Obama Will Lose Ohio

If this is any indication:

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) was Shermanesque on Tuesday in saying that he would "absolutely not" be Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., running mate even if asked to join the Democratic ticket.

Asked on NPR's "All Things Considered" if he is auditioning to be Obama's running mate, Strickland said, "Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve.

So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be."
Good.

Update: Also, is the Obama Campaign pulling out of Wisconsin?  As a citizen of the state, I'd say he might as well.  The purple nature of the state just won't vote for another hardcore socialist (Feingold).

1 Looks like the Eggman got that same email...interesting, so is he bailing or is he confident and focusing resources elsewhere?

2 Well, it's funny.  Obama won the Democratic primary by a very solid margin which would lead you to believe he is strong here but I suspect they did some internal polling and have found that he just can't win.

I, for example, am not registered Republican and many, many people in WI aren't registered at all.  It is a very independent state.

I'd guess that nearly all of the independents here will vote for McCain, and a good number of the Union-style Democrats as well.

This is all just based on my gut at this point as I've seen no convincing polling information thus far.

Wisconsin is only mildly important in the grand electoral picture but it would be good for McCain to get them nonetheless.

3 I hate to say it, but I am in the "he's confident" camp. He has been polling well there, it's next door to IL, and he can bank on Milwaukee's vote fraud (remember the video of that Gore Staffer giving a hobo smokes to vote?) will keep that safely in the Blue column (sadly).

Obama was here in STL today, and the MSM kneepads were in full force, and the McCaskill 2006 Senate victory is proof enough of how the STL (and KC to a lesser extent) MSM can sway an election in the ultimate bellweather toss up state. If MO starts to trend Obama, it's probably Game Over.

4 I posted #3 before #2 came up. I have been going by the RCP averages that have it going Blue

5 I saw it at 48-45 Obama right now but I think a vast swath of centrist voters will swing hard away from him as they get to know him.

If he's that confident, he's even stupider than I thought.  This isn't California.  We've continuously trended back to the center (right, the last two) as the elections have worn on.  Wisconsin likes to keep it close.

6 I wouldn't go as far as the commenter at Eggman's who talking about lying, but  I wouldn't consider the GOP the most authoritative source on what the Democrats are planning.

The state organization wasn't needed after the primary, and so it didn't get any resources;  there's nothing to say that it won't be started up again now that the Barack-Hillary deathmatch is over.

7 I suppose we'll have to wait and see.  Like I said, I only have my gut telling me how to feel on this one and it seems to be contradicted by some evidence.

It is interesting at least.
