A question that has been floating around for a few days now has an answer

People were wondering if the monsters running Iran right now were going to charge the families of people they killed like the monsters running China have done, and the answer would be yes, to the tune of $3000 US.  Sick fucking bastards, may Ahmadinejad and the mullahs hang, and every last one of their goons too.

And what exactly is wrong with Rubio's statement?

Via Ed at Hotair, we've got this, some twat named Josh Kraushaar on Politico whining about this statement from Marco Rubio, (and of course using the worst picture of Rubio he could find, like some hack putting together a pamphlet for election season)

I have a feeling the situation in Iran would be a little different if they had a 2nd amendment like ours.

...and acting like this is some shocking, bizarre statement.  Uh, no jackass, it isn't, and if the Iranians had a concept in their society equivalent to a Second Amendment, and were able to keep and bear arms as we are, my guess is that the current regime wouldn't be nearly so bold about engaging in egregious human rights abuses and brutal to dissenters...assuming the leadership of the Iranian regime hadn't been overthrown already.  I'd also guess the Basij and the rest of the regime's enforcers would be a hell of a lot less bold about randomly shooting into crowds, too.

There are usually a few reasons guys like this twat freak out when someone notes what the Second is for, particularly a politician.  They don't like hearing what the Second is for.  They're liberal statists, they don't want you to be able to reject state power.  Because of that, they've been trying to redefine the Second Amendment as the Hunting Amendment for years now, and have failed miserably.

Unlike the GOP, gun nuts and the NRA don't cave to bullshit like this, and as a result gun nuts are winning the debate and the culture, and even now to an extent defining the terms of the debate, which is why the media and certain Democrats are screeching so loud about guns lately, they're losing, badly.  Gun nuts don't roll over, and liberals don't like that.

They don't want to admit that sometimes force is needed to preserve human rights (not that they particularly care about human rights to begin with).  Liberals can't or won't differentiate between protective violence and malicious or oppressive violence.  This is why you'll hear some liberals whine, "Oh, great, more violence, yaaay!" when stories of people defending themselves with lethal force in the news are published.  Ace's post here catches this mindset perfectly.

There's hubris and then there's this

Privately, Obama advisors are crediting his Cairo speech for inspiring the protestors.

I am beginning to have some sympathy for my more sane Lefty friends for how they were acting by the end of the Bush Administration as right now any sight/mention/reference to Pres. Obama makes me want to lie on the floor and throw a tantrum a two year old would envy.

I am desperately attempting to remind myself what the gods do to those who show such hubris.  It's not particularly helping.

The personal is presidential

I was talking to my brother last night, and he pointed me to this article on the tobacco legislation that Obama signed. He said something to the effect of "Man, have you noticed how this guy makes sure to insert himself into every issue, as if it's all about him?"

I had to chastise my own brother for being unfair to Obama, unfortunately.

"That's just not true," I told him. "About half of the time, he talks about how Bush is to blame for whatever policy clusterfuck he's actually responsible for."

My brother is actually just as much of a Right-Wing hatemonger as you and I, so he conceded the point. Gracefully, I might add.

Sometimes, I'm not sure whether or not the fact that I have no close relatives who happen to be hippie scum is a blessing or a hindrance. I mean, sure, I don't need the domestic violence charges from family dinners, but I could stand to sharpen my debating skills.

Oh, and here's something stupid from the linked article:

The law also requires that tobacco companies fully disclose ingredients and additives, stop targeting youth with their marketing campaigns, quit using terms such as "light," "low" and "mild" to market their products, and include warning labels on packaging that dominate the front and rear panels.
Yes, because smokers (like me) have no idea that our habit is bad for our health. I mean, it's not like anyone has warned us about the dangers posed by what we choose to do, right?

Let me add a few more things below the fold...

Excuse Me If I Don't Give A Flying Fuck What You Think

Moron Central linked this post on the sidebar, but I think it is so hilariously illustrative of how bug fuck stupid the left in this country really is that it deserves the loving affection I believe I can give it.

Warning! The outpouring of profanity and crude sexual references may cause NetNanny's heart to go a twitter.

Thanks, Barry

From now on, I'm gonna have trouble enjoying hot dogs.

On the other hand, I only ever buy Kosher dogs, so there's that.

Yikes.  WMATA is confirming at least 2 deaths.  And as the Hammer says, when a government agency confirms deaths that quickly, there are surely many more to come.

