Noting that Latino voters "helped Obama win in key battleground states" like New Mexico (and I must say, great job on the Amnesty strategy there, Maverick!), AP reporter Nedra Pickler notes that some of them aren't happy that Bill Richardson didn't get picked to be Secretary of State, getting the nod to head up the Commerce Department instead: Wilkes said the Richardson pick gets the Obama team on its way to mollifying some of the concerns raised "and if you trust what the transition team is saying, Latino leaders should be pleased" after all nominations are made. "And we do trust them," Wilkes said. Oh, and it's not just Latinos, either. Other groups paid the piper, and now they feel like they get to pick the tune... While I'm sure all three are more or less able public servants, allow me to ask a (doubtlessly RACIST!!!) question: Isn't that pretty much a blatant call for tokenism? "Not only will we expect it, but we fully believe that it will happen," he added."I definitely don't think we should characterize it as a consolation prize, but it's not enough," said Brent Wilkes, executive director of League of United Latin American Citizens.
Floyd Mori, chair of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans, said with blacks and Hispanics chosen for the Cabinet, "what is missing now is an Asian-American." He said given Obama's upbringing in Hawaii and his understanding of their community, they are optimistic he will appoint at least one. He suggested Illinois veterans affairs director Tammy Duckworth, former Washington Gov. Gary Locke or Rep. Mike Honda, D-Calif.
Joe Solmonese, president of the gay rights group Human Rights Campaign, sent a letter to Obama this week asking him to name labor leader Mary Beth Maxwell, a lesbian, as labor secretary. Solmonese said that he did not believe there had been an openly gay Cabinet member before, but he's confident that will change with Obama.
Which begs the (doubtlessly HOMOPHOBIC!!!) question: Or else, what, exactly?
It sounds like our post-racial, post-partisan, post-everything, really, president-elect has promises to keep and miles to go before he can mollify every bloc of voters expecting a favor or two.*
*What, you thought I was going to follow all the way through with the Robert Frost line?

Researchers have found that chemical signals emitted by the body in sweat when scared really can be picked up by others and can trigger fear in their brains. The discovery may help to explain why individuals with phobias such as a fear of flying can infect others who normally exhibit no such worries.
The study by Stony Brook University in New York found people who are scared give off "pheromones" - hormones - that subconsciously trigger parts of the brain associated with fear.
They concluded that fear could be "contagious", but said it was too early to say whether the brain triggers actually resulted in people being scared.
I'll let you go to the link to find out about the research methodology, which sounds interesting, if not exactly pleasant.

Officials said drug paraphernalia, including syringes, was recovered from the scene of the attacks, which killed almost 200 people.I'm sure no one here has ever done any of those drugs, and so cannot imagine how incredibly out of their skulls bugfuck crazy they must have been. It does seem to explain how they managed to go on for so long without sleep, though.
The heavily built men, who had undergone training at a special marine camp established by the Lashkar-e-Taibat (LeT) terrorist group in Pakistan, had also used steroids to build a tougher physique."
We found injections containing traces of cocaine and LSD left behind by the terrorists and later found drugs in their blood," said one official.

Alright Morons, we've got to start proving how stupid, dull and inarticulate (inartful?) our new CinC is so I want to start rating his soundbites based on the number of "uh's" per minute. We can track various soundbites and generate a list of his best. I bet the number will be pretty impressive.
Why, just today Obama answered a Fox News question at an astounding 15 Uhs/Minute.
Go ahead and calculate the rate for any soundbite you might have and let's see how high his stupidity goes.
Oh, and I've never seen a human being that is as dull, self-interested and humorless as this bastard. In that regard, it will be a long 4/8 years.

I'll note that the only person she's following is a Dem who hates Gov. Palin as much as she does.

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won't offend them with their B.O. anymore.
"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

Beaumont's attorney claimed that Beaumont had taken some speed prior to the killing, but says that he doesn't quite remember the stabbing-him-in-the-anus portion of the event.Well, I guess if there were any single portion of an event that you'd prefer to forget (or at least not "quite remember," anyway), that would probably be it.

The Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Marco Rubio, seems to be just as conservative (if not more so) than Jeb Bush without the toxic surname.

"Baruppapumpum" is not a word in English OR in Aramaic, though it does sound a bit like the sound a glock makes when firing a burst over the heads of unruly Palestinians at a West Bank checkpoint.More in the same vein here.
