Waking up

I guess Charles Krauthammer hasn't received his unicorn yet:

After Obama's miraculous 2008 presidential campaign, it was clear that at some point the magical mystery tour would have to end. The nation would rub its eyes and begin to emerge from its reverie. The hallucinatory Obama would give way to the mere mortal. The great ethical transformations promised would be seen as a fairy tale that all presidents tell -- and that this president told better than anyone.

I thought the awakening would take six months. It took two and a half weeks.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything in the Constitution about "do-overs."  Damnit.

1 " I thought the awakening would take six months. It took two and a half weeks." I've come to realize this only applies to those that read or listen to media other than mainstream. When I hear people talk, they are firmly rooted in the dream world of their choosing. It takes a little work to be informed and I just don't see the populace going the extra mile.

I agree with mare.  Maybe there's some 'awakening' among the so-called intellegentsia (paging Peggy Noonan, your self-respect is on line 2).  And of course, among the internet conservatives, no awakening was needed.

However, the average voter would forget to eat if it weren't for the ads on TV.  Freaking John Murtha got reelected -- to me that pretty much sums up the state of utter political apathy and ignorance inherent in the majority of the populace.
