Evangelical Atheists Suck
Via Hot Air (where you saw it), we find this article about some atheist group angry over Mother Theresa getting a stamp. As an atheist, I'll respond. Go screw. Idjits, you're making my life difficult. They weren't upset about Martin Luther King because, so they claim, he just happened to be a minister while she was known primarily as a nun. Methinks the Reverend Martin Luther King, in one of his sermons, might have disagreed.
Good people is good people. There are few enough who deserve our respect to restrict the pool because you have a problem with their particular religion. Cool fact I didn't know until reading wikipedia about her for something I then deleted, she was born in the Ottoman Empire. Weird.
I felt the same way when I saw that story, V. It just pisses me the hell off, giving atheists everywhere a bad name. Atheists whine and whine about how no one ever has respect for their lack of beliefs, when they themselves more often than not have absolutely no respect for other's beliefs.
I've always said that most atheists I know (myself included) are some of the most faithful motherfuckers on the planet. After all, it's probably just as hard to prove that there is no God as it is to prove that there is God. Worse than the Bible-thumpers, atheists are.

Fundamentalist Athiests are what drove me back to Christianity; I finally came to the realization that any group as miserable and as hateful as that couldn't be on the right track and certainly wasn't something I'd care to claim or be claimed by.

Eh, they're just sore because Richard Dawkins won't be on a stamp anytime soon.
I left the militant side of atheism a long time ago over crap like this. Way to pick your battles guys. This one is dumb.

You know, for about an hour, as I was reading this blog, I almost forgot that Martin Luther King was black. His oratory was so transedent and his command of the languate was almost, kinda, well, you know, white.
Sorry to say, though, that I believe the reason MLk is acceptable to the leftards is because he was (really?) black. Mother Theresa was just a little old Italian kinda white woman with a bit of a moustache who didn't do anything special at all, except give her life in service to the poor.

Whoa, awesome read. I just now found your site and am already a fan.
Only in DC
So I go to a gay bar to escape Obama and the SOTU. What do they do? Project it on the wall and replace the music with the audio from the event.
1
You can never escape Obama. You should go back there in four years when we have a Republican president, and see if they play that speech. I bet they won't.

Seriously: this kind of thing is not only lower than a snake's jockstrap, it creates a real hazard of getting your weasel ass kicked by somone who actually EARNED some of those decorations you ordered online. I knew a guy (stole his girlfriend, actually) who liked to claim he was a SEAL... that lasted until he made that claim in the wrong bar, in front of someone who had actually been to BUD/S school. What was left of him ended up in a Dumpster.

When I was a drill instructor for the AF (I say drill instructor... we're actually MTI's but no one knows wtf that is), we had some dickbag (another instructor, I'm sad to say) actually get a 3 star general to award him a bronze star with a V device at parade for "some shit in the first gulf war."
If I ever find him, he's fucking dead. It was all a hoax.
And then there was that fuckstain that was my MTI trainee that wore a ranger tab he never earned.
Fucking lying sacks of shit.

If Lexicon is your favorite brand then here's a shocker, the company figured if it isn't broke, then don't fix it and grabbed an Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player and encased it into a high end chassis and listed it for $3500 -- a $3000 case, wow? We know this type of thing goes on all the time in the world of electronics, but wow, this is just unbelievable. The folks at Audioholics didn't believe it either, so they stripped the two players down and did some bench testing to reveal that indeed both were identical -- other than the case that is.
And this is why high end electronics are a scam. This happens way more often than you think. When I first started working in the manufacturing industry it was pointed out to me that there were only 3 factories making VCRs all the boards were the same it was just a change in name plates. Same with most TVs. If you know what you are doing you can actually look at the labels and tell which brands are manufactured by which companies at which factories.
1
The same principle is true across the spectrum of products. I worked for a sweater warehouse. We got shipments of sweaters from Taiwan and then wholesaled them out. We'd take the same exact sweater and sew different labels on them. Some would go to discount stores and some would go to stores like Jordan Marsh (This was around 197
.
Same exact sweater would retail for $9 at the discount store vs $30 at the department store.
Oh, and we didn't care about sizes. If an order called for a Small and we didn't have enough, we'd just take a Medium and put a Small label on it.

