My God, if we had any spine at all, we could wipe out Al Qaeda et al in a long weekend. (And by "spine" I mean willing to go to war like pretty much every war in the history of the world until Viet Nam.)
It's all fun and games until someone loses a leg.
You've probably already seen the story at Rantburg, From Jan. 24 to Feb. 14, a total of 17 suicide bombers took aim at one
coalition member after another but failed to kill any of them,
according to a compilation of reports from Afghan police and military
officials, and from the American-led International Security Assistance
Force.
Heh. The best suicide bombers kill only themselves. "So since you think we know about it, why tell us again? Are you trying to get a link exchange or something?" you ask?
First off, don't talk to me that way. Second, there's an update.
One of the the Jawas (Abu Fatima is his anti-Jihad name) found a truly brutal clip, description below the fold. It's seriously brutal (Yes, I would kid you, but not this time). I'm not into snuff videos, but these are the kind I'd like to see prospective jihadis saw, the ones where you get no virgins. Allah doesn't pay off on "try". more...
Gita Sahgal, head of the gender unit at Amnesty’s international
secretariat, believes that collaborating with Moazzam Begg, a former
British inmate at Guantanamo Bay, “fundamentally damages” the
organisation’s reputation.
In an email sent to Amnesty’s top
bosses, she suggests the charity has mistakenly allied itself with Begg
and his “jihadi” group, Cageprisoners, out of fear of being branded racist and Islamophobic.
Sahgal describes Begg as “Britain’s most famous supporter of the Taliban”. He
has championed the rights of jailed Al-Qaeda members and hate
preachers, including Anwar al-Awlaki, the alleged spiritual mentor of
the Christmas Day Detroit plane bomber.
Amnesty’s work with Cageprisoners took it to Downing Street last month to demand the closure of Guantanamo Bay. Begg has also embarked on a European tour, hosted by Amnesty,
urging countries to offer safe haven to Guantanamo detainees. This is
despite concerns about former inmates returning to terrorism.
Sahgal,
who has researched religious fundamentalism for 20 years, has decided
to go public because she feels Amnesty has ignored her warnings for the
past two years about the involvement of Begg in the charity’s Counter
Terror With Justice campaign.
“I believe the campaign
fundamentally damages Amnesty International’s integrity and, more
importantly, constitutes a threat to human rights,” Sahgal wrote in an email to the organisation’s leaders on January 30. “To
be appearing on platforms with Britain’s most famous supporter of the
Taliban, whom we treat as a human rights defender, is a gross error of
judgment.”
I mean, seriously. Is it any shock anymore that a leftitst peacenik group would be more willing to aid terrorists than care for the women, gays, and other folks who suffer under the thumb of such goatfuckers? These people are not just some easily duped, naive (hello, Jacob Weisberg!) dreamers. They are fucking aiding and abetting terrorism. They are aiding the imprisonment and torture of minorities and less powerful. And they are fucking scum who need to be marginalized.

Ok I know this is offtopic (and I'll cheerfully accept my beatings later), but please please please... I've never understood something and I need someone to explain this to me:
Oner Ceylan of Istanbul's gay rights group Lambda says it's a landmark case.
Why is the Greek letter Lambda associated with gay groups? Why not Alpha or Tau or Psi? Why Lambda?

4Why is the Greek letter Lambda associated with gay groups?
It was originally used by the GAA (iirc) in early 70's. The reason behind using a greek letter was for purposefully confusion with fraternity symbols so as to prevent gay bashing. In the last 70's (again from memory) it was adopted as an official symbol by some international gay rights group.
There's a lot of speculation as to why lambda but there's no definitive answer. The main rationale is for the connection with liberation.

I was thinking maybe it had to do with the empty set connotation (no kids) or the statistical variance meaning (outside the norm).
That was a joke - I don't have any idea why lambda is associated with gay groups but those two seemed like a funny fit.

Color me shocked.
Crotch bomber pleas not guilty at his first court appearance. Not because he pleas not guilty, but because he pleas nothing at all; hence, the court pleas not guilty for him. Obama's tactic of miranidizing terrorists is super-win. Just you wait and see.
Yes, go ahead and make a mockery of our justice system. Just run it into the ground by letting people WHO WANT TO KILL US AND OUR CHILDREN plead not guilty despite the fact that there are multiple witnesses.
What a fucking joke these keystone cops are...a fucking joke. The terrorists are LAUGHING at this idiot POTUS. What a bunch of boobs!!!
This is for keeps, guys. Not a video game. Not a paper done in college for a professor who fawns all over every word you say. It's the REAL DEAL.

More On That Amsterdam To Detroit Flight
You mean to tell me that the guy who tried to blow up the plane flying to Detroit was indeed Muslim and may have had some ties to London (a hotspot of Radicalism in the West) and Engineering Schools (the degree of choice for terrorists), and was not some homeless goat farmer from Gaza? Color me shocked.
obviously, the Dutch Security didn't do a good enough job screening this guy.
And yet people from other countries bitch and complain that American security screening is too strict and annoying. I'll spend an extra hour at security and spend the $5 on a coke on the other side to avoid getting blown up. Maybe that's just me.

That is freakin' money. But seriously, as long as you don't have any right wing extremist on your plane, you should be okay. Look for anybody that might be a veteran or anyone with an NRA hat. Notify security if you see any of those potential man caused disasters.

