PC Liberals in Europe Cry Racism Over Classic Book "Tintin in the Congo," Sales Skyrocket 3800 Percent

Pwn3d!

A liberal douchebag "human rights" lawyer decided the book, made in the 30's, was offensive and racist, and wanted it removed, along with a group called the Commission for Racial Equality.  Borders stores promptly grabbed their collective ankles, and didn't bother with lube.

Tintin was a big deal in Europe and is a classic series of stories and serial comic strips, I never really got to see much of Tintin (being American), but what I've seen of it I liked, and I'd like to see what I can pick up of it someday.

So is it racist?  Yeah, probably, it reflected the era it was written in, but so what?  Its a part of history, and representative of views and attitudes of the time.  If nothing else, it can be used as a history lesson in that regard, parents know enough to teach their kids that people viewed different races in a negative way, and still have it be a good story.

Give kids and parents more credit than people like the crying assclown lawyer do.  The kids can seperate the negative from the good and leave the good intact, but as is typical of the Left, they think parents are too goddamn stupid to teach their kids and their kids are too goddamn stupid to grasp it.

From what little exposure to Tintin I've had, the storytelling was always decent, and if there is something lacking from children's literature, its good storytelling.

Anyway, sales of the book shot up 3,800 percent!  Take that, PC doucherockets! I hope that the publishers can't keep up with demand!

This is the second story of the week in which Europeans have reacted badly to squishy PC bullshit.  Maybe there is a glimmer of hope that the Europeans can get their collective shit together and save themselves from mindless leftism and jihadism.

Classics are classics, and should be accessible, even with the racist element, there is solid storytelling and can be a glimpse into history, development of culture and the culture and time represented in the comic strip.

In that same spirit, I've always hated that WB has kept several of the old WWII cartoons under lock and key because of racist stereotypes of the Japanese. They have released some of the cartoons for public purchase, but I say they all should be released, if for no other reason than giving people easy access to history.  I think you can find a good number of the cartoons on youtube(though not the taboo ones as far as I know), but it would be nice to be able to own copies, it is fascinating to see.  Yes I have a history degree and I get all dorky over old stuff like this, eat me.

Even if they ran disclaimers or commentary, they should do it, totally unedited and unaltered, it offers a unique look at the propaganda(and I use that word as a descriptor, not as a condemnation), at the totality of the war in the WWII era, everyone sacrificed, and everyone was taught to mock and despise the enemy, even little kids.

Its a big difference from today, while we still mock the enemy we don't use the crude racial stereotyping of old as much. Many people actually have moved in the other direction, they sympathize, underemphasize their evil acts(particularly treatment of women the muslim world, which just fucking infuriates me, both the fact it happens and the left's refusal to address it), or even cheer for the Jihadists.

Its an interesting thing to compare the WWII era with our own and see how much has changed.
