Look, this is exactly what happens when there is no functional party leadership, and there is no functional party leadership, oh, there are people holding positions, making statements and shifting money around, but they aren't leaders. Leaders lead, and you can't lead if the people you're attempting to lead have zero faith and trust in you.
There's a strong case to be made that Castle should be the guy, especially given that, as our friend and moronblogger-in-arms tmi3rd noted a few weeks ago on Twitter, Delaware is so blue it looks like a Smurf splatter flick, the question I guess becomes, is he in that acceptable range of RINOism, or has he reached that Linc Chafee/Scozzafava You know what, not worth it stage of RINOism? Beyond that, there's no doubt that O'Donnell is a bit flaky and off.
The problem is that the GOP leadership led the charge for Castle, because only the GOP leadership could get excited about a squish like him. Anything that the GOP leadership willingly supports is going to automatically be suspect amongst the grassroots and Tea Partiers, even if the blind pigs of the GOP leadership did in fact find a truffle. Those amongst us in the blogosphere and commentariat who are grinding their teeth over this Castle/O'Donnell thing need to chill the fuck out. We're getting angry at the wrong people.
In a way I'm reacting to the slapfight going on between the Powerline guys, Mark Levin, Patterico and Dan Riehl. One quote from Paul Mirengoff seems to really be the center of the shitstorm,
"It's disconcerting to realize that many of our activists aren't even as astute as the likes of Markos Moulitsas."
Instead of grinding his teeth and bitching about it, Mirengoff ought to be thrilled. A lot of these people didn't eat, sleep and breathe politics like the rest of us have for years, sometimes decades for us, and some never will. I'd rather have the extra people on board and work on polish and savvy than drive them off by sneering at them like the GOP leadership in DC and comparing them to human refuse like Kos. We wouldn't be doing what we're doing nationally without them here, and conservatives who are supporting Castle and grinding their teeth over O'Donnell's strong showing and tea party/grassroots support need to keep that in mind.

I'd trade either one of those two for our candidates...Sigh.

Well said DPUD. Main takeaway: People still read Powerline? Who knew? Those guys jumped the shark at least 3 years ago. They're establishment to the core and part of the problem, not the solution.

The message from all these political 'novices' is that they want the Government to get the fuck out of their lives. This is the problem with hoping that the GOP leadership responds appropriately, as they're all about perpetuation of their political power. Actually shrinking the influence of government is anathema to them as it would mean a reduction in their power.
The GOP establishment will fight the grassroots tooth and nail until they're swept aside. There is no hope of redemption for the permanent political class.

She's a disaster.

And that's how they put it, but people don't get really excited about giving the GOP leadership any power. Boehner wants us to support him as he's already giving up position in future bargaining on tax cuts.
Republicans have lost so many people because they were basically squishy Dems under Bush. "Better than the Dems" hasn't played for 3 elections.
They don't appear to have learned any lesson either. We saw that in Alaska.
As for mistakes, do our political betters do any better? How many "electable" candidates have actually won an election?
Kerry was "electable" right? So was McCain.
As we are seeing in Pennsylvania, the conservative can beat the squishy Republican, yet our political betters told us back in 06 that good old reliable Arlen was much better than that wingnut Toomey.
I'm not from Delaware, so it's not really my business, but...
Why should voters in Delaware vote for the squishy Republican who will vote like a Dem instead of the real Dem?
How is Castle going to differentiate himself? "I want most of what my opponent wants, just less of it!".
We get to see Minitru going after the woman the way they went after Hillary and Sarah Palin, that should be worth about 5 points all by itself as wymyn get all upset all over again.
The country is sick of the way the Dems have been screwing over and badmouthing America while running roughshod over laws. Even liberal people in Delaware have to be upset with what's going on. Chicago machine politics doesn't play well anywhere but in a handful of big cities.
And who wouldn't want someone in the Senate gumming up the works? I'm a little depressed Ron Paul isn't in the Senate. That body needs someone like him.

The Powerline guys are a little too "George Will Conservative" for my taste, but I've got to defend Mirengoff on one point:
When he talked about people on our side not being as astute as Kos, he was specifically referring to "leaders" like Riehl and Levin, not Joe Sixpack standing in the crowd at a Tea Party rally in Omaha. I get his point. If you're going to climb up on the podium and scream "I AM SPARTACUS! FOLLOW ME!", then you should probably not act like a thin-skinned pussy when someone points out the times when you misrepresent the facts and make wild leaps of illogic.

The Kucinich Privilege Resolution
Quote
Agreed to refer H. Res. 1258, impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors, to the Committee on the Judiciary by a yea-and-nay vote of 251 yeas to 166 nays, Roll No. 401.
Voting yes? Mike Castle, (R, DE).
Yay! He obviously is exactly the type of Republican we need.
It's an imperative.
Saw it at Gateway Pundit

BWAHAHA
So ...Castle/Pelosi 2012?
/sarc
LOL.
...O'Donnell! Fuck! Yeah! (sung to the tune ...)
Fire.Them.All.
...and then fire their replacements in the next election.
...lather/rinse/repeat.
It's time to get ALL these elitist fucks out of office. Back to their exclusive ass little compounds. We need an end to the political class. Period. GOP/Democrat ...fuck 'em all. No.More.Job.Security.
The magic will be in ...turnover.
For ...hmm ...3-to-6 or so election cycles should do it.
