****** ITS PALIN******

CONFIRMED!

SEXY LIBRARIAN GLASSES ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL!

Photobucket\

I think I speak for everyone when I say, "Yowza!*"

Update: This is simply the most exciting political news I've had in my lifetime!  She's PERFECT.  Her inexperience is something to be noted but it is countered by the fact that she is the only person with ANY EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE RUNNING!

She gives me a tingle up my leg.

* - For a politician and a mother of five, she's smokin' and you know it.

2

Fuck yea, Brad!

3 Wow, Maverick actually did something I really like.  Gotta go outside now and make sure the sun is still rising in the east.

5 McVain is racking up a score now doing one thing right...What excitement!

6 Perfect perfect perfect. I'm now officially enthusiastic about voting McCain.

Posted by: Daniel Ruwe at August 29, 2008 10:23 AM (5cc/e)

7 Up my "leg".  Yeah, that's the ticket.

Posted by: Sockless Joe at August 29, 2008 10:23 AM (jZthg)

8 J David, I'm not at all blind to McCain's many faults, but can't you just let me have one good cumshot before raining on our parade?

Posted by: XBradTC at August 29, 2008 10:23 AM (pSXbN)

9 I felt a great disturbance in the Force. As if a million Obamamaniacs cried out in torment and were silenced at once.

Posted by: ECM at August 29, 2008 10:29 AM (q3V+C)

10 She's gonna look great next to ol' Hair Plugs in the debates.  She'll almost certainly crush him on issues too, and get him to say some really stupid shit.

Posted by: Hermit Dave at August 29, 2008 10:35 AM (WhFvm)

11 Number of ejaculations = infinity!

Posted by: Sean M. at August 29, 2008 10:36 AM (e6v7s)

12 I'll be curious to see the VP debate.  Will Senator Smarm be able to resist putting his foot in his mouth?

Posted by: doubleplusundead at August 29, 2008 10:37 AM (XWeKU)

13 Smarm doesn't need a debate to put his foot in his mouth. Just a microphone.

Posted by: XBradTC at August 29, 2008 10:41 AM (pSXbN)

14 Drudge is down.... I don't ever remember a story big enough to crash the Drudge Report.

Posted by: A. Weasel at August 29, 2008 10:43 AM (bqcfE)

15 Got into drudge no problem. But notice she's wearing a "Blue Star Mom" pin. Just pray she never becomes a Gold Star Mom.

Posted by: XBradTC at August 29, 2008 10:46 AM (pSXbN)

16 Maybe it was just my connection, I couldn't get there for about 10 min.

Just pray she never becomes a Gold Star Mom.

I'll second that.

Posted by: A. Weasel at August 29, 2008 10:53 AM (bqcfE)

17

She's an AWESOME pick. I've been Googling her all morning (that really doesn't sound good, does it?). The only bad thing I've found is an apparent belief in global warming.

The rest is an awesome sammich with awesome sauce and a side helping of teh awesome.

Posted by: S. Weasel at August 29, 2008 11:06 AM (rasT+)

18 Also, that's how you roll out a vice presidential nominee, Barack Obama.

Posted by: It's Vintage, Duh at August 29, 2008 11:11 AM (aCS6Q)

19 Totally.

Posted by: doubleplusundead at August 29, 2008 11:12 AM (XWeKU)

20 Yeah, I have to say, the McCain campaign really did well PR-wise, they completely derailed Obama's press coverage.

Posted by: doubleplusundead at August 29, 2008 11:13 AM (XWeKU)

Posted by: Jones at August 29, 2008 11:14 AM (VkNlv)

22 I'm no McCain fan to say the least, but huge kudos to his strategy and advertising teams.  They've been reaming Obama day in and day out, and I agree that this VP announcement was really well done.

Posted by: Hermit Dave at August 29, 2008 11:14 AM (WhFvm)

23 As the guys over at ExUrban League have long noted, McCain is well inside Obama's OODA loop.

Posted by: XBradTC at August 29, 2008 11:17 AM (pSXbN)

24 I've done all the Google Image Search work for you morons!

I'm shocked you'd do that, Barry.  Heh.

Posted by: doubleplusundead at August 29, 2008 11:18 AM (XWeKU)

25 I'm almost in tears over this.  How awful is it that I've been so disappointed in the GOP and McCain that I'm crying tears of relief that *finally* something sensible was done?

Posted by: Alice H at August 29, 2008 11:23 AM (jRtPb)

26 If you can get Geraldine Ferraro to write something like this, you've done a hell of a job.  At the least the PUMAs are going to take a very careful look at Palin.  The hard-core left feminists are obviously not going to go for her, but they wouldn't go for anyone McCain would nominate anyway.

Posted by: Hermit Dave at August 29, 2008 11:24 AM (WhFvm)

27 When I heard the news this morning I figured there'd be full body orgasms going on at this site.

Posted by: TheUnrepentantGeek at August 29, 2008 11:31 AM (g1cNf)

28 Let's see, I twitted about the female smears coming from the left this morning and it happened within half an hour.  let's see what else I can predict?

1. How long will it be before someone accuses McCain of nailing Palin, a la Bush and Condi?
2. How long will it be before someone says what a horrible person she is for forcing a child with Downs Syndrome to live?
3. How long will it be before she's referred to as 'the affirmative action pick'?

Anyone else care to chime in?

I admit, I wasn't so hot on Palin as recently as a few weeks ago, but I've grown to like her, and I'm glad she was chosen.

Wow, McCain placating his base, will wonders never cease?

I haven't seen the righty blogs this excited since sometime in 2003 and I have never seen anybody not named Captain Ed excited about anything McCain has done (at least, not excited in a good way, McCain/Feingold and other stuff surely got me all worked up).

