Actually, I'd say it is more important to keep enough non-sellout GOPers in Congress to filibuster and foil any attempt to do this.

Heh, Scott McClellan is a tool, but I don't know why people are getting so worked up about him, Bush was dumb enough to hire him, and we always knewMcClellan was a sniveling, incompetent little tool. No one should be surprised by the his conduct, I mean honestly, are any of you really surprised the pusillanimous toad is doing what he's doing? I'm not.

More on the Yemeni journalist. Question, when is the State Department going to say something?
Bad idea for Rachael Ray. I have a good idea for Rachael Ray, STFU and GTFO! Cancel her show and show reruns of Good Eats.
Told you McClellan was just a chump. He isn't worth getting annoyed about.
BILLY MAYS HERE!
When history dorks attack! Zarvin? Who the hell names their kid Zarvin?
Depressing.
Awesome.
The latest from Wack Jack Thompson, this time we get to see the list of witnesses he wants called, including the head of Take Two Interactive, the makers of the GTA series, Governor Jeb Bush and some local shock jock.
More about screwy Fr. Pfleger.
Al Gore Sr.'s cattle drive.
"Recount" tanks.
Oh, that sucks...well, I guess it doesn't now.
More leftist antisemitism.
Operation Drill Bit.
Nigel thinks he has a future recruit for the Moronosphere. Be sure to say a little prayer for the kid.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio sets up a donation fund after the governor cuts his funds for his illegal immigration enforcement program.
This anti-cluster bomb thing is such a stupid charade. I guarantee that if the US and Israel signed on and nations like Russia and China didn't, we'd never hear another word about the cluster bombs. We know what the game is here.
I pretty much think this is what we're dealing with in Iran.

The greatest threat to classic Republicanism is not liberalism; it's this new brand of libertarianism, which is social liberalism and economic conservatism, but it's a heartless, callous, soulless type of economic conservatism because it says "look, we want to cut taxes and eliminate government. If it means that elderly people don't get their Medicare drugs, so be it. If it means little kids go without education and healthcare, so be it."
Amazing, what a vile smear of economic conservatism and libertarianism. Hucktard, as he is wont to do, dips into the rhetoric of the left yet again. We constantly hear this slander, that those who want to end big entitlement spending want little old ladies to go without their meds, and children without health care and education. Bullshit. Utter fucking bullshit, and I'm fucking tired of hearing it. It is nothing but a rotten straw man.
Most of those who want to reduce entitlements wish to do so because the government does such as piss poor job of administering them, and think that by eliminating those programs and reducing government spending and regulation, we can better help those who need help.
By ending the government programs, dismantling the criminally wasteful bureaucracy, cutting taxes, cutting spending and deregulating the market, we can give individuals, churches(emphasized since Huck wears his faith on his sleeve), businesses and charities the room they need to not only replace the social program run by the government, but to far outperform it in carrying out those tasks. There is nothing heartless about that, if anything, it is more compassionate than the inefficient big government programs Hucktard advocates.
Well, that might be a quote pure economic conservative message, but it's not an American message.
If you have a breakdown in the social structure of a community, it's going to result in a more costly government ... police on the streets, prison beds, court costs, alcohol abuse centers, domestic violence shelters, all are very expensive. What's the answer to that? Cut them out? Well, the libertarians say "yes, we shouldn't be funding that stuff." But what you've done then is exacerbate a serious problem in your community. You can take the cops off the streets and just quit funding prison beds. Are your neighborhoods safer? Is it a better place to live? The net result is you have now a bigger problem than you had before.
Yeah, where does the breakdown in community and family come from? GOVERNMENT! Government has done more to destroy the social fabric of a community than any other force in the nation. In the past, we built much bonds with our communities and families because we had to, we didn't have a massive government that took over responses every problem in the community. Congrats Mike, you fucking dunce, you're trying to cure an illness by treating the symptoms, not the root cause.
This is something the social conservatives, and the religious right in particular need to understand, when they seek to use government to enact their policies, they just undermine themselves. They might not like that people are free to reject their views, but the alternative is much, much worse.
If the religious right and people like Mike Huckabee think they will successfully usurp government as a means to use it as a bludgeon to enforce their worldview, they will not only fail, but they may give the left what it needs to push us into a Marxist system where they will find their lifestyle, culture, values and beliefs under siege in ways they thought they'd never see in the United States, and all of us who value our liberty may be dragged down with them. Mike Huckabee and his big Nanny State government is bad news, and the religious right is going to be led to ruin if they follow his lead.

