You can probably predict what the numbskulls that infest Hollywood are doing to GI Joe and why they're doing it before even clicking the link, but I encourage you to do so anyway, unless you have a heart condition.
Its disgusting what they're going to do with this American classic. The fact that Hollywood is screwing with Ferris Bueller's Day Off is bad, ruining a true American classic like GI Joe is unforgivable.

I've commented on it in other places, I think slub, or sayanything.
The movie absolutely MUST be done in the GI JOE v. COBRA era, and if you look at it rationaly the GI JOE v. COBRA era consists of a multinational, multi-linguistic/accent force opposing an ambiguously identified Cobra, who seem to just like blowing shit up, and somehow that is proffitable.
After all, in the later seasons of GI Joe, the MAJOR badguy, especially after the cobrala fiasco wasn't either cobracommander, but rather destro, the military "arms dealer" (read that as "military industrialist") and it was still a good show because American ideals win out. Yes, a lot of American concepts are undermined, but in the end, American identity wins.
If I can find clips, I just found my SMC I think.

I loved this quote
this new script is set to be 100% GI Joe,
You know, except he's not going to be an American.
Next up, a remake of Patton where he's a French general and they won the war with diplomacy and without the cowboy Americans who wanted to (how gauche) actually fight the Nazis.

Who do they think their market is?
Men see war movies... they want to see heroes do heroic things... think Lord of the Rings and the Billions it earned.
Yet Disney based 'The Alamo' on a long discredited smear and demonized the heroes. Our Heroes.
It earned back 1/3rd of it's cost and Disney's executives can rot in hell.
Alexander the Great? Sorry... the market for gay-porn isn't that big.
Troy? Sure... it's only one of the oldest works of literature known so they cut the gods, rewrote it into a love story... and it bombed.
Pearl Harbor? Don't even get me started.