I still remember a Mad Magazine bit where a guy was telling a customer how great their gas was and that's why it was 10 cents more expensive than the cheap place down the street. The next panel has the driver of the deliver/tanker truck saying, "Half this load is yours, the other half goes to the station down the street."
I used to learn lots of stuff in Mad Magazine, that's why I don't trust spies or worry.

Someone give this man his World's Biggest Douche Award.
A lot of times, I'll say a story left me speechless, and then proceed to follow it up with two or three paragraphs of shit. This story really, actually left me speechless. I will say this is some seriously fucked up shit and leave it at that.

Yeah, I read about that. I'd say throw him to the wolves but why would I make the wolves touch him.
And not to make light, but the issue as to whether or not the other guy can be convicted of rape when he believed he was participating in a consensual violent scenario sounds like a law school exam question.

I know, Alex. It's weird that in this case, the rapist could easily be painted as the victim. There are women who have pretty severe rape fantasies, and such a scenario isn't completely unthinkable. But damn if the ex-boyfriend isn't the world's biggest fucking douchebag on the planet.

See, here's the thing: unlike Pat Robertson, I'm not constantly reminded of what a loon he is.
With Sullivan, I can't venture out onto the Internet for more than two days without hearing some sort of lunatic statement or other. (The point being: Robertson is so marginalized that nobody pays him any mind but, somehow, people still think Sullivan is a person to be taken seriously and, thus, we are *all* far more subjected to his ravings than Robertson so even if Robertson is just as crazy the sheer volume of nuttiness coming out of Sullivan carries the day.)
Posted by: ECM at January 13, 2010 04:15 PM (nYKDd)
They're both used in similar fashion, by leftists to beat up on The Right (cuz we're all in lockstep). With Pat they say, "See how crazy the Right is?" With Andi they say, "See? True Conservatives think the present GOP is Going Off The Rails!"
Sure, Andi's definitely much more insane, you have to weed your way through a whole of crazy to get to the gem you can use with AS.
With Robertson it's the opposite. You'll be cruising along, almost nodding along and then he shits in the punchbowl. But... I'd say Pat Robertson is more influential, he's been around forever, he must have some following outside the ranks of our fine media hit-men.
Saying that, how do we know that voodoo wasn't involved? I mean, maybe they got in a voodoo fight with the Dominican Republic and lost.

The only people that Robertson has influence with are crazies like himself: Sullivan, as you noted, is used as a cudgel to beat us with going both ways.

Pat was being foolish and biblically unsound suggesting that God may have had a hand in their problems. When you put a bunch of sub morons in charge of a bunch of other sub morons you get Haiti or Detroit and that's all there is to it.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Brennan was asked why the Obama
administration did not choose to treat Abdulmutallab as an enemy
combatant. "He was arrested on U.S. soil," Brennan answered. "The
Department of Justice makes that determination about what is the best
tool to use {with this crew in charge? We're screwed-ed}."
{But if the guy had had a copy of a Glenn Beck book on his body, he'd be the lone resident of Gitmo forever-ed}
Pressed about reports Abdulmutallab stopped talking to investigators
after he was given a lawyer and read his Miranda rights, Brennan said,
"We have an array of tools that we will use" in the case {and what are they? Asking the ACLU what to do next?-ed}.
"[Abdulmutallab] was in fact talking to people who were detaining
him…Just because somebody is going to be put into the criminal legal
process doesn't mean we don't have other opportunities to get
information from him."
{and you'll squander those opportunities as well-ed}
Anybody see the problem with the above inset?
After that, this story only gets better.
Brennan also said the Obama administration will continue to send
Guantanamo detainees to Yemen. "Absolutely," he said. "We're going to
be working closely with the Yemeni government." {you mean Yemen has a functioning Government? Color me shocked! So far, Yemen doesn't seem too interested in holding terrorists-ed}Brennan added:
"Guantanamo must be closed…It has served as a propaganda tool for al
Qaeda. {so does jihadi snuff pron and the promise of a free goat to fuck every night. So should we eliminate that as well?-ed}"

I still think we're going to see some major wars in the spring, Georgia and Israel aren't invading themselves you know. And who knows, if Iran and Russia get into the act, maybe NoKo will get frisky too.
On the upside, we won't have to worry too much about Obama's sorry handling of the War on (Some) Terror, he'll be too busy fucking up the real wars.

