"Over 50 million people voted for me and Sarah Palin - mostly for Sarah Palin," McCain said to an eruption of laughter. But "there was a sizable majority of the other party returned to Congress. And, elections have consequences. Elections have consequences. And these consequences we are seeing now in full display."I'd like to amend his statement to say that primary elections have consequences. Because, be honest, would anything Obama has done be that much different if McCain had won?

I've been mulling this over the last few weeks and have to say that yes, things would be quite different had the country not been so drunk on unicorn piss that they elected this idiot.
Sure, McCain is a RINO, but he's not stupid and genuinely has the best interest of the country at heart. He probably would have supported a second stimulous bill, but I think he would have taken the time to actually read it and make congress strike some of the more egregious junk. He would also have had a cabinet picked, properly vetted, and ready to go instead of preening for two months in front of TV cameras with a fake office logo.
One of the reasons Urkel bounces from one gaffe and disaster after another, besides the fact he's an incompetent boob, is that everyone knows it and truly competent people don't want to work for him. Think about it. Would you want the last item on your resume to be that you were an official in the shittiest administration in over 100 years? The other reason he can only attract Clinton re-treads and tax cheating, corrupt, un-inspiring people to work for him is because he hasn't been around politics long enough to know anyone else. He's also a narcissistic, insecure prick who cannot stand to be upstaged by anyone. Why do you think he picked a complete nincompoop like Joe Biden as VP? Biden couldn't upstage a slime mold.
McCain has his faults, but I don't think for a minute he'd have surrounded himself with as many dolts and dregs as Urkel has. Urkel's ego and narcissism prevent him from admitting even the tiniest of mistakes. Had McCain made the mistake of appointing someone as grossly ill prepared for a job as Geithner, for example, he'd have fired him weeks ago.
And that's just the financial and cabinet goofs. McCain has decades of diplomatic and international experience at various levels. He wouldn't be caught dead insulting our allies, much less allow the Russians and Chinese to push us around without saying something. Reset button my ass. He'd have reset a secy of state in a second.

If only he understood/cared why that is so, he might have had even more people vote for him.
All the stay at homers that have been attacked for allowing Obama to be elected might not have stayed at home.

During September last year, when Lehman Bros filed bankruptcy, AIG got their first bailout "loan" and McCain suspended his campaign, McCain said a very smart thing. He called for the firing of the SEC chairman due to the lack of oversight. Had they been monitoring the credit raters properly, some of these things might have turned out differently. They were asleep at the wheel and McCain was justified to call for their heads on a platter. He didn't need to be an economic genius to figure out where the buck stopped.
What? You missed that news in the MSM back in September? Color me surprised.
