One a day plus Irony

Awww, poor global warmmonger.
So one of the tools from the email scam is whining about how he was thinking about killing himself because of the pitchforked crowds.
Eh, just so-so funny.
But then he gets over the top funny.
“I am just a scientist. I have no training in PR or dealing with crises.”

Hahahaha... oh wait, he's serious.
Tool.
The whole point of that deal is that he was acting as a PR agent instead of as a scientist, he had to hide the truth because recent data would just confuse idiots who think the temperature of the Earth has something to do with the Sun.
And all of a sudden he can't deal with a crisis? After years of bleating about the crisis and then demanding $billions to fix it?
Tool.

This looks like a job for.... Gorequemada!

The IOC just needs to think outside the box.
It's been above freezing in the mountains where they're having the Winter Olympics  so they're busing and flying in snow.

Why not convince Al Gore to stage a global worming protest? Maybe have a "Reopening" of An Inconvenient Truth at all area theaters at the same time.

If that doesn't scare up a blizzard I don't know what will.

Hey hey hey hey

It's rerun time for the NY Times!(safe Althouse link)
Althouse talks about how the NY Times writes about how smart Palin is in her post-governor endeavors.
Of course, they don't mention how they called her an idiot and a runner-awayer when she resigned.

It looks as if they're going to reuse their Bush template on Sarah Palin, she's becoming a Machiavellian Idiot.
That one always made me laugh.

DPUD Book Club?

Not really but I just saw this book (The Road From Ruin) mentioned over at Instapundit and it looks like it might be interesting.  Anyone else planning on reading it?

Frank Sinatra is still killing 'em in the Philippines

Apparently singing "My Way" in a karaoke bar is an invitation to having your heart cut out.

But Gregorio, 63, a witness to countless fistfights and occasional stabbings erupting from disputes over karaoke singing, did not dare choose one beloved classic: Frank Sinatra's version of "My Way."

"I used to like 'My Way,' but after all the trouble, I stopped singing it," he said. "You can get killed."

The authorities do not know exactly how many people have been killed warbling "My Way" in karaoke bars over the years in the Philippines, or how many fatal fights it has fueled. But the news media has recorded at least six victims in the past decade and includes them in a subcategory of crime dubbed the "My Way Killings."

...

In Manila, Alisa Gabby, 33, and her relatives invariably gather before a karaoke machine, but they banned "My Way" after an uncle, listening to a friend sing the song at a bar, became enraged at the laughter coming from the next table.

The uncle, a police officer, pulled out his revolver, after which the customers at the next table quietly paid their bill and left.

Personally I think "My Way" sucks but I do like a few Sinatra songs like "This Town" and since I am writing the post it gets top billing. more...

Amnesty International Working With The Taliban?

What a non surprise.

Gita Sahgal, head of the gender unit at Amnesty’s international secretariat, believes that collaborating with Moazzam Begg, a former British inmate at Guantanamo Bay, “fundamentally damages” the organisation’s reputation.

In an email sent to Amnesty’s top bosses, she suggests the charity has mistakenly allied itself with Begg and his “jihadi” group, Cageprisoners, out of fear of being branded racist and Islamophobic.

Sahgal describes Begg as “Britain’s most famous supporter of the Taliban”. He has championed the rights of jailed Al-Qaeda members and hate preachers, including Anwar al-Awlaki, the alleged spiritual mentor of the Christmas Day Detroit plane bomber.

Amnesty’s work with Cageprisoners took it to Downing Street last month to demand the closure of Guantanamo Bay. Begg has also embarked on a European tour, hosted by Amnesty, urging countries to offer safe haven to Guantanamo detainees. This is despite concerns about former inmates returning to terrorism.

Sahgal, who has researched religious fundamentalism for 20 years, has decided to go public because she feels Amnesty has ignored her warnings for the past two years about the involvement of Begg in the charity’s Counter Terror With Justice campaign.

