Connecticut Teacher Busted for Selling Cocaine Can Teach Again

Want a reminder of one of the many reasons why I chose not to make my career in education?  Here you go.

He was facing a rough patch in his life, his son had died and his wife left, and he was clean up until then, but that can't be an excuse.  If he was dealing drugs, there is a decent chance he's at least vaguely connected to shady and dangerous characters, possibly gang affiliates, that pose a risk to him and his students.

He could also fall off the wagon, they say that he'll be scrutinized, but we all know what "scrutiny" on government employees is, or will become as public pressure subsides, plus the effect of general bureaucratic laziness and maybe even union influence.

Look, its not that I'm not sympathetic to the guy, I am, a series of true tragedies hit him all at once, and he cracked (as a lot of people would), but there has to be standards of conduct, and heavy drug involvement is or has to be a dealbreaker.