McCain's campaign has no unifying message, he has no vision or coherent philosophy, and now in the process of gutting his campaign of lobbyists (wonder if Juan Hernandez is among them...doubt it) after a few embarrassing stories, and he has no base support or money. Where is he going to get money, workers or volunteers?
The base isn't going to give those to him, and moderates aren't going to give those to him either, and now he's obviously going to be limited in what he gets from lobbyists, considering he's kicked them out of his camp. Demographics or Obama's Marxist lunacy may save McCain, but if the wheels completely come off the Straight Talk Express, not even that will save him.
Update: See what I mean?

In any case, some background on the not-so-good reverend. In the early 90's, Pfleger and his parishioners pushed out shops selling drug paraphernalia. Fine, and it sounds great, but for every thing that Pfleger does that may be good, there is tendency to dip into thuggish behavior on others, when taken with his rhetoric, it shows his true nature as an authoritarian Marxist.
After the parish drove out these shops, they then moved to pushing out alcohol and tobacco ads. Which would be fine if he had stopped at boycotts and social pressure, but when the advertisers wouldn't leave, he and his parishioners took to vandalizing billboards and signs. And of course, because this is the Soviet of Chicago, which is a city of men, not of law, he was acquitted. After that, the City of Chicago moved to ban tobacco and alcohol ads in select neighborhoods in a nearly unanimous motion.
Perhaps the most infamous of Michael Pfleger's antics is his continued harassment and death threat(link to audio in that post) against a gun shop owner. In his threat, Pfleger stated the following,
"We're going to find you and snuff you out. Like a rat you're going to hide. But like a rat, we're going to catch you and pull you out."
Then consider this line from Pfleger, during his efforts to go after rappers who use vulgar lyrics(emphasis mine),
"When you disrespect women and you continue to demean a community or race by names and by language, that's unacceptable. . . . We can kill with our words."
Pfleger has pretty much been free to do as he wants, the Cardinal of Chicago refuses to crack down on this dirtbag, beyond a few weak slaps on the wrist for some of Pfleger's most egregious behavior, he has been absolutely impotent in his handling of Pfleger.
This guy is going to be every bit the goldmine of choice quotes as Wright was. He's probably as nutty as Wright, and much more aggressive. Allah has a few video clips, and I'm guessing there are plenty more where that came from. I hope the GOP uses these to full effect, Pfleger and Obama go way back (H/T), not as close as Obama's relationship with Wright, but this guy and his big fat mouth will be handy.

PSA on the Blogrolling, I'm still looking for an alternate for Wordpress because the script I gave you won't work. Or, if someone has found a workaround to make Wordpress take the Blogrolling roll, do let us know how.
An update on Stash's adoption adventures. Let's hope this goes well.
The latest on Wack Jack Thompson.
Garrison Keillor decides to stir a little Andy Rooney-style old man griping about things he doesn't like or care for into his normal liberal-tinged dull, faux whimsy bullshit he puts forth. His target? The Rolling Thunder Rally. What a tool.
Gross.
Indeed, British society is going backward in a frightening way, and has for a while, I linked a story in links yesterday where British "academics" tried to bar Jews who support Israel from working in universities. Earlier, I linked a story in links that pretty much describes segregation.
Interesting documentary.
It'll be interesting to see how McClellan's book gets used by historians. I think hope that historians give proper consideration to McClellan's interests in trashing the Bush administration. I think the guy had no real future, was clearly incompetent as the White House spokesman (seriously, compare him to Tony Snow, or hell, even Ari Fleischer), and decided to cash in on the cottage industry built around trashing Bush.
And on a similar note, Geoff asks a very good question to those angry by McClellan's betrayal, are you really mad at him, or are you or should you be mad at Bush? I'm not at all angered by McClellan, because as I state above, I think from his perspective, he was going nowhere careerwise, and decided to cash in by trashing Bush. And I agree with Geoff, it is ultimately Bush's fault, he is really bad when it comes to choosing staff, and this is just the latest confirmation of that fact. Slublog's take on McClellan.
That Afghan dirtbag who killed his sister in an "honor killing," may have also drugged another Afghan woman, raped her and then bragged about it online.
This kinda works, the problem is that when I was a young kid, I played with Apple II and IIe, and played with games like Oregon Trail, but my intarwebs experience starts in the late Netscape/Myst era. So does that make me the early era or the latter?
Fun.
Yeah, sorry McCain, the base isn't going to get energized when you remain hellbent on kicking sand in their faces. About right.
More GOP incompetence.
They really don't want to see us increase our fuel supplies.
More peaceful antiwar protesters...b-b-b-b-but, I thought they wanted the troops to be home, and love the troops but hate the war!!!1!1
This practice is less about anti-police bias, and more about ignorance and a jaded view of firearms amongst reporters, enhanced by their own leftist viewpoints and ignorance. We all know the saying that exists in the field of journalism, "if it bleeds it leads," its true, and its unsurprising that they hate guns and weapons, much of their reporting is about violence. It has to skew your worldview and make you think that every there are OK Corral shootouts breaking out all over the place.
Stupid Amnesty International...
Yeah, I really want the government running everything.
Heh.