This drowns out all the paeans to Obama!'s Sermon on the Mound last night too.

And imagine how angry Hillary is now? She won't be the First Womyn-American... anything now. And isn't that what life is really all about? Making Clintons cry.

Mmmmm, that's good squishy.

AliceH, I'm wondering if they're going to go to their standard, GOP playbook and make her either stupid or evil.

If they go to their standard "Victim-Group off the plantation" playbook, they might alienate already alienated Hillary supporters with too much misogyny and/or "poor widdle woman, in over her head" retoric. So far it's been just "inexperience", which is pretty darn funny.

Either way, it's gonna be funny.

30 1. How long will it be before someone accuses McCain of nailing Palin, a la Bush and Condi?

Done.

2. How long will it be before someone says what a horrible person she is for forcing a child with Downs Syndrome to live?

Haven't seen it yet, but it shouldn't be long...

3. How long will it be before she's referred to as 'the affirmative action pick'?

I've seen RINOs say it before she was even picked, I think it's safe to assume it's been done somewhere.

Posted by: doubleplusundead at August 29, 2008 11:56 AM (XWeKU)

31 oops, looks like I was a little slow on the draw here.  It's already happening.

Posted by: Alice H at August 29, 2008 12:00 PM (jRtPb)

32 XBradTC, I am now mildly interested in at least the young half of the RINO ticket, and could get behind a two term Palin presidency that could result from this election. You may proceed with the one-handed keyboarding, XBradTC...

Posted by: J David at August 29, 2008 12:19 PM (RRPCn)

33 I think I found this link over in the comments at Ace's.

We absolutely have to make sure Palin doesn't end up getting run over by the good old boy network.  She's overcome a lot in Alaska with the corruption, and I would LOVE to see it taken to a national level.  We're going to have to have a grassroots mobilization if there's even a whiff of the good old boy network going after her.  The one thing I'm certain of is that she can handle it, but there's no reason she should have to handle it without our support.

I hate to say it, since I pretty much hate to say anything positive about McCain, but he may have just saved the Republican party.  Eight years of her cleaning house at the VP level, followed by eight years of her cleaning house as president, would do fantastic things.

I don't think I was even this passionate about teh Fred.

Posted by: Alice H at August 29, 2008 12:52 PM (jRtPb)

34 As a serious Juan-loather I had no intention of voting for a slower version of socialism by the RINOs, but Palin could whoop some serious Hilary fanny in 2012, and lends a certain credibility to a renegade "Maverick" he didn't have when I woke up this morning.

Posted by: J David at August 29, 2008 01:26 PM (RRPCn)

35 Blank slate?  BLANK SLATE?!??!!?

F&^% you, CNN.

I'm gonna have to buy a cheaper TV, cause I'm going to end up throwing something at it this election cycle.

Posted by: Alice H at August 29, 2008 02:21 PM (jRtPb)

36 Alice H, this is a very good day to surf the blogging Right wing, there is a new sense of direction and enthusiasm;  more than I have seen in the entire rest of this election cycle.  The idiot box, with the exception of FOX, is going to be dissing Sarah from now until Nov of 2016, when she is running for her second term as President.

Posted by: J David at August 29, 2008 02:29 PM (RRPCn)

37 Strategically, it's a good pick, but don't delude yourselves into thinking that McCain showed any competence or anything else good.  He beat Obama in drama of announcement, but how the process of picking the VP pick played out shows him to be much weaker.
Remember all the phonecalling his campaign did last week trying to get people to say they would accept a pro-choice pick? Remember the mutters of revolt that mentions of Lieberman et al.  brought forth?  All that makes it look like McCain was forced to pick a pro-life VP against his own wishes by the conservative base--that he was made not to be a maverick.  So it makes him look weak and somewhat wishy washy. And it further establishes the perception that the GOP is bound hand and foot to the religious right.
Plus in this year of Hillary Agonistes, it's bound to seem an affirmative action pick, a pander to the PUMAs.
And don't fool yourselves.  When a 72 year old man picks someone with essentially no foreign policy experience to be his VP, it throws all the inexperience argument he might have used against Obama out the window.  He can still attack Obama's judgment, but he can't attack his inexperience without allowing the riposte of "then why did you pick Palin?"

Posted by: kishnevi at August 29, 2008 03:16 PM (N7QC9)

38 The ONLY thing Juan has been running on until now is Foreign policy/national security creds...He DID NOT NEED another of those on the ticket. What he got on the ticket was "executive experience" which NO ONE ELSE in either party can claim. He covered all of the demographics in which he was weak, including some that no one ever even thinks of:
Palin is a "baraccuda" on gov't waste, and corruption
She beat an incumbent to get her seat
She is an athlete, and a "hockey mom" with five kids, one of which is in the military
She is seriously pro-life, and a mother of a "special needs" kid
Sarah is a lifetime member of the NRA who hunts and fishes, and has a "he-man" husband
She was a sports caster and actually can form sentences without stuttering
She gets bitter women Hilary voters
She is from a border state with two other nations
She is pro-oil, pro-drilling, and is suing the US gov't for listing polar bears as "endangered"

39 2. How long will it be before someone says what a horrible person she is for forcing a child with Downs Syndrome to live?

Hey Alice, your second question? This close enough?

40 You're trying to give me an aneurysm again, aren't you, dpud?

42 I'm very very excited about this and the more loathsome the things that are said about her, the more likely I am to vote for Palin simply to piss people off.

This also means there's a chance at Palin/Jindal '12 which is making me do the hands just thinking about it.
