Well, I guess I was mistaken. I guess this is how the left wants to play. In that vein, please allow me to offer my opinion on the matter:

Case in point, Purple Avenger notices something, Obama's GDP and other economic numbers keep being revised downward, usually to little fanfare.
So I thought, gee, it seems to me that Bush' numbers were always revised too, but upward. So I did a search at using Ace's URL, lo and behold, I remembered correctly. story after story of numbers revised upward, 8 years worth.
So not only were many people in the CIA, State Dept nd of course, those in the Dept of whoever is in charge of federal parks and land management fighting a war against Bush, there appear to be a bunch of people in the Dept of Commerce too.
No matter who's elected, lefties are very powerful in our gov't and do all they can, even to the perversion of their duties, to get leftists elected.
That pisses me off.

He talks about how the guy claimed he reached down to try to pull up the pedal but was afraid to take his hands off the wheel to shift into neutral.... errr... was afraid the car would flip if he shifted into neutral.
He also mentions another setting on the Pious, you can shift into "B" and it slows the car down to help your brakes, it's for going downhills.
He links to a Car and Driver article on how to stop your car when the accelerator sticks.
Funnily enough you apply the brakes and your car stops. I know, counter-intuitive.
They did it with a Pious and it stopped fairly quickly. They even tried a supercharged Mustang and it still stopped with the gas all the way down.
It took a long time (903 feet), but it stopped.
Now I was skeptical from the start, the story was a little much, the details looked stupid so it looked to me like scam or his attempt at his 15-minutes.
The Forbes guy finds another data point
Blockquote
Sikes and his wife Patty in 2008 filed for bankruptcy and are over $700,000 in debt. Among their creditors is Toyota Financial Services for a lease on a 2008 Toyota Prius, with value at time of bankruptcy of $20,494....he denied being behind on his Prius payments.
Sikes also has a history of filing insurance claims for allegedly stolen items that are slowly coming to light. In 2001 he filed a police report with the Merced County Sheriff's Department for $58,000 in stolen property, including jewelry, a prosumer mini-DV camera and gear, and $24,000 in cash, ...His bankruptcy documents show a 2008 payment of $7,400 for an allegedly stolen saxophone and clothes.
End Blockquote
Remember, never impute to stupidity alone what can be explained by stupidity and malice.
The ending is what makes it for me,
Blockquote
They have been as determined to not investigate Sikes' claims as Sikes was to not stop his car. It's a Toyota media feeding frenzy and the media aren't about to let little things like incredible stories and readily-refutable claims get in the way.
End Blockquote
Minitru going after Government Motors' competitors. Who's next? I figure Honda. If you can't make yourself better, make everyone else worse. It's the leftish way.
There, I used blockquotes, now leave me alone.

Pelosi:
So, you can‘t—everybody has so much to gain from this, small businesses, as I said, seniors, young people, women, our economy. Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance or that people could start a business and be entrepreneurial and take risk, but not job loss because of a child with asthma or someone in the family is bipolar—you name it, any condition—is job locking.
Marx: The German Ideology:
For as soon as the distribution of labour comes into being, each man has a particular, exclusive sphere of activity, which is forced upon him and from which he cannot escape. He is a hunter, a fisherman, a herdsman, or a critical critic, and must remain so if he does not want to lose his means of livelihood; while in communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic. This fixation of social activity, this consolidation of what we ourselves produce into an objective power above us, growing out of our control, thwarting our expectations, bringing to naught our calculations, is one of the chief factors in historical development up till now.

Brooks' main thrust is that Obama isn't the pinko that the righties think he is, nor is he the sell-out that the hard Left thinks he is. The Gospel according to David says that Obama's a left-center President. Of course, Brooks is wrong. Obama has always been a Leftist. He grew up a Leftist, he campaigned mostly as a Leftist, and he's doing his damnedest to govern as Left as he possibly can.
Before the election, I argued that Obama was a neo-Fabian socialist. Fabian socialism is defined at least in part by its tactics of incrementalism, attrition, and misdirection. Using the working thesis that Obama is an incrementalist (a "progressive" even), the lack of complete sovietization of our economy shouldn't count against me. Nothing that has occurred during Obama's time in office has dissuaded me from this assessment.

