McCain Goes to Burger King

And somehow, he manages to both serve up lots of Whoppers and get it his way.  What amazes me is how conservatives are willing to roll over and forgo their principles, no wonder we don't get anything accomplished, we're almost as willing to sell out as the GOP elite.  Here's Tammy Bruce and and Allah declaring "SECOND LOOK AT McCAIN!", and I'm left asking, why?  Why hand him what he wants, it makes not one bit of sense.

We need to learn where we went wrong in 2008, and see why we're still getting it wrong.  Conservatives have no reason to jump on board the Straight Talk Express right now, none.  I'm absolutely stunned by the number of people who are doing so, if not fully jumping on board, then at least softening their rhetoric.

It makes no sense for us to do so, Sun-Dub the Strategerist has things absolutely correct, we have no reason to give McCain what he wants right now, we get nothing by doing so, we're better off stringing him along and trying to, God forbid, make concessions to his own side, using the threat of not showing up to polls to get some concessions.  I haven't decided what to do, but for those who are willing to eat the turd sandwich, why not try and at least score some condiments?

Beyond that, Sun-Dub the Strategerist also has this right, McCain's speech today is pandering crap, and people are way too willing to accept it.  McCain's still got a legion of amnesty supporters and other assorted RINOs around him, when we see Juan Hernandez and a few other shady guys thrown the hell out of of his campaign, that might be a sufficient show of goodwill for us not to dismiss him out of hand.  But the willingness of conservatives to accept his bullshit platitudes remind me of the Chinpokomon episode of South Park.

Shouldn't that be "jearous"?

Color me also puzzled. I don't get it. There's nine months to go. It really isn't necessary to unite behind anything right this second, and that guy's the biggest turd sandwich on the menu.

I'm grumpy and sore and the McCainiacs think they can get me on board by taunting me and calling me names.

Thuck fat. I'll be over here sulking. They learn some manners, maybe they can try approaching me again...in a few months.

The reanimated corpse of amnesty is a plank in the new Republican platform ? I can't even get my mind around it yet. I am aghast at the attitude of many of the long-time-conservatives -turned -McCainiacs at AOS and elsewhere who are so willing to cash in principle for "the big win".

It's like the placating address of the father in the Holy Grail wedding scene: "This is supposed to be a...happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue about 'oo killed 'oo! ".

only it's not funny...

Great analysis, nice blog, ++undead/sinistar.

Me too, one speech after years of this guy being a total jackhole isn't gonna do it for me.

6 Where we went wrong in 2008??

The establishment RINO socialism-light wing of the GOP derailed the conservative movement in 1994.

7 Yeah, where we went wrong was letting them.

8 Perhaps I gave up too easy.  After the failure of the 1994 congress under Gingrich to make any real budget cuts I joined the Libertarian Party where I have been ever since.  An interesting bunch, half uber-fiscal-conservatives and half barking moonbats.

9 We opened up the "big tent" to embrace skinnied down conservatives (conservatives on one or two issues, moderate to left on others) and they didn't assimilate, they changed the party.  I don't mind lefties, at least I see what they are and where they're coming from.  But Reps got fat and lazy, and pandered like hell, spent like hell, and lost their focus.  Guys like Bob Ney and Duke Cunningham absolutely sold out.  We allowed our opponents to drive wedges in that we created, and they hammered us with them (life, religion).
