Owie owie owie

Hey, leg, you're not supposed to do that!  You're not an elbow, you don't even bend that direction!

Picture below the fold for the faint at heart.  This is a crying shame, Preston Burpo's a nice guy.

Gauging reactions

Typical, obvious, but absolutely necessary to track, record, quote and follow leftist and media reactions to Israel's defense activities.  John's write up on it all is dead on, naturally.

And a Happy Memorial Day to all of you

Besides being a day for honoring the memories of those fallen, which conservativebelle did in the previous post, it is also the beginning of summer, which is hands down the greatest time of year.  In that spirit a salute:

Memorial Day Memories

Ordinarily, we don't post a lot of somber posts here, but today is different.

Today is different because we want to thank all the men and women who serve in our armed forces for the job they do to protect and preserve our nation and others in the world who desire freedom from tyranny, oppression and genocide.

Today is different because we want to honor those who have been wounded in the service of our country.

Today is different because we want to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the greatest sacrifice for our nation.

Today is different because we want to show our gratitude to the family members of our fallen military. We can never show how much we respect you for all you have given too.

And today is different because we have a new CIC who appears to neglect all of the above.

So to remind you of better days, I give you these reminders of a CIC who demonstrated his love for our troops and the fallen in a respectable way.

Parody just died a painful death

Here's Andrew Sullivan (no link per doubleplusundead editorial policy) discussing the way in which the press has treated Barack Obama:

Bad for journalism? What journalism? The MSM let this farce of a politician go an entire campaign without a single real press conference...That's how you find out who this delusional phony truly is...I think the press should be right in front of powerful people's faces. Right there. Unblinking, so to speak.
Hahahahahahahaha! Just kidding. You know who he's really talking about.

Desktop > Laptop

Got a new desktop, haven't had a desktop in I think eight or nine years.  Dear God this is a million times better than a fucking laptop.  Fuck large laptops, I'll use mine for backup until it dies, then replace it with a small laptop or netbook for on the go.

I also got rid of my TV, fuck TV's too (unless you're using them for movies or serious console gaming, and it's gotta be pretty damn big), my new desktop has a nice big screen and a TV tuner if I ever get cable again.  Got a nice set of speakers for it too, I'm blaring my good sized and ever growing collection of 80's mp3s on it right now.  This thing is awesome, I don't have to wait for it to do anything.

Shaken, not stirred

Hey, maybe Valerie Plame actually was the cream of the crop in terms of our nation's super secret agents after all...

I was recruited by the CIA once, or I might have been. I'm not sure. Because the CIA knows how to make offers that are understood but deniable.
Click here to find out who the International Man of Mystery that made this claim actually is!

Plausible deniability has never sounded quite so...plausible.

Seems like something's missing here

I've never watched "Sex and the City" (or as Brian on "Family Guy" called it, "a show about three hookers and their mom") so I don't know why I bothered clicking on an article listing ten reasons why you should watch the movie sequel, but I did notice #4:

Samantha repeatedly screams "Bite me!" to an angry mob of religious men, while also giving them the finger.
Well, I'm sure that the audience will get a kick out of Samantha screaming at and giving the finger to whatever non-denominational group of religious men the reviewer is talking about.

Yeah.

Sunday funnies a day early

I saw a link to this claiming it wasn't Nick Nolte's twitter page.
I don't know, it looks pretty real to me.
Quote
Tryin' to piece together the evening. On my left wrist I got stamps from about 10 different bars. On my right, a handcuff.

Typical Wednesday night: promise yourself just one or two ecstasy pills, yadda yadda yadda you wake up in a petting zoo.

And news you can use.

I find that little overhead A/C on planes is great for dryin off sweaty balls.

Don't drink anything when you click, they're all hysterical, Nolte's living la vida moron.

You wingnuts are crazy to think nationalized health care will suck

Behold the cost curve being bent way, waaaaay down...

Consultant haematologist Richard Chasty, who saw Mrs Pathak three days before her death, said she may have survived if diagnosed sooner.

