Obama's Four Stages

RedState has found a pattern in the Obama campaign's crisis response.  Using the uproar that resulted from Obama putting Jim Johnson on his VP search committee as an example, they came up with the Four Stages of Obama Obfuscation:

1. Obama denies there is a problem.

2. Obama insists he was misunderstood.

3. Obama ignores the problem.

4. Obama caves.

It's a handy guide into which many of Obama's favorite rhetorical devices can safely fit.

For example, calling it a "distraction" would go into Stage One.

Saying "this is not the [insert name of current long-time Obama associate here] I knew" would fall into Stage Two.

A good example of Stage Three behavior would be that month-long hiatus between The Speech That Saved The World and the Obamessiah throwing Hate-monger Wright under the bus after his Nation Press Club appearance.

If, in throwing someone (or a whole church, natch) under the bus, you say you are doing it to help that person or group of people avoid unwanted attention you get Stage Four bonus points.

Exit question:  Is "caving in" a quality we really need in a President, especially one who wants to meet with Iran without any qualifications?
