9 Let me see if I understand this. The government staged 9/11 in order to justify going to war for, well, some reason.

The planes flying into the WTC wasn't enough to justify war. Killing all the passengers and causing two massive fires wasn't enough.

Flying into the Pentagon wasn't enough either. Killing those passengers and attacking the US military headquarters wasn't enough to justify war.

Flying the plane into the ground in PA wasn't enough to justify war. They would need more.

So they brought down the towers of the WTC with a controlled demolition killing thousands. That wasn't enough to justify going to war either. They would need even more to justify the war. What could they do that would really shock the nation?

That is when they decided that even if all of the above was done, there was one additional act that would finally enrage the American people enough to go to war: blow up Building 7.

What could possibly happen on 9/11 that would have Americans calling for revenge that would be more effective than bringing down a building that almost no American had heard of seven hours after the attack. That would finally make Americans mad enough to go to war.

Think about it. We all know exactly where we were when we first heard that Building 7 had come down. The rest of September 11, 2001 was interesting, but America wasn't truly pissed until they heard about Building 7. Up until we heard about Building 7, Americans were ambivalent about the earlier attacks. When Building 7 collapsed, however, America awoke from its lethargy and finally got good and pissed. Remember the Building 7 bumper stickers. Remember the non stop images of the building falling.

The administration was brilliant in risking getting caught red-handed in dynamiting Building 7. Americans really had no interest in the events of earlier in the day. It was the fall of Building 7 that is seared into our collective consciousness.

The administration are geniuses blowing up Building 7. They knew that only the destruction of Building 7 was traumatic enough to really scar Americans. They were right. I barely remember any other part of 9/11/01. Only the image of Building 7 going down was enough to make me support President Bush.

Just a little factoid that even Popular Mechaincs missed in their excellent debunking of "Troofers":

In all controlled demolitions of builings, the explosives are placed at the bottom, where compressive stresses are the highest.  The whole building falls intact into the bottom portion where the explosives are detonated.

In the case of the WTC buildings the failures occurred high in the building, just above the planes' impact points and the top portion s fell into the stationary bottom portion.  Go look at the videos and you will see the difference.

I believe the troofers' excuses du jour for the controlled demolition of a building that hardly anybody had even heard of before 9/11 are: (a) the EVIL Larry Silverstein wanted to collect more insurance money (we're not anti-Semitic, we just like pointing out how Jews seem to like money a lot), and (b) the EVIL Larry Silverstein used the demolition to cover up some kind of incriminating evidence in WTC 7 (we're not anti-Semitic, we just think Jews are always involved in shady deals).

My question is, if he wanted to achieve either of these things, why didn't he just demolish the building in a controlled demolition that was quite openly a controlled demolition? All he would have needed to do would be to say "WTC 7 is damaged beyond repair, and besides, after the events of 9/11, who'd ever want to work in it again?". Then he could have sent Fiendcorp Demolition Services (or whoever he hired to bring the Twin Towers down) to rig the towers for detonation, making sure they policed up and destroyed any incriminating evidence in the process. That way, he would've gotten the insurance money and made 100% sure that whatever he wanted to cover up was destroyed, not merely buried under rubble to be possibly found later (or fluttering around the streets of Manhattan like the thousands of documents that fell from the Twin Towers -- blowing up a building seems like a really stupid way of "concealing" anything), all without arousing suspicion.

Apparently though, Silverstein is one of these criminal masterminds beloved by the troof movement, who at one moment is more fiendishly cunning and resourceful than Professor Moriarity, and the next can't run a simple cost/benefit analysis because he's too busy working out how to get the sippy cup in his mouth.

One more point before this thread goes stale. You have to tip your hat to the Bush Cabal. After only eight months in office, they were able to recruit hundreds of demolitions experts, pilots and black ops types who were able to move like ninjas into NYC and plant explosives on every floor of the WTC. (Remember the “puffs” on each floor were explosive charges.) They did all of this without anybody being seen or anybody coming clean. How exactly do you recruit a building demolition expert to treason and mass murder?

“Dude, we are going to conduct the biggest mass murder and act of treason in American history to accomplish things that won’t benefit you at all. We need demolition experts. Are you in? No? Okay, don’t tell anybody, alright?”

So, after eight months in office they sent at least dozens of people to plant thousands of charges in a combined 220 stories of the WTC. They also managed to get planes to fly into both towers, let them burn for an hour – for some reason – and then detonate them. I guess they weren’t worried that a huge fire might interfere with their explosive control mechanism, but I digress. They also managed to launch a missile at the Pentagon and “disappear” the plane, passengers and crew that supposedly hit it. Pretty good work for eight months in office.

Now here is the mysterious part. The Bush Cabal was able to accomplish all this in the middle of the most populous city in America in a mere eight months. Why weren’t they able to plant a few anthrax shells in some bunker in a remote section of the Iraqi desert after 2 and a half years in office? Seems like if you could secretly plant thousands of explosive charges in two of the largest office buildings in the largest city in the US, you could plant a few WMDs in a remote desert.

You may have different beliefs—you may strongly disagree with us on ours—but the it's a fact that most, if not all of us, strongly disagree with you.

Actually, most of us think you're a fool. We hold people like you in contempt. We laugh at you while pitying you at the same time. I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings. I'm saying this because you've picked an obviously bad forum to air your strongly held convictions.

Look, no matter how many times you post links to that truther website, it's not going to change any minds here. We're just as sure that Bin Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks as you are that it was some sort of shadowy conspiracy. And if our host decides to block your comments, well, that's his prerogative. A plane did hit the Pentagon.  The plane had a wingspan of about 125 feet.  The body of the plane is only about 20 feet across.  When lightweight wing structures meet military reinforced concrete at high speed, they do not punch a hole like you'd see in a Road Runner cartoon.

There was wreckage, lots of it, and the engines weren't melted.

Two planes did hit the twin towers.  Thousands of people saw it happen.  It was recorded happening.

The buildings did not fall at freefall speed.  They fell quickly, but slower than freefall.   This is obvious in video footage, because you can see pieces debris that are actually in freefall, and they are falling faster than the building.
