Being an asshole was not really part of it. He committed an assault. Pretty it up all you like, he was not arresting the kid, or attempting to defend himself, he simply assaulted him. I've got no sympathy for little skater punks, but that does not excuse the assault.

If he was fired for not following procedure, so be it. Frankly, though, I have no problems with his actions as depicted in the video. I am 46 years old. I remember being called out by strangers when I acted like a punk-ass teen. Now parents actually defend their kids bad behavior. Thanks for taking a stand Officer Rivieri.

I'll grant that it should not have become physical. OTHER than that, I have no problem with this kid getting his ass handed to him verbally. What is interesting to me is that the officer's language is perfectly appropriate. His tone and language was more like a drill sergeant (which is obviously what that kid needs).
