looks like i got my answer

...to yesterday's question, and the answer?  Yep!  You'll note the AP spinning in their own article, arguing that it falls under the newsworthy banner, and that they were within fair use, and they were just pure as the wind-driven snow and never done nothin' wrong.

This oughta be fun, can we say schadenfreudelicious?  I hope Brian has at least as much fun with this as I will.  The AP sounds confident in that article, but you know they're sweating a bit, and they aren't alone.  (h/t HA)

Today's links, the first one is definitely something to note.

Sharpsville is a little place that may haunt Obama for the rest of his political career.

Nice Deb states the obvious.  Dear God don't let Minnesota elect this asshole to the Senate.

...and your little dog too!

Another funny 'shop by Slublog.

bmac and boredom, a dangerous mix.  Heh.

The Man of Substance has an independent film you may be interested in.

A Mea Culpa.

Stashiu says give Chavez what he wants.  In theory, it would work to devastating effect and end the pesky little powertripping douchebag pretty handily once and for all.  In practice...people in this country don't just get angry, they irrationally, insanely angry when their fuel costs go up, and they usually get angry at the wrong people for it, not to mention the fact that the media would be firmly in Chavez's corner and actively propagandizing in his favor in order to encourage that reaction.

A kleptocon faces a challenger, and Obama's church's new minister ain't a hell of a lot better then crazy Rev. Wright was.  Maybe IVD is er, Wright that Obama is the weaker candidate?  Maybe we've been making a mistake hoping that the Hildebeest made a modest recovery...

Eddiebear finds some funneh for baseball fans.

A good dose of FAIL.

Muslihoon on the Pakistani elections.

of course mccain isn't going to go after obama's crazy pastor

***Hi Again Hotair Readers, be sure to check in to doubleplusundead regularly for new stories here and other blogs from around the Moronosphere.  Feel free to comment on anything, or if you're an Ace of Spades Moron interested in getting in on the linkfest, let me know, and we'll do a blogroll exchange.  If anyone has a Wordpress URL that's being blocked when you comment, it's mee.nu's stupid overzealous filter, the domain owner has to fix it, just put the URL in your comment till then***

Allah and Captain Ed at Hotair on McCain's refusal to hammer away at Obama's crazy pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.  Allah,

Update: Yeah, we’ll see about this. It’s not totally implausible: Maverick has enough trouble with evangelicals and, potentially, with Catholics via Hagee that he might be shy about going after a pastor, even one as scummy as Wright. Better to let the media handle it than give Obama an opening for the tu quoque.

Captain Ed,

Update (Ed): Makes sense to me.  Why should McCain go after Wright when Hillary’s people will do it first?  McCain can rise above the fray and talk about his own themes while Hillary and Obama fight it out in the streets.

Allah's closer to the answer, Ed has a contributing factor, but Allah is on the right track, but he has the wrong person, and the wrong political direction.  McCain is smart to keep his mouth shut and lay low on the topic of bad political alliances.

Not because of the obnoxious hater Hagee, though that could have a similar impact, but because of this, see it?  McCain still has Juan Hernandez on as an advisor.  If McCain goes after Obama for his shady political alliances, he opens himself up to defections by disgruntled conservatives who hate his RINO guts to begin with.

All it takes is McCain to start hammering at Obama, and he'll have a handful of people going, "yeah, McCain's got plenty of room to talk with Juan Hernandez and other Open Borders/Amnesty advocates prominently on his campaign staff," and he'll have growing problems.  Immigration already nearly destroyed McCain politically once, and like the Amnesty bill itself, it could come back from the dead for round two.  Obama doesn't have to lift a finger to have that happen either.

McCain is much better served to lay low, keep his mouth shut and ride the wave, pretend he's above the fray to woo squishy moderates and independents, let conservatives slap Obama and Rev. Wright around, and hope that they forget about the lousy company he keeps.  Most conservatives fell in line, he runs the risk of spoiling that by going after Wright.

does snapped shot get to say, oh snap?

Possibly.  Turns out news services were possibly violating fair use when they hurriedly snatched up MySpace photos of Eliot Spitzer's hooker before she scrubbed them, and now are going to have to go back and build a fair use argument or they've engaged in copyright infringement.