The leftist method of protecting the country is so cool, and good too.
I think allowing these guys to punch us in the face is the best method to get them to stop punching us in the face.
It is a genius idea, very smart, tough, and smart. Extremely so.
And Obama, President Obama, wow, what a massive mind. Genius even. We have no ability to understand the chess game he's playing right now, just brilliant.

The explosive device smuggled in the clothing of the Detroit bomb suspect would not have been detected by body-scanners set to be introduced in British airports, an expert on the technology warned last night.
…
Since the attack was foiled, body-scanners, using "millimetre-wave" technology and revealing a naked image of a passenger, have been touted as a solution to the problem of detecting explosive devices that are not picked up by traditional metal detectors – such as those containing liquids, chemicals or plastic explosive.
But Ben Wallace, the Conservative MP, who was formerly involved in a project by a leading British defence research firm to develop the scanners for airport use, said trials had shown that such low-density materials went undetected.
Tests by scientists in the team at Qinetiq, which Mr Wallace advised before he became an MP in 2005, showed the millimetre-wave scanners picked up shrapnel and heavy wax and metal, but plastic, chemicals and liquids were missed.
If a material is low density, such as powder, liquid or thin plastic – as well as the passenger's clothing – the millimetre waves pass through and the object is not shown on screen. High- density material such as metal knives, guns and dense plastic such as C4 explosive reflect the millimetre waves and leave an image of the object.
I would say that this just points out the need for a comprehensive security screening system that focuses on the mental state of the person as well as the physical characteristics.

Well, appearing naked seems to shame fundamentalist muslims. I imagine just that would have a deterent effect.
Maybe we can give them pictures after passing through the scanner like you get after riding a roller coaster.

Just to start the new year out right, another helping of Fan Fiction Friday
In which Superman is anally abused by a grammatically impaired busty blond porn star.
These fanfics are so wrong, so very very wrong, but at the same time so amusing. I am probably headed for a special Kryptonian hell for laughing so hard at this one.
1
Larry Niven wrote about what would have happened had Superman been real. During his adolescence his wet dreams would be flying all over town impregnating every egg they came across for instance. Sometimes repeatedly as a "hard" egg wall wouldn't be hard to "super" sperm. He really delved deeply into how Clark's super powers would affect sex.
It was kind of creepy. Not hobbits fucking trees creepy, but still pretty darn creepy.

I used to write fan fiction for movies when I was a teenager (basically amounted to me including a character that was similar to myself). I couldn't imagine writing something this BAD and disturbing.
Which reminds me: Bennett the Sage on That Guy With The Glasses is currently doing his Masterpiece Fanfic Theater series on the more infamous story from Fanfiction.com, My Immortal. I couldn't read the thing past the third chapter because of all the grammatical and spelling mistakes (future English teacher, after all), but listening to Sage read it, it sounds like she starts each chapter complaining about the "preps" who don't like her story.

Who wrote the article a few days ago? was it simon at classical values? About how it's unfair to crap on aquaman, because DC's hero's are all ridiculously powerful?
MY Question about superman.
With all his powers, why isn't there world peace or a powerful dictatotorship?
Superman has almost always been a joke in my mind, he never had to suffer weakness, like spidey, Or Ironman, or the various conflicts most of the X-men have, not to mention Wolvies conflicts of personality while trying to become a better and more noble person rather than the feral beast he is.
DC has a bunch of characters who are all supermen with so much power, that there is really nothing engaging about them (with the sole exception of Batman and "nightwing" and whatever group it was nightwing founded, wich is really just "the new mutants.")

I'd love to be Superman for a week. First off, I'd shave off the poofy-haired maniac's poofy hair and Castro's and all the mad mullah's beards. That might not bring whirled peas, but it would make me laugh. Then I'd do the whole "destroy bad guy's weapons" thing. But first with the shaving.