At the hearing in Stoke, coroner Ian Smith ruled that Mrs Pathak died of natural causes. A hospital spokesman said she received ‘appropriate’ care based on her clinical condition.
And be sure to read the whole thing to find out about the details of her "appropriate" care. Especially if you've got a loved one with a life-threatening disease.

Hope and Change. Yeah.

I'm calling on the PA legislature to pass an Arizona-style immigration enforcement bill right now!

Let's see, the AZ immigration pisses off illegals, leftists and corrupt businesses, and it also apparently keeps Rage Against the Machine and their shitty fucking music out of your state.  I see no downside to this.

How to fail at robbing a bank

Even a Moron couldn't be this stupid ... could they?

Would-be robbers in Germany had to flee empty handed after blowing up everything in a bank except for where the money was, police said on Wednesday.

Photos in German media showed a scene of devastation in the northeastern village of Malliss, with the bank reduced to a pile of rubble and its roof completely obliterated. Amid the wreckage, only the cash machine could be seen intact.

Racist, Bitter Clinger Blasts Obama And Calls His Competence Into Question

Oh, I'm sorry. I should have written Peggy Noonan instead. But you get the point.

The president, in my view, continues to govern in a way that suggests he is chronically detached from the central and immediate concerns of his countrymen. This is a terrible thing to see in a political figure, and a startling thing in one who won so handily and shrewdly in 2008. But he has not, almost from the day he was inaugurated, been in sync with the center. The heart of the country is thinking each day about A, B and C, and he is thinking about X, Y and Z. They're in one reality, he's in another.

Fuck you, Peggy. You fucking helped foist this monstrosity upon us. You helped give a "bipartisan" credence to him with your support. You lauded his Ivy League background and his elitism over that snowbilly with too many children and her "racist" allies. You fucking helped run cover for him. You called those of us who called his lack of experience to task every nasty name in the book that your cocktail circuit uses to describe us unwashed masses.

And you want a do over? Fuck. And Double Fuck No. You are partially responsible for this mess, and we will not let you forget it. Get fucked, and take a memorial mudball with you as a reward for your efforts.

Interview with Mike Pence

Hawkins has a decent interview with Mike Pence up, this stuck out to me,

Are you familiar with Right Wing News?

Of course.

Really? I'm surprised.

Yes, I visit you often, thanks.

The thought that a Congressman may have actually read my insane scribblings is slightly horrifying...then again, my insane scribblings make a hell of a lot more sense than most of what Congress is saying and doing anyway...most of the time.  Heh.

Seen on CNN just now

I happened to catch CNN just now in our reception area and CNN is reporting that it was Clinton who acted as the go between for Sestak.

Really?  REALLY?  Come ON.  That's just.

The end of the day and the end of my trip to the shore needs to get here sooner so I can start drinking.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal passes the House

It's about damn time.  I'm sure that plenty will be said about this tomorrow, but for now I would like to thank the 5 GOP Members who voted for repeal:

Rep. Judy Biggert of Illinois.

Rep. Joseph Cao of Louisiana.

Rep. Charles Djou of Hawaii.

(Sigh) Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.

and

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida.

I thank you, and thousands of service members thank you as well.

Also, media whore Lt. Dan Choi will now be available to chain himself to shit at your wedding, bar mitzvah, or other special occasion.

Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is There...

...to demand you shell out over $1500 in auto repairs to the guy that ran over your dog.  Now, don't get me wrong, the dog should not have been in the road, and I think State Farm is well within their right to ask for the money. That said, when you're a giant insurer like State Farm, or really any company, sometimes you have to assume that the cost associated with what will be widely seen as a heartless dick move is gonna be much more than the $1500+ in auto repairs.

GOP Announces new GOP API

Well, I'll be damned.  They're actually taking this technology stuff seriously.

[This] means that developers will be able to create their own apps that integrate seamlessly with GOP.com, and help guide the development of the GOP platform and the online conservative movement. It also means that instead of using a series of disconnected apps, individuals will now be able to take advantage of a system of integrated tools to help them accomplish their goals.

I'll take a look at it more after work and see how useful it is.