Dear God let this be true!  I so can't stand her, actually, I'm not sure she's the Antichrist, it could be Garrison Keillor, who should be put in stocks and pelted with rotten produce and eggs for crimes against entertainment.

liberian militiamen ate u.n. troops they killed

***Hi Hotair Readers, feel free to drop a comment and look around, hope you didn't have any problems getting here***Welcome to doubleplusundead!  If you have a moronblog, be sure to drop a comment if you want to do a blogroll exchange, I'm doing a regular feature with a daily linkfest of the best posts from the Moronosphere.***

This story came out in testimony during Liberian president Charles Taylor's war crimes trial

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x73/doubleplusundeadmeenu/1147204z.jpg
Say it ain't so Chuck!

Admit it, you think of the same thing I do when I hear that guy's name.  The testimony is pretty chilling.  A taste,

"Did Charles Taylor order you to eat people?" Griffith asked.

"Yes, to set an example for the people to be afraid," Marzah replied.

He appeared unfazed by Griffith's blunt queries, and responded in matter-of-fact tones to such questions as "How do you prepare a human being for the pot?"

Marzah then described the splitting, cleaning, decapitating and cooking of the corpse with salt and pepper. "We throw your head away," he said.

Good Lord, he's Ed Gein with an AK-47 and machete...

"How many ECOMOG soldiers did you eat?" the attorney asked.

"We ate a few but not many. But many were executed, about 68."

Who knew I'd get to post this twice on the same day?

Be sure to click that link for the whole story, there are a few more choice lines in there.

For nostalgia purposes only...

nutroots whine: b-b-but, dittoheads are breaking election laws!!!!!

The Nutroots aren't too happy that Dittoheads and others are switching parties to vote tactically in the Democrat primary.  Here we have one (and I'm guessing it was more like dozens feverishly ranting) whining to a Wired blogger that the crossover voters making a strategeric vote were breaking Ohio law, on the basis that one has to believe in the priciples of the party you register with.  Basically, this is unenforceable, and even if it was,

By the way, cross over voting for purposes of affecting an election isn't limited to Republicans. A spokesman for the Ohio secretary of state's office said it always happens in presidential elections and also occurred during the 2006 gubernatorial primary election when Democratic voters crossed over to cast ballots in the Republican primary for Kenneth Blackwell because they thought he would more likely lose in a race against the Democratic candidate for governor.

Sorry Nutroots, you may want try again, this one isn't gonna go anywhere for you.

links from around the moronosphere, slow news day edition

Today's links, seems to be a bit of a slow day.  I'll probably update this, or if you have something good, drop a comment.

Just how well do you know your political sex scandals?  Find out by taking the quiz, I'm almost ashamed to admit I got a 9/10.

"I mean, who doesn't like Bruce Springsteen?"   Me, he's a leftist tool, and another from Eddiebear, a frog has his way with a duck

How about an article on horrifying food additives for lunch?  Oh, and a good stomping of some True Patriotic Dissenters.

Stash on an Afghan detainee who wants to boycott his trial.

IVD says hope the Messiah wins and make his pastor his albatross

geoff on mathematics in our disastrous school systems.  And yes geoff, math educators are that clueless, and people wonder why my math skills are so horrendous...

Dr. Death runs for Congress.  Why not, what the hell else was he gonna do?

Library book returned after being overdue for over a century.

Cuffy on Obama's minister, and since I got an "it's old" today, I get to do it too.  I wanted to link to the story Cuffy has a while back, but I couldn't come up with anything clever to add...I shoulda just ran with it.

student takes tv, ir sensor, wii hardware and laptop and makes 3d vr display

A. Weasel sends this, awesome, and kinda simple, actually, as most brilliant things are.  He basically reverses the Wii system and uses IR sensors as a movement tracker and the Wiimote as static tracker.  You don't actually need that IR bar to use your Wii, just two sources of IR light.  I've heard you could even use candles if you wanted.

He has software made for it that you can download which is neat, so really, anyone could do this if they had a Wii, a TV and a computer.  I'd love to see what could be done with this, if not with the current console systems, then with the next gen consoles, or on computers too.

links from around the moronosphere, not as much spitzer edition

Today's links,

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x73/doubleplusundeadmeenu/zelda_1_th.jpg

British MP's dragging Catholic bishop in to explain his radical fundamentalism.

