The Obamessiah: The GOP will run on their hatred of black people.

Back it up with some facts, asshole:

"It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy," Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid.

"They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"

If that's not the language of healing and unity, then I don't know what is.  Make sure you head to the link to read the rest of Obama's thoughts.

I'm not surprised that the Democrats are throwing out accusations like this.  What does kind of shock me is that Obama himself is using this line of attack, instead of leaving to to surrogates and the Democratic National Committee.  What we are witnessing here is Sen. Obama finally secure in his belief that he is a secular Messiah.

I think that his arrogance could lead to his downfall.  This type of rhetoric will shore up his base, but I can't imagine it would help in winning over independents or, ahem, Obamacans.  He's allowed his hubris to build up so much that he doesn't even blink an eye when it comes to violating federal law on the campaign trail.

Exit question:  It's a good thing that McCain reprimanded the North Carolina GOP over their Jeremiah Wright ad, eh?  Otherwise the Obama campaign could have complained that the GOP was race-baiting or something.  Heh.

1 He's using the same old meme that the Democrats have used all my adult life, that the GOP uses anti-black bigotry to get votes from whites.
You know, those bitter clinging whites.  This quote does come from a fundraiser, doesn't it?

The seal, on the other hand, is a bunch of nothing. (Well, come to think of it, the seal is literally a bunch of nothing, but that's not what I intended.) It's not illegal. A likeness/facsimile has to be an exact duplicate--or so close that it's an almost exact duplicate. The only thing that's actually the same here is the eagle--the shield on the eagle's chest, the background to  the eagle, the color scheme and of course the texts are all different.  Even the olive branch and arrows are not drawn the same way as they appear on the official seals.  And I don't think anyone would take them to mean that some part of the government officially approves of BarackObama.com, which is the second requirement.

2 You know what?  I've known the whole omg raaaacist thing is coming, what with having that hurled at my head for the sin of being a conservative for years, and I simply don't fucking care anymore.  And that's the danger of this line of attack, people are sick to death of being told they're bigots for having the audacity to judge others by their views not their skin color.  Fine.  Think I'm a bigot.  I don't fucking care.

3 I knew it was coming, too.  I just didn't expect it this early, and straight from his mouth.  I figured he'd me smart enough to at least try to keep the post-racial myth going while his surrogates accused us of racism.

8 Yeah, the only thing I'm surprised by is that he was the one making the statements, not some lackey working for his campaign.
