So, how's that working out for you?

About a decade ago the UK pretty much completely banned gun ownership. Hilarity, by which I mean an 89% increase in gun crime then ensued.

Yeah, no one saw that coming.  And by no one, of course, I mean anyone with half a functioning brain cell.  Let's see, you tell the world that the citizenry can't defend itself.  Who could possibly anticipate that criminals would leap all over that.

It's things like this that contribute to the disturbing rise of the BNP in the UK.  Let's get one thing clear, I loathe the BNP.  They're neo-Nazis, pretty much straight up.  Now, I think they have every right to exist and to speak.  Hell, I much prefer it when people self-identify as idiots.  But it certainly appears that the Tories and Labour really don't want to talk about the things that matter to the average citizen.  The BNP does.  If that's the only option, well, people are going to take it.  And that's greatly disturbing.

Rough economy out there

How rough?

Well,

The man, whose description was sketchy , entered the fast-food restaurant just after 2 p.m. Monday and pointing a gun at the cashier, demanded money and told the cashier to get on the floor, said Lt. John Hickey of the Haverstraw Police Department.

The man then walked into the manager's office, which is located at the back of the store.

"He requested an application for employment and the manager said ‘No,'" Hickey said. The manager asked the suspect to leave; he left the premises in an unknown direction.

You asked for it, you got it!!!!

Stoaty is proud to announce that the first round of ZOMBIE REAGAN!!! gear is available at her Zazzle store!!!

(Can you tell I'm excited?  I'm bouncing up and down in my chair like a little monkey while I'm typing this.)

Hopefully on its way - Zombie Reagan stamps.  Those have to go through an approval process, so we'll have an idea of which side of the aisle Zazzle falls on if they're rejected.  It's not like it's nude pictures of alexthechick, after all...

Update: Zazzle turned down the postage stamps, "Design incorporates the name or likeness of a current or former world leader or politician, or a local, regional, national or international leader, religious figurehead, or politician." which apparently was in their guidelines but Stoaty was hoping they'd get sloppy.  I don't see any Obama stamps, so at least they're consistent.

Behold The Tolerance And Sheer Lunacy Of The Left, Vol. Eleventy Bazillion And Five

Holy shit! This guy is so fucking crazy, I don't even know where to begin. But, obviously, he must have some issues with Dick Cheney.

MIKE MALLOY: Cheney, by the way, looks very ruddy. I couldn’t get over that. Like he must have feasted on a Jewish baby or a Muslim baby. He must have sent his people out to get one and bring it back so he could drink its blood. Because that – you know, that’s what somebody like Cheney does to get that ruddy look … it was very clear that he had been eating the blood of either a Jewish or a Muslim baby.

Mike, just a tip: the "Cool Facts About Dick Cheney" Thread was just a joke, mmmkay?!?

I'm from the government, and I'm here to help!

The government in American Samoa received major grants from DHS in order to build better tsunami warning and detection systems...so let's skip the theatrics and buildup and just get down to it.  $25K in big screen TVs, $4K in leather furniture, $77K in "equipment" that no one can account for or locate, and of course an untold fortune in travel and entertainment.

DHS eventually cut off the money flow and won't issue more funds until American Samoa pays back some of the misused funds, as they should have, but of course there still is no decent tsunami warning system there as a result.  So naturally, there was a tsunami in late September that killed 34 people and caused millions in property damage, and the Samoan government is about as effective in delivering relief as FEMA.  And people wonder why us eeeeevil wingnutty wingnuts are so skeptical of government...

The Alan Grayson Crazy Value Meal: Moonbattery With A Supersized Dose Of Asshattery On The Side

Wow. Just wow.

Republicans and Democrats slammed Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) for calling Linda Robertson, an adviser to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, a “K Street whore” in a month-old radio interview that circulated on Capitol Hill Monday night.

“There’s no call for that language. No call for it. That’s absurd. If he was standing here now, I’d say that to him,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.)

“He’s out of control,” added Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who is vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference.

The remarks are the latest to surface in a string of controversial statements by Grayson, who said on the Alex Jones radio show {yup. Truther goodness right there-ed.}that he believes Robertson, a former Enron lobbyist, is not qualified to pass judgment on intricate financial matters {and this lunatic is?-ed}.

It’s clear that his colleagues’ opinion of him has suffered.

“Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” asked Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)

I figure Grayson will be back down in Florida soon, shaking down people at Magic Games for money.

Was John Hughes a visionary?

A dude from Chicago?  Check.  Someone who can scam just about everyone?  Check.  Borrowing stuff that wasn't his?  Check.  A following of fanboys/girls who think he's the coolest thing EVAR?  Double check...

Sloan was way hotter than Michelle, though.  I'm just saying is all.

I'm giving it an A+

If you don't like this transcript of Hugh Hewitt making the twat Frum taste the curb, you are not to be trusted as an analyst.

Now the question is, how did this exchange of words help Mitt Romney?

Who knows best?

As far as our strategy in Afghanistan, does the commander on the ground, General Stanley McChrystal, have the right idea, or does General Senator John Kerry know what we should be doing over there?  More importantly, who will Obama listen to?

Don't answer that.

Indeedyheh

This is a pretty hilarious look at how different types of international relations theory would respond to the ZA.

