Megachurch Buys Minister New Rolls-Royce
Praise the Lord and pass the plate! I've never liked the megachurch idea, too centralized around a singular congregation, too powerful, too easy to corrupt. Not that I'm all that religious. This story focuses on the Rev. Creflo Dollar...fitting name. His Atlanta-based church pulls in $69 million a year! He swears his lavish lifestyle is payed for by him, and his own investments...except the Rolls-Royce, which was a gift from the church.
This all stems from a Senate investigation into megachurches. No, I don't know why they're wasting their time with this instead of trying to find a solution to the major problems we face.
Dollar is a guy who preaches the "prosperity gospel," where if you follow the church's teachings, you'll be rewarded with material wealth. While I appreciate that they're trying to make the free market a virtue, it seems to lack modesty somehow.
