Halloween Costume

No, I'm not dead.  Its just been a busy few weeks.

Anyhoo, I want to go as Universal Health Care for halloween and I've got the Doctor's scrubs so I just need some prop that makes it clear that I'm not a supporter.

Any ideas?  I thought of a shotgun and a clipboard like in the Far Side comic.

Scozzafava drops out of NY-23 race

Latest poll numbers showed that support for her had collapsed, it is unknown if she'll make an endorsement or not.

Jackie O she ain't

/images/Michelle-Obama-sweet-potato.jpg

Notice the belt. She wears a belt really high all the time. I've even seen her wearing two belts, one where it's supposed to be and one really high.
I think, like her husband, she believes her pet media so she thinks she's a fashion icon.
Jackie O had pillbox hats, Michele O has high belts. She's trying to make the look "fashionable".

That makes me laugh but we'll have to wait until next season to see if Milan is following suit.

Man to Myth

Iowahawk is Da Man. When he writes as someone else, he's always pitch perfect. Fear and Loathing in the Mystery Machine was his previous masterpiece, this one is nearly as good.

I can totally see Caesar talking like that, he wasn't no homorator like Cicero, he came, he saw he conquered and didn't take no backtalk from nobody.

I read about this choad praetor Rocco Landesman, saying that your new imperator Obamacus is "the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar" At first I was LMFAO because, let's face it, the Juice didn't waste his prime warror time word processing a bunch of papyrus scrolls. Word cuz, where I come from that kind of bullshit is for light-in-the-sandals scribefags like Livy and Plutarch. So I guess it was like hearing "Obama is the greatest chariot mechanic since Julius Erving." But then I think about it, and I'm like, WTF? Obama's palace asslick is comparing him to me? Srsly?
...snip...
I mean, shit son, let's look at foreign policy. Back when the Juice was doin' his thang, them gutta thugs up in Gaul and Iberia knew better than disrespect Rome. 'Cause they knew the Juice had him a strong pimp hand, and he was liable to dial up his legions to go pop a pilium in their ass. This Obamacus clown? No time to talk to his own centurion general, that fool too busy ridin' his chariot all over Europa oratin' laments about his own damn empire. Sorry this, sorry that, open hand, please accept this reset button. Yeah, like that kind of bullshit is gonna calm those Parthians and Vandals and Barbarians the fuck down. And what exactly does he get for it? A couple 10 denarius "peace" medallions from the Goths and Gauls. Back in the day those Gauls had some straightup warrior badasses like Vercingetorix and Ambiorix, but apparently somewhere over the last 2000 years they turned into the biggest bunch of Eurohomos since the Athenians.

Iowahawk, the greatest channeler since Shirley MaClaine.

Hopenchange flops in...California?

Sure, lots of attention has been paid to the gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia and the special election in NY-23, but on Friday evening, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom dropped out of the race to become the next governor of my state.

Does any of this stuff sound familiar?

He just basically cribbed the whole Obama playbook there. Universal health care? Check. Creating "green jobs" to save the economy? Gotcha. All that's missing is a Shep Fairey painting and a "YES WE CAN!" chant (though Barack might just sue him over that sort of thing).

Yeah, the guy's been through a sex scandal and rehab recently, but if you can't gain any traction by borrowing Obama's agenda here in one of the bluest of states, what does that say?

GM: I can haz moar moneyz?

GMAC is looking for another $5.6 billion in bailouts from the Feds.  This is of course on top of the $13.5 billion they got in earlier bailouts, and the bailouts for GM itself.  This line from the article is special,

A lack of leasing options is already being blamed for much of Cadillac's 44 percent drop in sales during the first nine months of this year.

Yeah, can't be that Cadillac is a luxury brand, the economy has cratered, and dozens of profitable Cadillac dealerships were forcefully closed...not. a. chance.  Sorry, I'm a little pissy about what's happening to Cadillac.  I've always been a Cadillac fan, even as a kid when everyone else was drooling over that Fast and Furious shit.

Keep Your Hands Off Of My Healthcare!

OK, so I am going on about 3 hours of sleep, so I may or may not recall all of the details to this story, but my daughter woke up with a fever this morning that was in the scary range. We were able to get her in and out of medical treatment within the span of a morning, and she is resting at home.

Anybody who thinks that Obamacare will improve things better not have a sick shild who needs rapid treatment, but is told to wait in line until a bureaucrat tells them it is OK to proceed. And so help me, after seeing how awesome the medical assistance we had today was, any attempts to change or "improve" it will be met by me consuming something combsutible, so that I can then piss fire on an "improver" for supporting something that will hurt so many people in the name of fairness.

And if a family member of mine is hurt or forced to suffer becasue of a bureaucrat, whole neighborhoods of liberals will go up in flames in my wake.

So yeah, fuck you, O-care Advocates. Fuck you with a toxic parking meter soaked in a fever inducing gonorrhea. You want to hurt my family? I will hurt you back on retard strength levels.