My favorite part is this:

This would give states a great opportunity to cooperate on the issue by quickly fashioning a World Zombie Organization (WZO) that would codify and promnulgate rules on how to deal with zombies. Alas, the effectiveness of the WZO would be uncertain. If the zombies had standing and appealed any WZO decision to wipe them out, we could be talking about an 18-month window when zombies could run amok without any effective regulation whatsoever. Fortunately, the United States would likely respond by creating the North American F*** Zombies Agreement -- or NAFZA -- to handle the problem regionally.

I really really want a NAFZA shirt now.  Oh and the comments are fantastic as well.

False Realism - A Message to the GOP

Dear GOP,

You claim to be the big boys in the room - the mature, calculating ones. Please act that way. Accept the reality on the ground. You need conservatives -- in NY-23 and elsewhere.

By now, the party should have realized that the conservative base is a parameter, not a variable to be manipulated or tweaked. They're here to stay. If you flip them off, they'll flip you off. Call it immature, unreasonable – whatever floats your boat – but acknowledge that it is real and enduring. Conservatives will not put up with ultra-liberal Republicans.

You seem to not appreciate the dividing line between moderate and liberal. For instance, Moderate Republican Congressman Jim Gerlach has an ACU rating just a tick over 60, and we're cool with him. Heck, he's running for statewide office in PA, and if this Bonusgate thing gets out of hand for Corbett he may have a shot. Liberal Senators Snowe and Collins (who frankly get quite a bit of leeway) have ACU ratings just under 50. Specter's ACU rating as of 2008 was a dismal 44.47. Linc Chafee's life number? 34 and change.

Do you see the a pattern here? If you shove somebody down our throats who is with us less than half the time we have serious problems.

The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally — not a 20 percent traitor. - Ronald Reagan

If only we had more candidates with whom we agreed 80% of the time! As an empirical and practical matter, conservatives are basically OK with 60%, particularly in swing districts. 50% gets us irritated. Below that and the party is really asking for trouble.

Now, as Scozzafava has no Congressional voting record and thus no ACU figure, a little guess work is called for. But from where most conservatives see it, she's well below 50%. She's Arlen Specter in drag. That's a problem.

Is Hoffman a great fit for the district? Maybe not. But you probably should have thought of that earlier. Who is the Conservative party supposed to put up? A moderate? No, it’s on you – the party, the big boys, the ones with supposed power and insight – to put forth acceptable candidates.

When I see people like Newt Gingrich saying “You can’t have a purely right-wing majority” to justify his endorsement of Scozzafava, he’s engaged in a false realism about electoral politics. His statement is surely true, but his application of it is horribly flawed.

Get real. Grow up. Be strategic. Cut your losses. Dump Dede.

That is, dump her if you're more interested in winning the seat than teaching conservatives a lesson about insurgency. You're supposed to be all about winning, right?

"Here, Watch This Drive", Redux

Remember when Pres. Bush was mocked for his golfing? Well, I am sure the MSM and Michael Moore will be all over this one.

Meanwhile, The White House is crafting a response.

Now even the lefties hate Michael Moore

During a recent appearance on ABC’s late-night program “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Mr. Moore gave an account — apparently tongue in cheek — of how he drank a bottle-and-a-half of tequila with Mr. Chávez at the Venice Film Festival in September, and how he mistook Venezuela’s burly foreign minister, Nicolás Maduro, for a bodyguard.

Those comments have created an uproar here among some of Mr. Chávez’s loyal supporters, known as Chavistas.

So now the left hates him too. Pretty quick only space aliens will be watching his movies.

No, Augustus, You Did Not Let Us Down.

The young priest at my church doubles as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and just returned from a month-long deployment to an airbase in Germany that also contains a medical center. I forget which one he said, so I'll stick with Germany for now.

Father detailed some of his duties, and how his faith, as well as the power of the Holy Spirit, helped guide him through some difficult moments as he provided spiritual comfort to some severely wounded servicemembers who have to stay there for a long recovery. He also thanked us for our prayers, cards, gifts for the troops, and the like. All was well and good, until he mentioned tending to a Polish soldier (I forget the rank he gave) fluent in English named Augustus. Augustus had been in the hospital for some time as the result of an explosion, and the prognosis called for even more time in recovery. What Augustus said was to our priest was so overpowering, so encouraging, and so heartbreaking, given the state of affairs in Eastern Europe right now.

For you see, Augustus apologized for letting America down. He said he and his country promised to be with America to the end, and that "The Explosion", as he called it, kept him from staying with us. Father, of course, reassured Augustus that, no, he did not let America down, for he will always be with us, and that America is grateful to him and all of our allies for risking so much to help us fight terrorism and will never forget him.

Sadly, the Obama Administration seems content to abandon Augustus and his country with the latest missile plans for Eastern Europe. Sadly, while Augustus didn't let us down, I fear Obama will let him down. And to that, I wish to apologize to the brave folks around the world like Augustus, for sacrificing so much for us. And to the people in our country who support Obama, who support his plans, and who call his opponents Traitors, this Traitor has something to say:

Random insomniac thought

You know how nearly all of we Ebil Conservatives used to get all upset because President Bush wouldn't defend himself?  Doesn't that seem fanfreakingtastic now that President Obama refuses to STFU about, well, anything and everything?
