Suckers!
Be sure to watch this until the end...
Um, what did you think was gonna happen? Elections have consequences, apparently. Oops. But it sure was "historic" and all that.
I'm sorry that the people involved here got fooled, and this is a disgrace, but, well, you might just have to live with it. I mean, someone paid the piper (the teachers' unions, here) and the piper damn sure got to pick the tune.
Buyer's remorse sure is a fucking bitch, huh?

The sad thing is, the amount of money this program cost is *miniscule* in comparison to even a state budget. To give a little perspective, the federal budget for 2009 contains an estimated $568 million for adult education (PDF warning). The $18 million that was cut to voucher programs is a drop in that bucket. This is so obviously not a funding cut to save money.
Reasontv (or someone else) needs to find these ladies in two years and ask them how they feel their children's education was affected by two years of non-choice schools. Spots should be made from their comments, and they need to run on BET (assuming BET will agree to run them).
By the way, that report I linked proudly announces that education funding will be reduced by almost $4 billion. It also claims that NCLB was a success. Somehow I don't think that either of those statements will be making headlines.
