71% Of The Country Wants Big Brother Security Systems
Not good.
I'm sorry, I know some people think having these close circuit cameras all over is a good. It might be advantageous in some instances, but the long term risk for potential government abuse is too much, and I can't support these things.

If this isn't just wishful thinking from the socialist fuckwits at ABC Nooz, then I'm still going to call BS. For 210 million US citizens to choose 24/7 monitoring is unthinkable. Ponder traffic cameras used to nab speeders...have you *ever* known a single person who thought those cameras were a great idea? Me neither. The surveillance CC cameras are just an extension of that concept, and I can't fathom how more than 10% or so of the public would want a UK-style Big Brother following their every move.

I've written several times on the evils of the UK surveillance system (now centralized with real-time access by police!), but most people have the "if you're not doing anything wrong, what's the problem" sort of attitude. Now, as we similar systems entering several US cities, I don't expect much resistance on the part of the populace.

Wake me when they can laser site a breath alcohol reading. Then I will think about driving after dark on weekends in LA.