First, a Moronosphere PSA, Conservative Belle is handing off the blogroll to me, so we had to create a new Moronosphere blogroll. You can still use the old code, but it probably ain't gonna update anymore. Anyway, here be the new blogroll code, you can clicky and it should display, no it isn't goatse, you spaz, click the damned thing.
Second, I'm updating the site, which means I'll have to do some tweaking...
New movies suck.
McClellan was a sniveling tool with no future, a terrible White House spokesman, what else was he going to do but cash in on the cottage industry built around trashing Bush?
Check out Sockless Joe's post at The Next Right. I also believe Ruwe is writing there too, I think I saw his name and this post in the recent updates.
Oh, great, black zombies, time for N'gai Croal to cry racism, right?
Welcome home!
Heh.
Fun with "As seen on TV" products.
McCain or Obama, we're not sure which yet, "Bend over, America!" Somewhat related.
I'm almost inclined to say this is disrespectful to gays who were persecuted or killed by the Nazis. I would think you would want to create something a little more solemn for a memorial.
I've seen a few versions of this, they're all pretty horrifying.
Bunch of stupid hippie luddites. Hey MP, you ought to take the muffler off your UHaul to pick up their slack.
I linked this a few days ago, and I still haven't taken it...lotta 95%.
I totally use some of my email accounts as storage.
Interesting. The Mormons like doing their genealogy thing, and they've created a SETI at Home/Folding at Home type system to convert scanned images into type.
Moonbat wants to arrest John Bolton's 'stashe.
Wait, they aren't blaming Global WarmingTM for this?
Sully deconstructed.
Of course, it is the Soviet of Philly after all, and besides, their answer to rampant crime is to try and pass gun bans that will be struck down by the courts because it is in direct violation of PA constitutional gun law.
Neat concept.
Pretty much, not that we don't have a lot of people like that in the US too, but the Brits have it worse. Okay, we joke about the Brit descent into Nanny Fascist madness, but they're moving into real deal fascism, at least in academia. What, are you "academics" going to make them wear patches next?
DIY drilling.
ZOMG ENERGY DRINKS MAKE YOU HAVE UNSAFE SEX AND ACT VIOLENT!1!11eleventy!1
Heh, I like this Klaus guy.
Wow, I can't believe the Chinese accepted recovery help from Japan.

Never a good sign, check out this out, a screencap of the GOP website, where Barack Obama's name is mentioned ten times. How many mentions for McCain? Nada. Any talk of ideas and core principles of the GOP? Nah, not really. It is basically a bunch of talking points and swipes at Obama, and that they have nothing but to talk about the other guy is not a good thing.
The elite of the GOP pretty much stand for nothing, and it shows, Tom Cole on Fox News Sunday rejected forswearing earmarks, but said they've got some token squishy, mildly, vaguely anti-pork legislation, and are waiting to hear from the Democrats before they pursue it. Are you effing kidding me? You're waiting for the Democrats to approve it? And yes, earmarks are a tiny fraction of a giant problem, but they've become a symbolic issue, not unlike the border fence.
They just have nothing left in their arsenal but to fling poo at Obama like a bunch of monkeys, and hope it smells enough to drive him away. At this point, the same criticism Rush Limbaugh has attacked Democrats for, that "they seek power solely for power's sake" is almost equally as true of the GOP elite. Not good at all.
(H/T Conservative Belle)
Also of note, sounds like Mitch McConnell's Senate seat may be in trouble. This kinda makes me think of Tom Foley, the Democrat House Speaker who lost his seat in 1994. This is a bad sign, or maybe a good sign if you think we need to see this kind of purge of our leadership this fall.
And there is some good news too. Kleptocrat Don Young of Alaska is vulnerable to a much better candidate, the current Alaska Lt. Governor Sean Parnell.

