Dan Cooper is the president and founder of Cooper Arms, which makes some pricey, high end hunting and target rifles.  The fool decided to come out in support of Obama. 

Question?  Does he not remember the Smith & Wesson boycott?  Does he not remember Zumbo?  In any case, he foolishly came out in support of the most anti-2nd presidential candidate in US history.  24 hours later?  Yeah, the employees and shareholders are asking Cooper to resign. 

See, this is why I admire Second Amendment activists and organizations so much.  They don't compromise, and because of that they get fucking results.

I know Ace left Boston to return to New York, but I didn't realize the hobos in New England felt they could be as brazen as this once the Master Hunter left town.

Stack told police he sleeps in the garage of his home, and that the two men both wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, surprised him in bed where he fell asleep listening to the radio.

According to the police report, Stack told police "a lot of his friends are homeless" and that "all his friends knew that he had a lot of cash on him, due to hearing that the stock market was doing bad and that he should pull his money out of the banks" and that he kept a "cash reserve at home."

Police said a chain on the gate at the end of the driveway of Stack's home had been cut and that there was a large hole in the fence beside the house.

Stack said he gave the men his wallet containing $4,000 in $100 and $50 bills. He said the assailants then tied his wrists and legs together while lying facedown on the bed, and that they punched him and asked for the keys to his 2001 Green Volkswagen Jetta.

Before leaving, they told Stack, 'If you call the police, we'll kill you."

According to police, there were "several coins leading from the lawn into the woods." Stack told police that he also kept a large amount of coins in the house and he believes the robbers took some of them.

After Prescott and Santiago left, Stack used a pair of scissors to free his wrists and called police at 7:22 p.m.

And how did these hobos spend the money? Rent? Food? ACORN/Obama voter registration?

Hell no! They spent it like a true hobo would.

The suspects allegedly abandoned Stack's car in the Mr. Tux parking lot on Merrimack Street in Lawrence and took a taxi to the Hampton Inn Express on Winthrop Avenue in Lawrence. They paid the cab driver $50, spent $60 in alcohol and another $400 in crack cocaine before renting two rooms at the hotel, which they paid for with $100 bills, police said.

Santiago and Prescott, along with another man and woman, also homeless, were celebrating Prescott's 45th birthday Saturday, police said.

Stack told police that he recognized a woman at the hotel party also as being a guest at Bread & Roses, and that he hired her about a month ago to clean his house.

Stack told police that the woman "may have stolen about $3,000 from his wallet on that occasion."

In court yesterday, Prescott and Santiago were represented by defense attorneys Thomas Sheehan and Alicia McNeil.

Judge Kevin Gaffney ordered them held without bail at the Essex House of Correction in Middleton, until the case is continued tomorrow.

Newsweek just asked (PDF) registered Republicans who they would like to run in 2012 if John McCain doesn't win in November.  The results?

Mitt Romney 30%
Mike Huckabee 26%
Sarah Palin 20%

I will just note that there was no similar question for Democrats.  They seem certain their Messiah will win. 

Also, Mitt Romney and the Huckster in the 1 and 2 slots?  Are these people serious?

Police sources are saying she confessed, and will be brought up on charges.  I noted my skepticism yesterday, something just didn't smell right to me.  Admittedly I was running on gut instinct.  That was my initial reaction, but I think the picture sealed it for me. 

The fact that the B wasn't so much carved, as scratched, the fact that she said it was a large knife rang alarms, but something about it felt off.  I think it was the way her eyes and mouth looked.  When you've been beaten up, you have a very sad, sullen look on your face.  I don't see that in the photo.

In any case, this whole incident is unfortunate, lying and fabricating events is a grave injustice to those who are legitimate victims, because it can breed skepticism and more intense scrutiny.  Obviously, this girl is in need of psychiatric attention first and foremost, and after that, if she's fit for trial, to trial she must go.

I'm still trying to calculate a guess as to what the political fallout is going to be, if anything.  The accusations of race-baiting are going to fly, if they haven't started already.

"We didn't know what he was doing, but we knew it's not right to have your pants down in a park," says witness Jeff Niemeier.

On scene, deputies found 55-year old Larry Williamson sitting on a picnic table naked, masturbating, with a metal rod protruding from his penis.

"Fortunately there weren't any kids or families present. He has since told us he'd gone there in the past to gratify himself," Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams says.

"We saw him two or three times this past week," Niemeier says. "Just sitting at picnic tables watching children."

The picnic table where deputies found Williamson naked was only feet away from the playground. Deputies say he's been arrested twice before for public indecency and nudity and he's banned from all city parks.

A search of Williamson's car showed deputies the metal rod was just one of many props he'd taken to the park with him.

"He had a lot of unusual things in his car that we thought were suspicious in nature," Williams says.

Among those: binoculars, sex toys, male enhancement drugs, lotions, a small dog, candy and bags of cotton candy-things often used to lure children.

"We're not saying that's what was going on, but it sure does send up some red flags for us," says Williams

Andrew Sullivan was unavailable for comment.

Peggy Noonan says that Gov. Palin is a failure because 7 weeks in Peggy Noonan (using the guise "we") has no idea what the Governor stands for.

Guess what, Peggy.  I know what she stands for, and so do millions of non-DC, non-NYC Americans of all political stripes.  And we don't even get paid to pay attention.  As someone who longs for a career in DC, it pisses me off that conservatives who are there turn their backs on conservatism when it becomes uncouth. 

