trust me benny, they don't need our help to do that

The Pope warns against undermining the UN, which you can pretty much read as criticizing the US for the tendency to engage in unilateral action.  You can argue against Iraq, but I'm damned tired of hearing the bitching about American unilateralism.  You want Americans to stop acting unilaterally? Then tell everyone else to do something for once!  He says,

He said the notion of multilateral consensus was "in crisis because it is still subordinated to the decisions of a few, whereas the world's problems call for interventions in the form of collective action by the international community."

No, multilateral consensus is in crisis because only the few (and by few, I mean mostly the US and a small number of allies) do anything to try and solve problems.  Does the US get things wrong sometimes, yeah, nobody has a perfect track record.

Of course, that's a handy thing for the rest of the western world, they can screech about a problem and never do anything about it, knowing we'll eventually move to solve said problem.  The US goes in to try and fix said problem, and everyone who sat on the sidelines bitches about how we do things.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Benny, I like you, you've done some good things for our church, and shown some good signs in facing the jihadis, but please, please quit trying to undermine American sovereignty

Oh, and as for undermining the UN, don't worry, the UN doesn't need any help in that endeavor