“I believe the campaign fundamentally damages Amnesty International’s integrity and, more importantly, constitutes a threat to human rights,” Sahgal wrote in an email to the organisation’s leaders on January 30. “To be appearing on platforms with Britain’s most famous supporter of the Taliban, whom we treat as a human rights defender, is a gross error of judgment.”

I mean, seriously. Is it any shock anymore that a leftitst peacenik group would be more willing to aid terrorists than care for the women, gays, and other folks who suffer under the thumb of such goatfuckers? These people are not just some easily duped, naive (hello, Jacob Weisberg!) dreamers. They are fucking aiding and abetting terrorism. They are aiding the imprisonment and torture of minorities and less powerful. And they are fucking scum who need to be marginalized.

Our long national nightmare is over

Tila Tequila Returns to Twitter

The reality TV star left the microblogging site on Monday (01Feb10) after branding it the most "hateful, racist and violent" community online. But Twitter tempted Tequila back to the web on Thursday (04Feb10), when she announced her return by writing to fans, "Dang... I guess I'm back! Twitter was f**king boring without me huh? I would be bored as hell if I were U and I wasn't on Twitter anymore! hahhaha jk (just kidding)."

Remember the episode of South Park where the internet goes down. It's things like this that make we want to beat Kyle senseless for fixing it.

Jacob Wesiberg Handles A Setback Well

Jacob Wesiberg (warning: Slate link) can't handle the fact that the American people are rejecting his Hopey Changey bullshit.

The politicians thriving at the moment are the ones who embody this live-for-the-today mentality, those best able to call for the impossible with a straight face. Take Scott Brown, the newly elected Senator from Massachusetts. Brown wants government to take in less revenue: He has signed a no-new-taxes pledge and called for an across-the-board tax cut on families and businesses. But Brown doesn't want government to spend any less money: He opposes reductions in Medicare payments and all other spending cuts of any significance. He says we can lower deficits above 10 percent of GDP—the largest deficits since World War II, deficits so large that they threaten our future as the world's leading military and economic power—simply by cutting government waste. No sensible person who has spent five minutes looking at the budget thinks that's remotely possible. The charitable interpretation is that Brown embodies naive optimism {as opposed to the "calm and reasoned" approach of the reality based community?-ed} an approach to politics that Ronald Reagan left as one of his more dubious legacies to Republican Party {and it worked pretty well, no?-ed}. A better explanation is that Brown is consciously pandering to the public's ignorance and illusions the same way the rest of his Republican colleagues are.

Sully compares a statement in Palin's Tea Party speech to Dolchstoss

What a fucking cunt...then again, his rhetoric on Israel and Jews has been making Pat Buchanan look like Jackie Mason of late, so if anyone knows what Dolchstoss looks like, it might well be Sully.

Everything is a lie, including the a and the the

Everyone who assumed that Obama's little story about the woman who died from breast cancer without health insurance was full of crap? Yup. Full of crap.

She wasn't without insurance after all.  It appears that she had catastrophic care insurance with a $5,000 deductible.  Oh, she also was a small business owner who apparently decided to use her savings to invest in the business instead of going to the doctor.  Also, note how the story doesn't even begin to acknowledge the inherent contradiction between the whole no insurance meme and discussing how her evil insurance company wouldn't cover a treatment.  Well, now, doesn't that rather concede she had insurance?

Look, I am sorry for her family and friends that she died.  But she chose to turn her illness into a political issue.  Pres. Obama then used her death for political advantage.  It is now fair game to see if the claims being made are true.  Apparently, the story being given is less than accurate.  She did have insurance.  She does not appear to have been impoverished.  It reads to me like she made a very very bad choice to ignore her health and paid a terrible price.  That's awful.  But it's not an indictment of the entire health care industry.  She did not die from lack of insurance/lack of health care.  She died because cancer is an utter bitch and cuts people down with no regard for anything at all.  Life is horrible and unfair.  That doesn't mean that there's some evil Big Insurance Monopoly that is injecting people with cancer while laughing ala Snidley Whiplash.