You don't matter anymore, Peggy, and I think doing something memorable for the first time in 20 years has clouded your judgment.

Five years ago (shit! has it been that long?) he became a sports legend.

Bartman's infamy has Laurie Holmes wondering what her life might be like if she - and not Bartman - had deflected the ball, which she nearly did.

Holmes, a Chicago attorney, was sitting directly behind Bartman.

When the ball rocketed off Castillo's bat, it looked "like it was going foul behind us, and at the last minute the wind blew it forward," she said.

"Steve Bartman deflected it and it landed at my feet. One of the guys I was with picked up the ball. We're all high-fiving him and congratulating him and then we realized everyone is booing."

Holmes said it didn't take long for Bartman to realize that he was the target of the boos.

"He turned around and said, 'Do you think I did anything wrong?' We said, 'No.' He was just doing what everybody else in that place would have been doing," she said.

Holmes' friend, attorney Jim Staruck, eventually sold the ball to De Porter. Both Holmes and Staruck are glad they weren't the first ones to touch it.

"People ask me, 'Why didn't you stop him?' I say there was just no way to know what was going to happen. We were looking up at the ball," said Holmes, who is visible in photos of the play wearing a white coat and red scarf.

"We are definitely lucky for our sakes that Steve Bartman was in front us. Or I (might) have been the one vilified."

Then, reflecting on the Cubs' latest post-season collapse, Holmes offered perspective on the Bartman blame game.

"This year is proof that the Cubs don't need Steve Bartman to screw everything up."

To piggy back off of DPUD's earlier post about the RNC extending a $5 million lifeline to the Senate candidates, my reply is:
Yes, they are worthless, but (sadly) they may be our only buffer against full bore Obamanomics.

But, in a wave year, as in 1994, 2000 (a mini wave, Senate wise, where massive Dem GOTV and last minute events such as Bush's DUI and the Mel Carnahan death in MO caused many of the Class of 1994 and other GOP stalwarts such as Roth to lose), 2002, 2004 (Senate wise again, where virtually every tight Senate race went for the GOP), and 2006, one factor is the fact previously invincible incumbents fall to virtual nobodys they should trounce in a different year. And, sadly, this is shaping up to be another wave.

The problem, as in 2006, is that so many seats are vulnerable, and so many of our Senators have run incompetent campaigns, are crooks, or are fools. Here are the five seats we might as well abandon, since they really have no shot:
CO, VA, NM, OR (Gordon Smith?), and NH. All of these seats are either vacant due to retirements, or are held by Republicans in blue states (such as NH). That right there makes it 56 D (if you count Joe Lieberman).
The next batch are the improbably tight races,incompetent campaigns, or outright crooks:
MN (even in lefty MN, Al Franken should never be as close as he is, except for the fact this is a good year for the Dems), NC (Dole is the worst campaigner and organizer ever), and AK (ugh! How can we stomach supporting a crook, just because he may keep the Senate filibuster proof?). If all three are losses, that's D59.

Sadly, here is where previously thought untouchables are needlessly facing tight races, for no other reason they are a Republican in a Blue Year:
GA and KY (I know McConnell is a fool, but he shouldn't be in a tight race).
If these both go blue, which a wave might portend, it's D61.

And none of this factors in whichever idiot is running in Maine, who might as well be a Democrat.

I hate sounding like Allahpundit, but how sad is it that we may be pinning our hopes for a filibuster proof majority on Ted Stevens (ugh again!), Liddie Dole, Mitch McConnell, and some dimbulb from Maine?

A league source tells us that the talk among the Browns is that tight end Kellen Winslow landed in the Cleveland Clinic because his balls swelled to the size of grapefruits.

Actually, one explanation for the situation is a condition known as hyrdocele.  And while the condition in itself isn’t serious, it could be a symptom of testicular cancer.

It is drug commonly used during and after steroid cycles to maintain and restore testicular size as well as produce testosterone.  When I reached Canseco's attorney, Greg Emerson he had "No Comment" and the U.S. Attorney in San Diego told me that it was an ongoing investigation and no comment either.  Canseco is due in Federal Court on Tuesday, October 14th to deal with this.  Canseco was not arrested, just detained.

In a move as shocking as dead people voting in St. Louis, Zimbabwe "President" Robert Mugabe has broken his power-sharing promises with opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai. It turns out Mugabe has seized all of the cabinet posts and put his cronies in them.

South Africa's former president, Thabo Mbeki, is expected in Harare tomorrow to try and rescue the agreement he brokered, under which Tsvangirai is appointed prime minister and Mugabe remains president but with far few powers than before.

Tsvangirai told a rally in Harare today that he would not be pressured by Mugabe into joining an administration dominated by the president's Zanu-PF party when the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) won the last reputable elections in March.

"If they do it that way, we have no right to be part of such an arrangement," said Tsvangirai. "The people have suffered. But if it means suffering the more in order for them to get what is at stake, then so be it. We will renegotiate until an agreement is reached but that does not mean we will compromise for the sake of it."

Mugabe announced the appointment of new cabinet posts this weekend, allocating his party jurisdiction over the various security and intelligence forces as well as the justice portfolio and the information ministry, which has control over Zimbabwe's highly partisan pro-Mugabe state newspapers and broadcasters.
