1 Don't count your chickens before they hatch.  Let's wait and see regarding upcoming decisions, especially in the Heller II case where the DC council has re-established a defacto gun ban where it costs hundreds of dollars to register a pistol and semi-automatic rifles are still banned.  Chicago says they will do the same thing, legalize guns but just make it too complicated and expensive to get one legally.

They are also toying with the idea of limiting the number of handguns per home to a single one and banning gun dealers.   

3 I'm not saying enclaves of complete gun asshattery will become free zones or anything.  I'm just saying that the possibility of some de facto nationwide ban on guns is about zero.  They'll probably manage to keep their gun-free zones filled with corpses using technicalities but they'll have a hard time expanding them.

Think that you're an optimist.  A 5 to 4 decision means that they will try again.  Not today, but almost certainly within my lifetime.

The real story for the week on the Court was in the dissent of the other decision handed down that day.  I read all 90 or so pages last night, and if what Sam alleges is true, then it just became that much more difficult for me to look clients in the eye and tell than that litigation is better than the alternative.

7 I've never been a gun owner, but if they pass concealed-carry in some form, though surely expensive and with tons of hoops to jump through, I will gladly go through the thousands of steps to gain that liscense/permit.
