So Racism Really Did Exist At The Tea Parties After All

Yeah.

They’ve been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and are used to having to defend their values. Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement — and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation’s first black president.

“I’ve been told I hate myself. I’ve been called an Uncle Tom. I’ve been told I’m a spook at the door,” said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government.

Caution! Prostitutes!

No. Really.

I'm not sure if that counts as a warning or as a piece of friendly advice.

This is not Scrabble, dammit!

We're one step away from laying down LOLcatspeak for a triple word score.

What caused about 10,000 near-heart attacks from London to El Segundo, Calif., began a few days ago with a tiny item in a British trade paper. It referred to Mattel's plans to introduce a new kind of Scrabble that would permit the use of proper nouns.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

As critical as I am of the various arms of the GOP clusterfuck machine, this one is pretty good.

Dear Congressional Staff,

We know you’ve worked hard the last few months answering phone calls, replying to emails, and meeting with constituents who didn’t want a government takeover of health care.

But thanks to your boss, they got one.

Your boss may have even gotten the shady backroom deal he/she wanted in exchange for his/her flip-flop. But what did you – the staffers who toiled for countless hours listening to the Americans that Democrats ignored – receive? Nothing.

So we at the NRCC thought we’d send you something small in recognition of all your hard work: a comfortable, stylish t-shirt commemorating your boss’ vote to raise taxes, cut Medicare for seniors, and destroy American jobs. Wear it with pride!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at the NRCC

P.S. We reserved this batch of t-shirts for staffers like you: the ones who, like us and the rest of America, won’t get to keep their health care plans. You didn’t get to write yourself an escape clause from the jobs-killing bill your boss supported, but you sure will look great while out on the town. We hope you enjoy it!

Heh.

Glenn Beck doesn't want you to have this job (but I do)

Infiltration of the enemy camp

The progressive movement has gained extraordinary momentum over the last two years. (yes, that is why it has lost two governorships and Teddy Kennedy's Senate seat) We have begun to overturn the destructive polices of the Bush era, (Like economic growth and national security) taken major steps towards building a green economy, (commit fraud) and just recently passed a historic health care reform package. (Legislation that is so popular that it may hand control of the House and Senate back to the GOP and has President Obama buried underwater in all the recent polls)

However, far right extremists like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck continue to use fear tactics (known as telling the truth) to derail progress. At such a critical time we cannot let them and other right wing zealots overturn the progress that has been made or block the progress that is left to come. (After all America hasn't been completely destroyed yet)

This summer, we are taking to the streets and going door-to-door in 18 cities across the country to activate our communities and take this country back, one person at a time. (Following the Charlie Manson model of community organizing)

If you are looking for a job this summer that is going make a huge impact at this critical moment in our country's history, tackling issues like protecting human rights, fighting to protect our civil rights and liberties, ending global poverty, and working toward a better America, then call us NOW!

Only a genius could have forseen THIS!

Oh, supply and demand, how I love thee.  Now, it's been a really long time since I took an economy class, but, as I recall, as demand increases, prices tend to rise.  Seems like a pretty basic premise.  Now, I'm not saying that I'm an expert or anything, but I think I have a basic enough understand of supply and demand to say that I know what will happen in certain scenarios.

For example, if group A and group B both make the same thing, and every now and then, group A uses some of group B's equipment, group B will charge X amount.  Now, let's say that group A is going out of business, but still wants to use group B's equipment.  Now that group B is the dominant force on the market, group B is going to charge whatever the market will bear for the same service.

Everyone agree?  (Since this isn't exactly an interactive forum, I will continue my point.  Take that, that one guy who reads this blog!  Or, tell me I'm a dumbass in the comments.  That's cool, too.)

So.  Let's replace, in the example above, group A with NASA, group B with the Russians, equipment with space shuttles, and X with 26.3 million dollars.  Check out what happens!

The price for American astronauts to hitch a ride on a Russian spaceship is going sky high.

NASA on Tuesday signed a contract to pay $55.8 million per astronaut for six Americans to fly into space on Russian Soyuz capsules in 2013 and 2014. NASA needs to get rides on Russian rockets to the International Space Station because it plans to retire the space shuttle fleet later this year.

I wish I were as S-M-R-T as Teh Won ...

GOProud tears into Tom Campbell

For terrorist coddling and hostility to Israel,

In his failed 2000 Senate bid, Campbell called for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem, argued that Israel received too much U.S. aid, and attacked former President Bill Clinton for being too pro-Israel.

While in Congress, Campbell was one of only a handful of Representatives to vote against both a resolution expressing support for Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and against the unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state.

“Israel is one of the United States most important and loyal allies, and quite frankly Tom Campbell’s record and rhetoric look more like Pat Buchanan’s then Ronald Reagan’s,” said LaSalvia. “Israel is a beacon of freedom and tolerance in a sea of radically anti-gay regimes in the Middle East. You simply cannot claim to support equality of opportunity for gays and lesbians while at the same time seeking to undermine the only country in the Middle East that treats gay people with dignity and respect.”

This was a press release er, oriented towards the gay community, who Campbell is actively seeking support from.  I have zero patience for the Pat Buchanan/Jimmah Carter view on Israel, good work GOProud.

