Oh, Mickey, you're so...dead

Let's play a little game, shall we? I'm going to redact a certain word from this part of a story that appeared in the UK's Telegraph. See if you can guess what the word is.  This will be fun!

"According to _______ law, the mouse is a repulsive, corrupting creature. How do you think children view mice today – after Tom and Jerry?

"Even creatures that are repulsive by nature, by logic, and according to _______ law have become wonderful and are loved by children. Even mice.

"Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to _______ law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases."

I'll give you three guesses about what I gave the ol' snippety-snip to, and the first two don't count.