Ramin Pourandarjani, a doctor at
Kahrizak, later testified to a parliamentary committee and reportedly
told them that a young protester he treated died from severe torture.
He said he was also forced by security officials to list the cause of
death as meningitis, according to opposition Web sites.
Pourandarjani died on Nov. 10 in mysterious circumstances, with authorities initially saying he was in a car accident, had a heart attack or committed suicide.
Forensic tests showed that the doctor died of "poisoning by drugs" that
matched doses of propranolol found in a salad that was delivered to
him, Dowlatabadi said Tuesday. "A large number of these pills must be
used for a person to pass away from them," he said.
Propranolol is used to treat high blood pressure, rapid heart rate and tremors, and can be lethal in high doses.
The restaurant delivery man told investigators that he gave the salad
directly to Pourandarjani and described how the doctor took it from him
at the door of his room, then closed the door behind him, Dowlatabadi
said. The delivery man is not under arrest, he said.

One does, after all, sincerely hope he won't be able to walk "in the future." One hopes he'll be supine. As in horizontal. As in executed, actually. As in buried and dead, if you will (and which order doesn't really matter to me).

With regard to comments like Eddie's, I wonder too. Since he was a "soldier" and unfortunately did not die, I am pretty sure we are going to get stuck paying for this asshole's medical bills, rehabilitation, wheel chairs, future surgeries and probably constant care.
It makes me sick. I was upset when I found out he was alive. Wait for the freak show trial. Get your barf bags ready.

Ex-soldier or not, he is a prisoner, which means he gets the best healthcare for free that this country has to offer. Remeber, folks, the prisoners at Guantanamo got swine flu vaccinations while pregnant women here in the states got told to wait a bit and see.
We are a civilized society, which means we don't let our prisoners suffer without healthcare while they are wards of the state.
Which pretty much sums up why I think they should have killed him when they had the chance. "Two more" indeed.

The chemicals bought were similar to those used to make the 2005 London Tube and bus explosives which killed 52 people.
Zazi, from Denver, Colorado, is understood to have been given instructions by a senior member of al Qaeda in Pakistan over the internet.
US authorities allegedly found bomb-making instructions on his laptop and his fingerprints on batteries and measuring scales they seized.
A phone containing footage of New York's Grand Central Station, thought to have been made by him during a visit a week before his arrest, was also found along with explosive residue. Zazi was also said by informants to have attended a terrorist training camp in Pakistan.
The alleged plot was unmasked after an email address that was being monitored as part of the abortive Operation Pathway was suddenly reactivated.
Operation Pathway was investigating an alleged UK terrorist cell but went awry after the then Met Police counter-terrorism head Bob Quick was pictured walking into Downing Street displaying top secret documents.
Eleven Pakistani suspects were arrested immediately after the gaffe but later released without charge.
However, security staff continued to monitor the email address which eventually yielded results.
The British discovery also came at just the right time – the US had threatened to sever intelligence links over the release of Lockerbie bomber Al Megrahi.
A British security source told The Sun: "This was excellent work and highlights the fact we produce good information.
"(The US authorities) were delighted with the intelligence we gave them and believe it helped prevent a catastrophic attack."

Well, for those hoping for a life sentence over a death sentence, UCMJ does provide for the death penalty for murder with aggravating circumstances (which this fits), but must be approved by the POTUS hisself. And what are the odds that our current occupant will do that?
But for those who worry that if he IS given the death penalty that it will take decades to happen, UCMJ is NOT normal criminal procedure. Once sentenced, he gets one (at most two appeals) for cause, then off he goes. So IF the President approves it, he'll be gone within two or three years.

The suicide bomber detonated outside a security checkpoint near the Kamra Air Weapon Complex in the district of Attock, Geo News reported. Three security personnel and four civilians were killed in the blast, and 12 more were wounded.
The attack is the latest in a string of suicide strikes and military
assaults by the Taliban against Pakistan's security forces, the
government, and civilians. Today the Taliban assassinated a senior
general and his driver near the general's home in Islamabad. Yesterday
the Taliban conducted a dual suicide attack at Islamic International
University in Islamabad. The Taliban has announced it is at war with
the state so long as South Waziristan remains under military siege.
The Kamra Air Weapon Complex is one of three military industrial production facilities in the Wah Cantt, according to Global Security.
The Pakistani Ordnance Factories, a collection of 14 factories that
produce arms and ammunition for the Pakistani armed forces, and Heavy
Industries Taxila are also contained within the Wah Cantt. More than
40,000 Pakistanis are employed at the factories.
Kamra is believed to be connected with Pakistan's nuclear weapons
program. The Pakistani Ordnance Factories are believed to store nuclear
weapons at a "screwdriver level" - meaning the components are stored
disassembled and can be assembled within hours of needed use.

I Guess It Was OK, So Long As They Didn't Burn Those Crosses
Wow. I knew that Sudan was so fucked up, basket cases call up to tell them to straighten their shit out. But this is fucking ridiculous.
Marauding bands of guerrillas have "crucified" seven Christians
during a series of raids on villages in Sudan, with one man tied to a
tree and mutilated while six other victims were nailed to pieces of wood and killed.
Villagers who found their bodies near the town of Nzara said it was like a "grotesque crucifixion scene", the Catholic Herald reports {as opposed to a clean one?-ed}.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio is appealing for
international help to stop the cycle of violence and attacks by members
of the Lord's Resistance Army, saying the government at home appeared powerless against it.
No, Bishop. I hate to say it, but I get the feeling that the "government" of Sudan, as awful as it is, probably condones, or will at least look the other way, as this savagery happens. And you know what is odd? Suddenly, leftarded Hollywood types don't seem too interested in Sudan anymore. It's almost as though something happened within the last year or so to change their minds.
