooting, what about the others, or were they those hunting guns you say you support the right to own?

an update on the maryland rino brigades
You guys remember this story? In Maryland, some RINO tool was successfully challenged and beaten in the GOP primary by conservative Maryland state Senator Andy Harris. As a result, a bunch of the RINO's supporters threatened to abandon the GOP and work on the Democrat's campaign. Well, there's an update, and sure enough, the ousted RINO's campaign director is working for the Democrat, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more follow suit.
This is exactly why I'm in no mood to be told to fall in line by anyone, for anyone. Conservatives are always expected to sell ourselves out to RINOs, but if a RINO is asked to do the same, the RINO scurries over to the Marxist side faster than you can blink.
Harris' campaign site is here, if you have a few shekels rattling in your pocket you can let go, you know what to do.

eu nannies try and impose noise regulation on bagpipers
I hope the Scots and Irish tell the EU to get fucked sideways, and play the pipes as loud as they can. Enough of this bullshit. Bagpipes played at full volume are hella loud, about 122 decibels. So basically, this thing is a safety regulation, the EU wants to force pipers to either wear earplugs when they play or play quieter. The EU needs to be told to stuff it when they start screwing with old traditions like this.

obama the firebug
It hit me this morning. When it comes to burning bridges that matter, Obama's a real firebug.
A few weeks ago, NYMag had a story explaining why John Edwards hadn't made an endorsement, which I covered. Camp Edwards never liked the Clintons because of their corporate and lobbyist ties. Beyond that, the NYMag article reported that Elizabeth hates Hillary. So they were somewhat more inclined to support Obama.
Obama missed that opportunity. NYMag reported,
Obama? Glib and aloof, you say? I'd have never guessed. Hillary, on the other hand, was gracious and respectful toward Edwards after he ended his campaign, and again when they met in a second meeting, and managed to mend some fences with Camp Edwards. Obama's first meeting with Edwards after he dropped out of the presidential race wasn't what destroyed the Edwards endorsement for Obama, his second meeting did that,

So, why does the Silky endorsement matter? What was Edward's base of support? Poor whites, blue-collar workers, unions and the labor vote, right? There is likely overlap between Edward's key demographics and those Obama alienated with the now famous Bitter comments. Edwards could have been able to advise Obama on how to finesse his way through problems he already has with that demographic. At the very least, Silky could have performed damage control for Obama after the Bitter disaster, or maybe have kept Obama from making that mistake in the first place.
As it is, Obama is probably not going to be able to gain good traction with this demographic, and as I noted (and oddly enough, TNR), this demographic problem is going to be a major hurdle for Obama in PA and other states, and quite possibly possibly an insurmountable one.

discovery channel caught using creative editing and re-enactments on 'deadliest catch'?
Discovery seems to be trying to finesse this, and I can understand why. Deadliest Catch is popular because it has a reputation as a real recounting of the lives of Alaskan crab fishermen. There aren't a lot of shows that offer exciting real life events like Deadliest Catch, and there is obviously a taste for this sort of show.
It isn't the first time Discovery has gotten in trouble over accusations of fudging on the authenticity of their shows. Man Vs. Wild, another Discovery show received similar criticism a few years ago.

The Pope warns against undermining the UN, which you can pretty much read as criticizing the US for the tendency to engage in unilateral action. You can argue against Iraq, but I'm damned tired of hearing the bitching about American unilateralism. You want Americans to stop acting unilaterally? Then tell everyone else to do something for once! He says,
