A couple of thoughts...
When is the UN going to start acknowledging that Hamas is responsible for injuries and deaths resulting from putting women and children in the way?
Human casualties aside*, would it really be that awful if a bunch of UN buildings went away?
*Given that Hamas views human casualties as a wash at best and a bonus at worst (in normal moral terms, anyway - I think they would call the bonus a good thing), I think it's perfectly rational to have this discussion.

I was in a hospital waiting room today, and I read a TIME from February where they had "10 Questions for Henry Louis Gates Jr.", which you can find online as well. I hadn't seen it linked anywhere.
It's an interesting look at the man before the Crowley incident. Conclude from it what you will (if anything).

Are you hungry for some good old fashioned Ad Hominem? Then come on down to the Huffington Post, where it's served up hot and fresh daily! Today they're discussing the scandal so nice they named it twice: Gatesgate!
Be warned, though, that the comments have turned into a mass grave which is swallowing strawmen by the hundreds. Click on the link if you dare, but first be sure to lay a sheet of Saran Wrap over your keyboard to protect it from the tears which shall surely short it out as you weep for the poor, innocent strawmen who never got the chance to dance with their Dorothys.

They can take my letter opener from my cold dead hands.

He still has a job approval rating well over 50 percent in most polls, clear evidence the president remains personally well-liked, although his numbers are lower than they were in the national euphoria immediately after he took power.Gee, I guess they're finally getting wise to the idea that the guy who was supposed to be the moderate Post-Partisan Prez is actually a far-left ideologue, hell bent on turning this country into a European-style socialist welfare state. But Americans are beginning to sour on his economic policies. A USA Today/Gallup poll last week said that by 49 percent to 47 percent, those surveyed disapprove of how he is handling the economy, a turnaround from his 55 percent to 42 percent approval in May.
The poll said the biggest drop came from conservative and moderate Democrats.
Better late than never, I guess.

Details on the town hall meeting are over at Gateway Pundit, linked above. Eddie, I expect pictures, unless they're criminally incriminating.
After the incident at her office on Friday, July 17, 2009, Senator McCaskill has arranged for her district director, Michelle Sherod to meet with constituents at a town hall meeting Monday night. AFPMO will be moderating the meeting and Ms Sherod will be taking questions for the Senator.
...
Now here's the latest...
The Far-Left kooks at Daily Kos are promoting the open meeting tomorrow and are planning on crashing the event.
This is your opportunity to speak out for the future of your country, your children and your freedoms. This is your chance to speak out against the devastatation of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Regime.
** Please plan on attending this meeting tomorrow. **

First, today is my birthday. Yes, it's a Major One. Yes, I'm having Issues. But, hey, it's better than the alternative.
Second, I'm out of the country visiting the BFF for a week and I have limited internet access so I might not be around very much. I'm not ignoring the fascinating things y'all are saying, I'm just not able to read it.
Don't do anything I wouldn't do.

If anyone had said the same of Hillary Clinton (before she became the enemy of The One, and after she became His Secretary of State, I mean) I'm pretty sure there would have been hell to pay. Funny, that.

[Joseph A. Dear, the fund’s new head of investments] wants to embrace some potentially high-risk investments in hopes of higher returns. He aims to pour billions more into beaten-down private equity and hedge funds. Junk bonds and California real estate also ride high on his list. And then there are timber, commodities and infrastructure.
That’s right, he wants to load up on many of the very assets that have been responsible for the fund’s recent plunge.
Only thing missing? Unicorn farts. That's about as wise as doubling down on the shitty deals that brought you to this point.
Gah! Good thing California has a fiscal conservative in Sacramento.

I guess 18-month-old girls aren't as enamored of the sound of four massive jet engines several hundred feet above their heads as I am.
The sound of freedom, indeed. Inspiring.

In March, President Obama announced that government officials would not be allowed to consider the views of lobbyists regarding specific stimulus projects unless the requests are put in writing. The materials also had to be posted on an agency’s website within three business days of receipt. Lobbyists have said that the policy was one more example of the administration's disdain for their industry.
Now, the just-revised rules will allow government personnel to accept meetings and calls from federally registered lobbyists on the implementation of stimulus projects. The head of the Office of Management and Budget, Peter Orszag, issued a new guidance late Friday regarding the administration's communications with registered lobbyists about economic recovery funds.
Lobbyists can make their cases -- and agency officials can listen to them -- at "widely attended gatherings." Government officials have to ask whether the person they are talking to at such events is a federally registered lobbyist speaking on behalf of a client.
Most. Ethical. Folks. Evah. It's almost as if Obama really doesn't mean what he says when he says it.

Recall that I'm on record saying that I would be in favor of the gov't providing free facial tattoos, think of it as branding morons so they'll be instantly recognizable.
In today's first example, we have "Crazy Cracker". And no, that's not what Obama's friends call him, that's what he calls himself
Quote
It wasn't difficult for the victims of a Tampa, Fla., home invasion to identify the burglar. He was the only suspect with the state of Florida tattooed on his face. That and the words "Crazy Cracker" written on his head.
He has the state of Florida tattooed on his face with the words Crazy Cracker and he didn't cover it while committing a crime.
I'm not sure if that can be made funnier. Well, maybe he could have an arrow pointing to where he lives in Florida, but that's just quibbling.
Next up, another facial tattoo guy in Utah of all places
Police said Reyes was recognized because of his many facial tattoos, including a spiderweb on his forehead.
There's a very strong case that facial tattoos are a societal good and I wouldn't be all that upset if the gov't paid for them. I would suggest it falls under "Promoting the common good".

[Warren] Buffett has agreed to lend his voice for a cartoon version of himself in a series called the Secret Millionaire's Club. Each episode will be three to five minutes long."What better time to help educate our kids about financial responsibility," Mr Buffett said of the series which will be produced by a company called A Squared and is one of four new programmes the company is making.
Yeah. What better time, huh? Asshole.
Oh, and get this, from an interview promoting the new cartoon:
"Ten years from now the dollar will buy a lot less than it buys now," he said. "It will be the consequence of what we're doing now. It doesn't mean what we're doing now is wrong at all."
Yeah, I guess it's pretty easy to say that when you've still got, you know, billions of those fucking devalued dollars to spend. When you're a middle class family, maybe not so much.
Anybody who listens to this guy ever again is a fucking fool.

(CNSNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden told people attending an AARP town hall meeting that unless the Democrat-supported health care plan becomes law the nation will go bankrupt and that the only way to avoid that fate is for the government to spend more money.Everyone pretty roundly ridiculed him for the remark but this evening I realized he is teeling the truth. Here's the realization I came to - Health care reform isn't really about health care at all, it's about reducing the entitlement burden from an aging US population. By rationing care to older people they will die off sooner reducing the long term costs to Social Security and Medicare. It's a short term investment for a long term payoff. Sneaky 'lil batards huh?