Video Of The Day

Thanks to Carin

The irony of a song made by trust fund anarchists for trust fund anarchists who have never faced anything scarier than the last level of Halo 3 being used by people who are trying to survive against one of the left's favorite regimes is delicious.

The Tweet of The Day

As much as I love Treacher, this lady (who I think is in Iran) nails the media in a more poignant fashion than any of us ever will be able to do.

Media now pushing "Jamaican gangs buying guns from US civilian market" lie

Well, the 90% of guns used in crime in Mexico lie didn't work, so I guess they're trying a different approach.  The good news is that people seem to be ignoring the propaganda, and pretty much recognize it as propaganda, or at least realize it smells a little bullshitty.  Beyond that, flooding the zone with these stupid stories reeks of desperation, the gun control movement is getting its ass handed to itself on nearly every front, outside of a few authoritarian hellholes like NY, NJ, CA and IL, but even there, sometimes you can find a little hope now and then.

I hope Michael Yon doesn't make an ass of himself boosting this lie, too.

Every time I think the mullahs can't sink lower

They do.  Now they're banning mosques from holding memorial services for Neda Agha Soltan.  h/t Jake Tapper's twitter.

I know that everyone is looking for the match to the tinder.  This may be it.  It reminds me of how the Chicoms supposedly bill families for the bullets used for executions.  It's so heartless.  It's so cruel.  It's so indicative of who and what the mullahs are.

God bless the people of Iran.

Now, watch as I drive this cart

Episode MXCIX in the series, "What if George W. Bush Had Done This During Some Kind of International Crisis?"

Honestly, I don't begrudge the man some relaxation from what's the hardest job in the whole wide world, but just try to imagine the (mostly feigned) MSM outrage if he (I'm sorry, "He") was a GOPer.  Yeah.  It is to laugh.

Mocking Andrew Sullivan Has Become Too Easy

Pejman doesn't even need to lift a finger on this one.

We all know that Andrew Sullivan is easily impressed by Barack Obama. But a lot of us have higher standards and don’t think it’s enough to issue an anodyne statement after all this time, just so that the President can get to what he perceives to be more important matters now that the anodyne statement has been delivered.

Yup.

Some Insight Into Health Care Polling

Almost as if on cue, with Obama's health care overhaul facing several roadblocks and mounting opposition from within his own party, the NY Times and CBS run a poll that, shockingly, is favorable to Obama.

Well, a little insight to the polling numbers reveals that, also shockingly, the NYT/CBS may have gamed the numbers just a bit.

BUT, according to the actual poll data, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama.  The actual vote was 46% (corrected) McCain.  So, 29% of McCain voters ignored by the poll must not be Americans, according to the NYTs methodology, and there are about as much an overpolling of  Obama voters

Anything to advance an agenda, I guess.

Quote of the Day

From Greg Gutfeld, reacting to the unserious Obama, who spent his day hanging out with Tony Hawk and getting soft serve while Iranian protesters are getting shot and beaten in the streets,

Someone please dig up Reagan. I'd take a dead leader with balls over a living camp counselor who wants all the cool kids to like him.

Kensington, in Gutfeld's comments,

This skateboard guy is likely to be the only hawk we get in the White House whilst Obama is POTUS.

He's going to be worse than Carter...worse than Carter after Carter left the White House.

Single payer healthcare and me - the professional version

My personal position against single payer healthcare is summed up thusly - if the government can't tell me whether or not I can put a dick in my mouth, the government can't tell me whether or not I can put a donut in there either.  Yes, yes, it's crude but sums it up nicely I do believe.

I also have professional reasons against it.  The short version is this - if there's single payer health then there will be a healthcare lien against every single civil action out there.  That isn't the problem, the problem is going to be the impossibility of dealing with the governmental entity in charge of handling this.  If it's anything at all like dealing with Medicare now, then this is going to be a disaster.

tl;dr below the fold

One more thing before the fold:  I do find it completely hilarious that the trial lawyers massively supported someone who will make being a personal injury trial attorney nearly economically impossible.  I do believe that the esteemed Nelson Muntz summed that up best.

Hope and change one letter

But global warming is the biggest problem in China, not intellectual property theft and patent violations!

I'd sooner expect the administration to take action over Obama's shiny pretty mug being used to advertise something than to actually object to the IP theft.