Britain is hopeless, absolutely hopeless. We've got to keep this kind of malignant Nanny State from taking root any more than it has in the US.
FAIL
Interesting thought.
It probably won't be Pawlenty.
Heh, our media will propagandize enough to make Pravda blush this year. Related, and funny.
The one thing McCain has going for him is demographics, and oddly enough, I think that might be enough to carry him.
Old Iron wants to know what there is to do in Wisconsin. I dunno, drink beer and eat cheese?
Pykrete is interesting stuff.
$300K for that thing?
I think Carter made the leap from pest to traitor a good while ago, but here's the latest shitty thing he's done.

Here are some links that may be of interest to you this Memorial weekend. Jonn, an Army veteran with at least one son serving in the armed forces, has some good photos he took at this year's Rolling Thunder, and links to a site that allows vets to search an online database of the Vietnam War Memorial roll to leave remembrances of their fellow servicemen. The Jawas link to an effort called the Gratitude Campaign, which is encouraging people to thank our servicemen for their sacrifice when they see them returning from deployment, or see them on the streets. In spite of my severe shyness, I do manage to give my thanks to people I see in uniform that I see on the street, so it can be done.
I thank all those that have served and defended our nation, and I'm keeping those who have given everything for us and their loved ones in my thoughts and prayers throughout this Memorial Day weekend.

d. Health Care Republicans, barely and in spite of themselves. I'm looking at you Bush, Mr. gigantic prescription drug plan to buy old people votes that failed miserably!
e. Federal Spending Neither, they both suck the barbed cock of Satan equally on spending
f. Social Security Neither, because the GOP is too pussy to even try to partially privatize, offer an opt-out or reform Social Security
g. National Defense Republicans, in spite of their refusal to make efforts to step up immigration enforcement and border security, despite the fact that part of the reason the 9/11 hijackers were able to succeed was because they could violate immigration law with impunity
h. Foreign Policy Republicans
i. Environment Neither, because both are pimping retarded "green" money sinks like ethanol and fucking windmills that just end up costing people a mint. We should be building nuclear reactors and deregulating to free up businesses to invest in modernizing and becoming more efficient
j. Economy Neither, neither party knows what the fuck it's doing with regards to the economy

a. Strongly confident
b. Not too confident
c. Somewhat confident Who knows, anything can happen in the short term, the market has good times and bad, I'm more worried about the incompetence of the federal government finally getting the better of our economy in the long term. The American economy is a truly wondrous thing, amazingly powerful in spite of everything the government has done to drain it of its strength through irresponsible governing, acting as a malevolent parasite or actively trying to destroy it.

a. Yes
b. No
c. Undecided
d. Free up the market, lower taxes and reduce regulation, welcome immigrants with medical backgrounds, and let charities do the rest. Liberals should be first in line to start building and donating to those charitable trusts for the uninsured, since they care so much.
Is this a loaded question? Sounds to me like it. Yes meaning go along with a socialized medicine plan, but try and make it more of a squishy Romneycare thing as opposed to a Stalinist Hillarycare plan. No means he's a meeeean ol' wingnut who wants children to go without care and die in the streets. Undecided means hurrrr, I'ma go lick this window now.
7. How do you think Congress should best address the looming Social Security crisis
a. Raise the retirement age for today's workers

b. Greater investment in Wind/Solar power Since I've already thrown out their system, fucking zero
c. More funds for alternative energy research Joe in comments made a good point, we ought to be researching alternative energy, just none of the half-baked hippie crap, we want fucking fusion! And with that, I humbly replace my Zero with an 11, but on the condition it all goes to fusion research or something that might actually work, not hippie windmills and solar panels, unless they're on a space based energy collection station or something badass like that...