Victory?

It's a Politico link, sinced they started with a hit piece on Teh Fred and recently made up their story about Palin's fees (we all saw it at Ace's), so take it for what it's worth (almost nothing, but I want it to be true so I'm running with it).

The House Republican leadership is prepared to welcome Doug Hoffman into its ranks, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said Thursday, a sign that the GOP establishment is recalibrating its approach toward the contentious New York special election and the Conservative Party nominee whose candidacy has divided the party.

Now that would be cool, it could be a sign they're done with attacking their base and might actually (gasp!) start listening to them.

NRCC comes to its senses - Gently Ditches Dede

73wire and RedState are reporting that the NRCC is now focused on running negatives on Owens in NY-23, pulling all the pro-Scozzafava and anti-Hoffman stuff.

While I'm certainly not the first person to suggest dumping Dede, I did suggest that the "dumping" needn't be explicit, that they could just stop supporting her and let nature take its course.  So yay me.

Our long wait is over

Mad Max 4, Fury Road is supposedly nearly in production!!!!

No Mel Gibson apparently but no Tina Turner either.

As Wyatt Earp said (while not providing a link) we need it if for nothing else but washing the taste of Thunderdome out of our... mouths.

IMDB claims Charlize Theron is rumored to be in it so it'll have that going for it.

I have high hopes, but I have a feeling the fall will now be caused by global worming and the good guys are commies trying to "organize" Australia and ban guns.

Blues Brothers 2000 and Thunderdome have me really leary of sequels of great movies.

Where's Sonny Corleone when you need him?

Some NRCC staffer videotaping license plates of people attending a Hoffman meet and greet.
Why? The only reasons I can think of are nefarious and have to do with reprisals.

They need to explain why he was doing that. They won't, and yet they still wonder why we're so angry with them.

From the coverage of the debate, I saw that link at the puppy blender's.

Which coverage is interesting by itself. The Dem treaded water, the Rino actually sounded good on local things but avoided the national stuff she's for, the Conservative came across pretty good too.
Apparently there was a "microphone" problem that only struck Hoffman.
If I were paranoid I ....
Wait, I'm really freaking paranoid, was that on purpose?
I hope so, and I hope it comes out that it was a GOP staffer behind it. Maybe the reaction to that would wake the GOP up.

Well then: Pataki endorses Hoffman

Story at Politico, Politico hack (who I'm not a fan of) notes a number of Pataki's top campaign people and advisors work for Scozzafava, so he probably has in inside view of Scozzafava's campaign, so a Hoffman endorsement probably means things are bad for Scozzafava, which I think is probably true.  Should be interesting.

I think Allah's concerns about this encouraging a bunch of third party shenanigans are valid, however being the spastic pessimist he is, I think he's overstating them by a fair margin.  With the caveat that GOP leadership is smart enough to be twice shy after getting a nasty bite in NY-23, if they're going to be stubborn fucking retards and double down on becoming Diet Democrat, I guarantee they make limited gains in Congress and Governor seats.

I will say that if we end up with a squish candidate in 2012, expect a third party run from the right that does 10+%, RINOs will cry like bitches and blame you wingnutty wingnuts for "letting the Democrat win," but I can guarantee said hypothetical squish would have lost anyway, just maybe not as badly.  Grassroots conservatives are making it damned clear they're in a foul mood, and they aren't playing games with the fucktards in the upper echelons of the GOP.

I can't really blame Ah-nuld...

...for sending "Fuck you" letters to Califorina's legislators when they're wasting everyone's time with bullshit like this:

Piles of unwanted phone books littered throughout the Bay Area and the state could soon be reduced under legislation announced today by state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco/San Mateo.

At a news conference on the steps of Millbrae City Hall this morning, Yee announced legislation that would allow California residents to request a copy of the phone book each year instead of automatically receiving them from phone companies.
Yeah, because there's no more pressing issue facing the people of California than fucking phone books. It's like you can't walk down the street without tripping over piles and piles of them. Our massive budget deficit, overcrowded prison system and failing public schools can wait.

Something Tells Me The Public Option Is Not All That It's Cracked Up To Be

Seriously, anybody at this point who is clamoring for this piece of shit legislation deserves whatever calamities befall them. Especially when I read this.

The public insurance option would typically charge higher premiums than private plans available in the exchange, according to the Congressional Budget Office analysis of the House bill.

HAHAHAHHAHAH!!!1*COUGH*HAHSAHHAHAHAHAH!1!!

But, I also found this interesting:

That surprising conclusion raises doubts about Democratic promises that a government-run insurance plan would provide a lower-cost alternative to consumers. At the same time, it calls into question Republican charges that the plan amounts to government takeover of health insurance -- because only 6 million people would enroll in the plan, according to the CBO.

Maybe so. But if only 6 million people would enroll in the Public Option , why was Obamacare so important and a matter of life or death that HAD TO PASS YESTERDAY!1!11?