Not only did Obama turn her death into an ode to himself, the story isn't even accurate.  Of course it's not.  Did anyone think it would be?

I question the validity of the claims about this chart

Somewhere Douchey McDouche Josh Marshall of TPM got hold of a chart showing the accelerating rate of job losses in the last year of the Bush presidency and the slowing rate of job losses in the first year of the Obama presidency.

recoverystats-cropped-proto-custom_8

In his wisdom he has pronounced this as proof that the economy is recovering. I question that assertion. My personal interpretation is that job losses have slowed because employers are having to look harder for someone to fire. But hey maybe that's just me. I think the more important number would be unemployment. Look at the chart - It's a bell shaped distribution so if you had no other context you would assume that we are back where we started in 2008. 5% unemployment. Instead we are twice that with no real signs of that changing soon.

Happy Birthday Ronnie

Happy Birthday Ronnie Raygun.
I'm kind of depressed I never watched his speeches. I've never watched any politician's speeches except for a couple Bush ones, like the one after 9/11 and the next SOTU, but that's about it.
Ronnie made speeches like any other politician, but occasionally he made a great one.

Happy Birthday Mr. President

I do not believe that I am capable of articulating how much I miss Pres. Reagan or how much he means to my life.  I firmly believe that without him and Mrs. Thatcher, there would have been nuclear war and the Soviet Union would never have collapsed in the manner it did.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President.  I know the Moron Horde misses you terribly.

Another one bites the bus

This could get interesting.
Speculation is that Holder's about to go under the bus.
So far nobody's who gone under has really been harmed. Sure they're blamed for something, but it didn't affect their careers too much.

But Holder is big beans. If Obama blames too much on him, his livelihood could be affected.
And I wonder if he engenders the same devotion as the Clintons.
It used to amaze me that people would go to jail for them.
But the Clintons didn't throw everybody under there, they were selective about it.

Holder might just defend himself and then what happens? He could muddy the waters a lot for Obama leading to a cascade effect where Obama has to throw more people under to "fix" things.
Obama has thrown too many people under the bus for me to think the rest will fall on their swords. And if he'll roll Holder, his preacher and his mom under the bus, well, who won't he?

What happens when it's Rahm's turn? Rahm knows where the bodies are buried and he's not so pleasant to his enemies.
I know he was in the Daly machine, but he also worked for Clinton and he really is a son of a bitch.
He could probably bring down any prominent Dem politician he wants.

The next year or so could get interesting. And by "interesting" I mean fucked up. Roll President Biden around in your mind.
His handlers can't keep him off the TV if he's the president. Imagine the first press conference where he opines about how the Shah should tone it down and stop trying to develop nukular weapons.
Or the jokes about Alabama defending them when Russia invades Georgia.
Or...
Hmmm, maybe this belonged in "Funniest End of Civilization Ever"

Yeah I'm bored. What of it?

(Insert your headline here)

Put your own headline up there. Make it funny, I have a reputation to uphold. Something to do with gay, retarded Vikings.

Words fail me on this. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to laugh, side with the school or get OUTRAGED!!!!!!
quote
A male student at Garfield-Palouse High School in Palouse is a cheerleader but he isn't content with doing typical male cheerleader stunts. He wants to do the same dances and kicks and fist pumps as the females, but his mom says school administrators are discriminating against him and preventing him from cheering.

Okay so far, some guy wants to be like the girl cheerleaders instead of the boy cheerleaders. Eh, neither that funny nor that OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!
Here's where the confusion comes in
"I think the combination of a bi-racial, mentally challenged gay male may be too much for them,"

Ummmmm, ya think?
I might be on the school's side on this, depending on how "mentally challenged" he is and how flamingly gay. They interview him, he doesn't look too retarded. They show him in the cheerleader routine just standing there raising his hands with the girls but not dancing around.

With the mentally retarded, there's a fine line between cheering for and laughing at.
Especially in high school.
A flamingly gay, mentally retarded guy prancing around with little girls who weigh half as much as he does might just cross the line.
