Answering the phone when the house is on fire

Is that really your highest priority, Chairman Nancy?
Global warming, Chairman Nancy? Really?

Is that really your highest priority, Chairman Nancy?
"We are all in this together," Pelosi told an audience of about 200 students and faculty who applauded enthusiastically throughout the 45-minute session. "The impact of climate change is a tremendous risk to the security and well-being of our countries."I can think of a few things that might rank just a smidge higher on my China priority list than global warming. How about Tibet, lack of freedom of religion and speech, lack of freedom of information? How about forced abortions? How about the fact that 10% of US imports are from China, but 60% of US recalls are Chinese products? How about Wen Jiabao attempting to torpedo the US economy by buying Treasury bills by the boatload, then saying he thinks they're risky?
Global warming, Chairman Nancy? Really?

Her highest priority was escaping CIA-gate and it appears to have worked.

I'm too lazy to look for it, but there was a further quote of hers about how the state should be poking its nose into every single aspect of its citizens lives to "take inventory" of what they can do to reduce our carbon footprint.

The quote was: "We have so much room for improvement," she said. "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility." She's showing that her human rights priorities are exactly where they appear to be.
I'm hoping the feeling I'm getting about the Democrats' behavior is right - that
1. They figure that since the American people was stupid enough to give ourselves 8 years of Dubya, we're too stupid to make any more decisions for ourselves, and
b. They're assuming that Obama's infallibility in the eyes of the press and the rest of the country is rubbing off on the rest of the Democratic party.
Those two together could be a lethal combination for the Dems, as long as the GOP can get its act together enough to put up a visionary candidate in 2012. If we end up with another McCain, or with a candidate who's too interested in a reach-around reach across the aisle to go attack dog, we're going to lose again.
Enough true-color-revealing like this, there should be more than enough sound bites to put together some really nice ads in 2010 and 2012. Assuming the GOP doesn't blow off the technology to get the message out, anyway.
