SRSLY?  The DoJ is backing DC in the Supreme Court case, which would overturn the gun ban in DC if DC loses.  I hope Fred capitalizes on this and rips Bush apart for this latest sellout. 

As shaky as the conservative coalition is right now, the last thing we need is to piss off gunowners too, they do stay home when they don't get what they want, and they do get results, even the Democrats are avoiding gun control as an issue, because they know better after the 1994 revolution and subsequent GOP wins.  Bush would be wise to heed the words of his predecessor, but he's a tin-eared retard, so I'm not real optimistic,

The NRA had a great night. They beat both Speaker Tom Foley and Jack Brooks, two of the ablest members of Congress, who had warned me this would happen. Foley was the first Speaker to be defeated in more than a century. Jack Brooks had supported the NRA for years and had led the fight against the assault weapons ban in the House, but as chairman of the Judiciary Committee he had voted for the overall crime bill even after the ban was put into it. Its amazing, the GOP really has become Diet Democrat.  How can you support this stupid ban anyway, it hasn't even worked!  Its incredible really, this is like picking another Amnesty fight.  Why do GOP elite keep doing this?  I just don't get it.