Slublog enjoys the fallout from Geraldine Ferraro's political ineptness.  Bmac considers a career change.  Just remember how it works, being a Democrat strategerist entails a careful balance of rank Marxist authoritarianism, and carefully avoiding openly announcing Marxist authoritarianism as your agenda.  Use lots of PC terms and obtuse bullshit language, you'll do fine.

Weasel on Spitzer's replacement, and more catsophone.

A moronbaby is born.  Certainly prayers are in order, also, a moronbaby naming contest.  Best wishes to Russ from Winterset, Janis and the little beastie.

See-Dub on Spitzer and on conservatives and McCain.

The former bassist for Filter is now an Army Sergeant, and did a show in Kuwait with his old band before he is to go to Iraq.

Via Snapped Shot, the BBC acting like the BBC.

Stashiu on Gitmo detainees receiving additional phone privileges, and why he thinks it can be a good thing.  Stash actually worked in Gitmo, which is something to keep in mind as you read.

It's Vintage, Duh on how Spitzer really damaged Hillary's primary campaign.

Eddiebear finds some freakish Japanese experiments involving sperm whale whale sperm.

new additions to the blogroll

First addition today is It's Vintage, Duh, who you can usually see hanging around Hotair, he's also an AoSHQ Moron.  I linked his post on a legislative effort to ban Axe Body Spray from schools in the Links! today...almost a supportable Nanny State move...almost.   Eddiebear and Enas Yorl are of course Morons from way back, why I was so negligent about adding them to the blogroll for so long, I don't know, but it has been rectified.

ouch! hillary probably loses spitzer as a superdelegate

I hadn't even thought of that, and if Hillary can get within range of Obama using superdelegates, this might be a problem for her, not to mention the potential embarrassment associating him could be causing, particularly with older voters.

"attack of the killer tomatoes!" to be remade?

A remake, rewritten and directed from the guys who do the "Ask a Ninja" videos?  This has to mark the official beginning of the end of Hollywood, right?

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x73/doubleplusundeadmeenu/B0000B1OEP.jpg
Remake?

Dunno, but from what I saw at the Ask a Ninja, sounds like they're going to take a movie that is apparently so bad its good, and just make a remake that's bad.  Again, here I am, commenting on movies I haven't even watched yet...

end of an era, the f-117 officially mothballed

The F-117 was the first stealth aircraft used for combat.  59 F-117's saw service, seven were lost, mostly in crashes, one was damaged and crashed after the pilot ejected in Serbia under hostile fire.  the F-117 was able to move into heavily defended enemy territory undetected, drop its payload, then slip away again, and was proven effective in its use in Panama, Serbia and both Iraq wars.

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x73/doubleplusundeadmeenu/stealth.jpg

A big reason they are retiring the F-117 is to free up some funds to get the F-22 Raptor in service a bit quicker.  There are going to be some ceremonial flights to mark the end of service, and those are expected to be the last service they see

links from around the moronosphere, spitzer edition!

A new feature, and a new way of doing headlines.  I think I'm gonna do all small letters for a while and see how I like it.  There are admittedly a lot of things on Spitzer, it was unavoidable, but most of them are funny. Today's links!

http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x73/doubleplusundeadmeenu/sausage.jpg

Cuffy brings the funneh with some choice pics of the scandalized Eliot Spitzer.

al-Qaida promises to up their aggression, which says to me they know they're in bad shape, because they're now in a position that they need to let people know they still exist. Unrelated, but this is pretty funny.

The Hostages report on the animal kingdom's reaction to the Spitzer scandal.

Slublog has a great post on the Spitzer scandal, and a little non-Spitzer related stuff too

More on moderates from the Weasel.

Conservative Belle on the Mississippi primary, she's in MS, so she'll likely have some good stuff on that.

Mike at Cold Fury on the left and its love of Hugo Chavez, and pure schadenfreude over the Spitzer scandal.

After seeing my post on the new Tron movie, Stashiu posts Tron Guy's interview on Jimmy Kimmel.  Sorry Stash' but I'm gonna have to up the ante on weird Tron Guy videos.

You lose, sucka!

Okay, this made me laugh

Interesting, at Snapped Shot, the Israelis are holding the body of the terrorist that attacked that Jewish school until a deal is worked out that there will be no big media spectacle made of his funeral.  The deal'll probably be violated immediately, but I guess they're trying...
