Moron Pundit's NFL Power Rankings

I've decided that the talking heads on TV are on crack when it comes to who's great and who's not.  For example, they selected the Packers and the Eagles to be in the NFC Championship Game this year before the season started and that was and is just fucking ridiculous.

So, here is my list of the best NFL teams after week 2 (I know I'm doing this before the Monday Night Game but nothing that could happen in that game will move either of those teams for me.)

Bonus points for the person that lodges the most humorous disagreement.
1.  New York Football Giants - There is nothing about this team that isn't good and in most categories, they're great.  Going into Dallas for the first game in the Jones Colosseum and winning really showed me something.

2. Baltimore Ravens - We all knew they had a killer defense but with an emerging offense, I can't see them losing more than 3 or 4 games.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers - They may have lost to the Bears but on the road to a decent team without their top defensive star.  Polamalu will bounce back and so will the team.

4. Dallas Cowboys - Tony Romo can't suck this hard for the rest of the season, can he?  I think not and that's why they're so high on the list.  The rest of the team looked really sharp last night and they would have smashed the Giants if Romo was even a little consistent.

5. Minnesota Vikings - I really hate to rank any team with Brett Favre this high but I think that's the point.  He doesn't matter at all to the calculus.  Add the greatest running back in the game (maybe ever but we'll see), a crushing defense and a QB that is good at managing the game and you've got a winning combination.

6. Tennessee Titans - Sure they lost a game they really shouldn't have to the Texans but I still think their defense will shut down the opposition more often than not as the season plays out.

7. New England Patriots - Another team that lost a game they really shouldn't have to what I consider to be inferior opposition.  Brady will get his groove back and their defense will continue to keep their opponents to relatively low totals.  They'll take their now mediocre division.

8. New Orleans Saints - They have a shitty defense.  Who fucking cares?  When you can put up that many points on the Eagle's defense, who cares that you give up 35 points per game?  Very few teams will be able to keep up with them and Drew Brees is going to break all sorts of single-season records this year.

9. Philadelphia Eagles - I've never put much stock in McNabb when it comes to winning big games and the fact that he's injury prone doesn't help.  Their defense IS good, however no matter how many points New Orleans put up against them.  Still, they're going to have a hard time making the playoffs if they get into a hole in that division.

10. Atlanta Falcons - This team gets 4 automatic wins from inside their division and seems to just play winning football.  Nothing outstanding about the team but they get the job done.

11. Green Bay Packers - It is only due to one of the best QB's in the league and a solid, big play defense that they are ranked this high.  Their offensive line sucks hard.  You don't go to the playoffs if your line sucks and you certainly don't win there.

12. New York Jets - Good defense.  Solid, if inconsistent rookie quarterback.  They'll have a winning season but miss the playoffs.

13. Chicago Bears - Call it a homer pick and you're not far off but I like what I see on defense and unlike Grossman, Cutler throwing 4 picks is a fluke.  They'll be solid on offense and solid on defense and pull out ten wins with a weak schedule.

14. Arizona Cardinals - Can't beat the 49ers?  Stomped a hapless Jacksonville team?  I'm not impressed.  The offense is so far inconsistent and the defense is nothing to write home about.  If their great corners start making big plays I might change my mind.

15. Washington Redskins - Worst team in the best division in football again this year.  They have a lot of pieces but don't seem to know what the puzzle is supposed to look like.

16. San Francisco 49ers - I am not surprised that they are 2 - 0 to start the season and I won't be surprised when they post a winning season.  Changes are afoot under the command of Mike Singletary and this club will show it isn't just getting lucky.

17. Buffalo Bills - Another team that is good but manages to miss the bus on great for reasons I can't explain.  Once again, they'll struggle through the season but not get anywhere.

18. Indianapolis Colts - An already anemic offense lost Gonzalez in week one and there really isn't much to get excited about in Indianapolis anymore.  I think its almost time to admit it and get to rebuilding.  Losing the coach also had a bigger effect than I'd anticipated.

19. Carolina Panthers - Sure, they've been embarrassed twice and Jake Delhomme can't seem to do anything right but, in the end, they're an average football team that will accomplish average things.

20. San Diego Chargers - I've never believed the hype and I REALLY don't now.  They have all the names but none of the guts to win in the NFL.

21. Seattle Seahawks - This team seems to have no idea how to compete, let alone win.

22. Houston Texans - If I have to pick a team that will outperform my rankings, this is the one.  They showed me something against the Titans but I just don't think they can perform at that level reliably enough to be a contender.  We'll see.

23. Denver Broncos - They are 2-0 but they got lucky against a really shitty team in week one and crushed a truly pathetic team in week two.  Let me know how they do when they play a real NFL team.

24. Miami Dolphins - Last year was a fluke.  Write it down in your book of knowledge.  Sure, they're better than they were 4 years ago but that's not saying much.

25. Cincinnati Bengals - Yes, they beat the Packers in Lambeau but the Packer's O-line made their defense look great and their run game had the nascent 3-4 confused all day.  I don't expect that type of success to last.  Carson Palmer tried really hard to lost that game and I think he'll be more successful at it in the future.

26. Oakland Raiders - With a true dedication to rebuilding, the Raiders are the best they've been in years and I expect they'll be contenders in their division within three years.  Just, not this year.

27. Kansas City Chiefs - I don't even know where to start with what's wrong with KC.  They're bad plain and simple.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars - There is nothing good about this team either.  They might have a good running game if their passing game was threatening enough to get less than 8 guys in the box.  It isn't.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Heh.  Whenever they're on the field they should cue up the circus music.  Its going to be a LONG season in Tampa Bay.

30. St. Louis Rams - Hey, they hung in there against a much better Washington team.  Of course, they choked in the end.  There just isn't enough talent on this team to win games.

31. Cleveland Browns - They'll be really lucky if they win more than two games.  Of course, they'll win one against the worst team in professional sports.

32. Detroit Lions - This is the worst professional sports team in history.  Period.  Other than the statistical inevitability that they'll get lucky some time this season, I'd say they could easily lose every game again this year.  They are just that bad.