I will not insult ignorant sluts by comparing them to Katrina vanden Heuvel

You know, I'm tempted to refer to her with the only word I find vulgar in response to this.

I am not a robot (sadly).  I am not mindnumbed.  I am not at the whims of advertisers.  I've managed to quite successfully not buy a stupid iPad no matter what Jobs tries to do.  I think I can resist a food commercial.

I do not have children but I remember being a child.  And you know what?  There is a magic way to control what your children eat.  Buy.  Them.  Healthy.  Stuff.  There is also a magic way to control your child's begging for treats.  You.  Say.  No.

Also, really, does anyone at all believe that there will not be regulations on food?  Anyone?  At all?  This has been coming for years (I'm looking at you Bloomberg) and I do not feel tinhatty at all for thinking this is on the way.  If there can be bans on smoking in your own car if kids are present, there can be bans on what you eat.

I repeat - if the government cannot tell me whether or not I can put a dick in my mouth, the government cannot tell me whether or not I can put a donut in it.  I'm not simply using the sexual analogy for shock value.  I'm using it because the legal underpinnings of Roe v. Wade and Lawrence v. Texas should apply equally to what I eat as well as to who I eat.  Either I am in control of my body or I am not.  It is that simple.

Reason 7,192,982,300,923,828 Why I No Longer Give Money To The RNC

Fuck you, Newt. Stay on that couch with Pelosi.

Gingrich, who figures prominently in speculation about the 2012 presidential race {how? As a popcorn salesman at the Convention?-ed}, tells NBC's "Today" show Steele "is capable of taking us through the midterm elections {so is my daughter's doll collection. Maybe you should send the $$ to her. At least she won't waste it at bondage clubs-ed}." But he also suggests the embattled party chairman appoint an outsider to bring the party's finances under control.

Newt, it's fuckbaskets like you, Steele, the people who thought Dede of NY-23 was a wise choice, and the supporters of Crist who have brought us to this point. Or, are you too stupid to realize that?

Thanks

Damn Those Violent Teahadis...

Oh, never mind.

"No, the risk has not increased," IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman said. "There has been a lot of stuff in the press about increased threats, which is actually inaccurate."

Fears that IRS employees could be targets soared after a Feb. 18 incident in which a disgruntled Texas software engineer flew a small plane into the side of an IRS facility in Austin. One longtime agency employee was killed in the attack.

Some liberal groups and bloggers also have raised fears that anti-tax and anti-government rhetoric employed on talk radio and by protesters within the "tea party" movement could incite violence against IRS agents. Critics of Mr. Obama's health care reform plan in the Republican Party and the tea party movement have warned that the government plans to hire thousands more IRS agents to enforce the plan's mandate that all citizens purchase health care coverage.

But Mr. Shulman, in a luncheon address at the National Press Club, said that had not been the case.

"What there has been is increased chatter on the Internet that has an anti-government sentiment, and the issue of taxes has gotten swept into it," he said. "And there's a lot of difference between people not liking taxes, people not liking the tax system or having issues with the government, and it actually being a safety issue for my employees."

Heh. Nice to see another lefty meme fall apart.

Oh, and fuck you, lefties for spreading these lies.

I'm not the kind of person who normally gives two fucking shits about swearing, but...

...when the President's own official store turns an embarrassing gaffe into a selling point for merchandise, well, that's a little bit different, now, isn't it? A little bit different and oh so classy.

Let's imagine this was a Bush/Cheney thing, huh? Yeah.

Here's What I Think Of Your Call For Civility

This DNC Press Release Politico Article seems to be genuinely dismayed that our congressbetters have not been treated warmly by the lumpenproletariat as they return home bearing the spoils of class warfare and gifts of Obamacare. Witness the plight of some Democrats going home to New Hampshire.

While the landmark health care reform law is driving much of the hostility, at a handful of events here in the week after its passage, voters expressed profound cynicism and suspicion not just about the legislation but about Washington, government and virtually everything that came out of their legislators’ mouths.

A man who did not want to be identified said he pulled Hodes aside at the Manchester event to ask him why he wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. The congressman told him he’s allergic to gold. His constituent remained skeptical.

“It’s a satisfactory answer, but I don’t know if it’s true,” the man said afterward, citing “all the improprieties out there” as the reason he inquired.

For her part, at back-to-back town hall meetings in Bedford and Merrimack, Shea-Porter faced consistent boos, heckles and catcalls after almost every point she rattled off in defense of her vote.

Despite an effort to accommodate questions from the raucous crowds with a ticketed lottery system and a two-minute time limit for speakers, the congresswoman got little credit from the audience. If anything, it gave her opponents fresh ammunition.

"Why can't we ask a question?" yelled one man, objecting to a format that randomly selected numbers out of a tub of tickets to choose questioners.

"Are you a princess or a representative?" chastised one woman.

Yet another man was miffed that he received a form letter from the representative's office in response to six specific questions he sent her by mail.

"I expect a reply. I heard a position statement that did not answer any of my questions," complained Ben Niles of Merrimack.

Oh, and Lefties, I am amused by your sudden calls for civility, now that you are in the minority. In fact, I have a response.
