Television without pity

I didn't bother to watch the Obamercial, but Jonathan Last over at the Weekly Standard blog did, comparing it (unfavorably, of course) to a middle school assembly. He was surprised about one aspect of it, though:

Never before have I noticed how wonderful commercials are. It's not until you're forced to go without the Geico cavemen for 30 straight minutes that you realize how much you appreciate them.
Yeah, I can do without the Geico cavemen (that sexy Esurance secret agent cartoon chick is another matter—don't you judge me!) but it looks like I really didn't miss much of anything. On the other hand, tonight's episode of Pushing Daisies on ABC—the only network that didn't show the ad—was quite entertaining.

2 You know who I feel for in commercials?  Poor Ned.  He didn't get the call!  He didn't know not to talk about the merger!  It's not his fault!  He shouldn't be getting throttled like that!

I love that and the Discovery Channel boomdeyada commercial.  The BFF and I randomly text BOOMDEYADA at each other while watching tv.

That commercial had to be a big waste of money.

I live in Virginia, if you think anybody in this state wants to see another political ad, you're on drugs. Particularly good drugs.

I would bet that the only people who watched that were either going to write about it or they were praying to their Messiah.

I also heard that McCain had ads right before and right after, is that true? If so, that would we darn funny and I would bet that more people saw McCain's ads than Obama!'s infomercial.

I know thatMcCain's commercials quite often follow Obama!'s here in VA. It's funny, you get one saying how great Obama! is and then you get one that says, "Everything that guy said is bull$hit."