What does "bring it under control" mean? That is so purposely vague, nice try suckers.
16. Do you believe the Republican Party should continue to embrace social issues
a. Yes
b. No
c. Undecided
Are we talking Nanny State Morality policing, or efforts to prevent the left from destroying traditional society with it's brand of Nanny State badness?
If yes please register your opinion on the following issues (1 = support, 2 = Oppose, 3= No Opinion)
a. School Prayer Privatize schools or allow vouchers, problem solves itself.
b. Faith Based Initiatives No, absolutely a bad idea, get government out of the churches and synagogues, cut taxes so individuals may make the contributions they wish to make
c. Ban Burning of the Flag As much as it aggravates me when some hippie douchebag torches Old Glory, it would aggravate me more to bar that kind of expression.
d. Ban All Abortions *sigh* I'm fairly pro-life, but this is a loaded question or demagoguery, even the Catholic Church allows for a few extreme emergency cases for terminating a pregnancy.
e. Ban Human Cloning Okay, this one you have me on board with, the last thing we need is a bunch of cloned trustafarians, hipsters and hippies walking around...
f. Prohibit Homosexual Marriage How about government getting out of the marriage game altogether?
g. Other__________ How about keeping the Nanny State at bay? Keep them away from our guns, booze, tobacco, businesses, food, cars, churches, organizations, entertainment and bedrooms
National Defense

a. Yes but I think immigration enforcement and border security are just as important partly for national security reasons.
b. No
c. Undecided
2. As a voter where do you put the status of the War on Terror as a factor in deciding how you will vote in the 2008 elections
a. The war will be a very big factor
b. The war will be somewhat a factor Winning the War on Terror is only worthwhile if we can maintain our liberty as we do it.
c. The war will not be a big factor
d. Don't Know
3. Which party do you think has a stronger message to take into the 2008 elections when it comes to the War on Terror
a. The Republican policy of stabilizing Iraq and handing over military duties as the Iraqi government gains strength
b. The Democrat policy of "cut and run" bringing our troops home immediately and leaving Iraq in the hands of terrorists
c. Undecided
Yawn...here we go with the talking points, do you want to survey, or do you want to rattle off talking points? We did this last time too, but I have to say, you did much better than last time in that regard. Okay, okay, yes teacher, I want the US to win in Iraq...
Well that was fun, wasn't it? Honestly, even if I was completely content with the GOP's performance, I'd probably still be pretty smartassed in my answering, just because they're usually kinda dumb or try and lead you to the answers they want. It just so happened that these surveys have been while the GOP has been effing up supremely.

Today the Phoenix spacecraft is scheduled to land on the surface of Mars, Peel has some information about it and some of the other spacecraft we've sent there, and McGoo has the NASA schedule link and where they'll be doing video coverage, some smut, some other random stuff and a picture of the Russian dildocopter.
I generally agree with this, focusing only or too heavily on microtrends is a bad idea, you still need a good narrative, a good philosophy, and a good candidate. Exploiting microtrends can win you elections, but that is a tactic, not a strategery. You can win with superior tactics sometimes, but it won't win against someone with a solid strategery.
I'm not sure of what I think of McCain's VP selection committee head.
Obama will definitely be be Jimmah Carter 2.0, while McCain seems hellbent on doing whatever he can to piss off conservatives and lose.
Gross.

Something I forgot I was going to do, but I'm doing it now. If anyone knows of good solid conservative candidates running for the House, Senate or maybe even governor or state House and Senate, drop a line in comments.
And another thing, mee.nu's spam filter tends to be overzealous with certain things, and spammers from Wordpress seem to be one of them. It decides to ban all Wordpress sites now and then because of one or two spambots with Wordpress addys, Pixy will fix it in a bit, but until then, you'll have to leave the URL box blank when you comment. But do put your URL in your comment. Never mind, must have been a hiccup.
More caption-y goodness at VtheK's, and CB gets a special feature.
More Caption fun,
Blue Shirt: Walk like an EgyptiAAAACK!
Red Shirt: Shut! The Fuck! Up! You've been singing that stupid song and dancing around for hours now!
Even more caption fun,
"No, my friend, I will be the one to destroy the conservative movement, but it has been a good effort on your part, for that, I give you credit."
I've really been to wondering if that has been Maverick's game plan all along, because if it is, it is imperative that he lose this election. It makes a fair bit of sense too, Steve Laffey can tell you how difficult it is to go against the RINO establishment. With McCain-Feingold, and other factors, it makes it very hard to challenge incumbents and the party machinery.

(H/T) Eddiebear
I was going to add this gallery, but I was kinda rushing to get the links out, so I skipped it, and if you read before this update, Eddiebear's URL was missing too, so I added that. I'll give Nigel the H/T even though I was planning on adding that very gallery when I updated.
