Does anyone else have a problem with this?
In an article about how Obama and Sheriff Pluggy are backing the Employee Free Choice Act (aka Card Check, aka Banning Secret Ballots), I noticed this little nugget:
Before the inauguration, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney said he'd been to the White House only once in the past eight years. Now he visits at least once a week.Well, that's just great. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sure going to sleep better from now on, knowing that a union boss like Sweeney has such easy access to the president.

True story, 100%
I worked at a feeder plant for ford in chicago, and they were working for unionizations.
There are short votes, basicaly, just everyone interested in unions voting, to organize for the new local.
I was one of those interim union officers, and I hate unions.
"Our wages are fucked because they think that you are just gonna jack them up, and demand seniority based overtime, that increases cost. I want nothing to do with this."
I was told, and this is the surprising part, that many of the people with union backgrounds agree'd. "we should not be about wages, we should be about security and training."
I was voted out by the "comittee" 3 times and voted back in 3 times by the workers.
I don't know how I do this, but I tend to end up with positions I despise. I actually wrote the "local's" constitution. . .actually re-wrote it, cuz the original was so retardedly inarticulate, but cuz I was so liked and so intricately involved with the writing, noone would let me go.
The "president" of the organizing commitee (I was Sgt at Arms) wanted me booted, and I simply said "boot me, I hate being here at all."
"Then why are you here?"
"cuz my friends gave me the job, how about you?"
I absolutely hated how everyone in the organizing comitee was an idiot. Other than rosie, who loved me,and she had been union for decades, (she also tried CONSTANTLY to hook me up with her daughter when she realized that the love of my life is black) but she didn't want bullies in the union, she wanted thinkers in the union.
She herself wasn't all that bright, but she saw that unions allowed stupid people to bully smart people and she hated it.
sorry, I went off the rails.