For the want of a better two-second picture of a tachometer, ABC News has called into question its reporting on acceleration problems with Toyota vehicles.
I'm going a totally different direction from where I've seen others go and I'm kind of surprised by that.
This story shows exactly what's most wrong with "journalism" today
.
Notice the above beginning, "For the want of...", no, for using a fraudulent clip their 'reportage'/crap hit piece is in question.
The article is full of ABC saying, 'Sure it wasn't the right clip, here's some bullshit reason we're claiming is why we couldn't use the real clip, so it's all okay.'
None of the "journalists" involved in this story even see the fundamental problem.
Fake But Fucking Accurate is not journalism you dumb fucks.
How hard is that concept to understand? Seriously.
All you had to do was put in "dramatization" or some note about why you used that shot and problem solved.
Not a one of the idiot, "journalists" involved in this story, including the many layers of idiotor... err... editors probably even thought about it and if any of them happen to get lost and end up here instead of Kos and read this they will have no idea why this is a problem and they'll think I'm the idiot.
That's how journalism works these days, they'll think.
It's absolutely funny that as reporters started coming out of J-schools instead of just getting a degree and going into journalism their reporting ethics, abilities and diligence have gone right down the tubes.
We now have "fake but accurate", "too good to check" and "feels right" for journalistic standards.
Why, it's almost as if J-schools are teaching advocacy journalism instead of "just the fax ma'am".
H/T, I don't know, I've seen it all over.
Let's say....... Lemur King, I missed giving him one once.

This comment from McGoo over at Soylent Green ultimately led me to this priceless quote from one of the big AGW enablers. as fewer and fewer people buy into their bullshit.
Ecologist Paul Ehrlich at Stanford University in California says that his climate colleagues are at a loss about how to counter the attacks. “Everyone is scared shitless, but they don't know what to do,†he says.
Yeah, well, guess what (UPDATE INCLUDED BELOW)?

You quoted (your way of agreeing, generally) , March 8th, 2010:
In the wake of last week's shooting, James Joyner begs:
"Can we please stop with the political name-calling whenever one of these nuts goes off?
Look, we’re a big country. There are over 300 million of us. Almost everyone holds a position or two that’s way off the charts and a whole lot of people believe in 9/11 Trutherism, black helicopters, and all the rest. Less than a handful of those people are out trying to kill people. However stupid or loathesome a political view may be, the fact that some nut also holds it adds nothing to the counter-argument.
Ohhhhhhhh fuuuuuuuuuuuck you, you hypocritical son of a bitch.
September 24th, 2009 in regards to the "Fed" hanging:
From this profile of the cancer survivor and volunteer, it appears suicide is unlikely. We'll find out. But at some point, unhinged hostility to the federal government, whipped up by the Becks, can become violence.
Yeah, you said that you motherfucker.
In fact, you were frothing at the mouth about Teabaggers and murder for quite some time, as I recall. Now that the last few murderers are avowed communist cocksuckers, you're all "let's not rush to group nutcases in with others who share their beliefs.'
Ergo hoc ipse delenda hoc, you're a fucking douchebag.
That or you just like to quote sentences containing the words, "hold some nut."

Police believe [the three year old girl] mixed up the semi-automatic with a gun controller for the Nintendo Wii, which looks similar and which she had learned how to use from playing on the games system.I'm having a hard time believing this was an accident - teach your toddler that a plastic-but-somewhat-realistic-looking weapon is harmless, teach your kid that it's OK to point it at her own chest and fire, then leave out a real, loaded weapon. I'd joke that it's weapons-grade stupid, but that'd be beyond poor taste.Douglas Cronberger, 32, the gun's owner, said he had forgotten he had left the gun out after he took it from its cabinet when he went to investigate a suspected prowler on Sunday evening.
