Also, for being in the midst of the Great Depression, Wegman's sure as hell was packed to the brim when I went grocery shopping this morning. For those of you not familiar with Wegman's, it's a bit more upscale store. And it was completely packed. What's that mean? Nothing. But, hey, if bad news can be drawn from one anecdote, I reserve the right to draw the opposite conclusion from my trying to run down screaming children with my grocery cart.

Only drawback? No Richard Pryor shirt.

It’s hard to think of many issues that could possibly be more important than who is protected in law and who isn’t – who is granted life and who is denied it. So when our opponent, Senator Obama, speaks about questions of life, I listen very carefully. As always, go read the whole thing.
I listened when he defended his unconditional support for unlimited abortions. He said that a woman shouldn’t have to be – quote – “punished with a baby.†He said that right here in Johnstown –“punished with a baby†– and it’s about time we called him on it. The more I hear from Senator Obama, the more I understand why he is so vague and evasive on the subject. Americans need to see his record for what it is. It’s not negative or mean-spirited to talk to about his record. Whatever party you belong to, there are facts you need to know.

The Spanish players will each receive their weight in beer from sponsor Cruzcampo after winning Euro 2008 at Austria and Switzerland in June. Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina will be the happiest after tipping the scales at 95.6 kilograms (211 pounds). Villarreal winger Santi Cazorla is the lightest player on the squad at 70.4 kilograms (155 pounds). The grand total? 1,742 liters for the 23 players on the roster - the equivalent of 5,200 bottles.
And I am happy when I can steal a can of Bud Select from my dad's fridge.

An Obama victory won't spell the end of the culture war, but perhaps it may spell the beginning of the end. And let's be clear: This war will not finish with a victory of blue over red, or vice versa. It will finish with the accepted, peaceful coexistence in one society of different faiths, value systems and lifestyles -- along the lines laid down centuries ago by the classical liberalism of John Locke and others, which so much influenced the founding fathers. It won't be "liberals" (in the perverted sense in which that word is now used) trouncing conservatives, but classical liberalism remade for the 21st century. It won't be blue obliterating red, but red, white and blue.Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Because nothing says "peaceful coexistence" and "classical liberalism" like law enforcement truth squads. Or legions of goons ready to shout down criticism of The One at the drop of a hat. Or an activist media that's deliberately misleading readers in service of their chosen candidate. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the kind of stuff that John Locke had in mind. If you believe that, I'd like to talk to you about some very attractive financing rates available on a bridge in Brooklyn.

Quote: "Sarah Palin is an embarrassment, and a dangerous one at that..."Excuse me while I head over to The Corner to see how they try to defend Christopher Buckley.
No matter which way this election goes, there's going to be bad blood between the conservative base and conservative commentators for some time.

Today I use the term Moron not as a pejorative, but as a badge of honor. The recipient, well, read this:
"I turned [when] I heard a grunt. All I saw was eyes full of hatred … I had no option … So I stuck my foot up and tried to kick her in the face," he said.
The bear then attacked him, knocking him to the ground, and West soon found himself on the losing side of an ill-matched fight.
"I rolled onto my stomach and clasped my hands at the back of my neck. She tore into my skull at the back of my head, moved over and bit me on the left side of my body, on my ribs and left arm," said West.
Knowing he would likely soon be dead unless he fought back, the injured West managed to get to his feet and picked up a stick about as thick as his arm.
"I said, in effect, bring it on sweetie. I took one step forward — smash!" said West.
"I swung the stick and broke it over her head. She kind of stood there and shook it off, like she was stunned," he said.
"I realized if I didn't continue the attack she would knock me to the ground again and I would not get up.
"I swung my piece of wood like a sledgehammer driving spikes and I kept swinging till she was lying flat on the ground and there was blood coming out of her nose," said West.
That's right, morons. This guy beat a fucking bear to death with a fucking stick. After it had thrown him to the ground and mauled him.
Badass.

This time, it's in Nevada, with some suspicious voter registration.
"Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won't be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4," said Secretary of State Ross Miller, referring to star players on the pro football team.
State authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a group that works to register low-income people.
Miller said the raid was part of a monthslong investigation, and he contended the group had submitted registration forms that used false information or duplicated information on multiple forms. He did not estimate how many.
Bertha Lewis, interim chief organizer for ACORN, said the group has been working with election officials to weed out fraudulent forms from those submitted by the canvassers it hires.
"Today's raid by the secretary of state's office is a stunt that serves no useful purpose other than to discredit our work registering Nevadans," Lewis said.
She said ACORN had turned in 46 problem applications submitted by 33 former employees to election officials in the Las Vegas area, where it has registered 80,000 people.
