Funny, that.

Have you ever noticed how there's never any in-fighting in the Democratic Party?

Kinda odd, doncha think?

Being coherent was never Meghan McCain's strong suit

She said the GOP needs to be more open to sex.  Then, Gov. Mark Sanford takes her advice and fraternizes with a Wise Latina WomanTM, and she acts all sad for the Republican Party

What gives, MegMeg?

Do you remember Rock 'n' Roll radio?

Well, if Congress and the recording industry get their way, it's just going to be a memory.

Sure, most of the stuff that gets played on FM these days is complete and utter shit, but there are still stations out there that I can bear to listen to.  For example, I've become a fan of stations like this one, which seem to have abandoned the concept of a specific format. When you can hear songs by  The Clash, James Brown, and Whitesnake played in a row, I think that's kinda cool.

(Okay, Whitesnake isn't really that cool at all, but Tawny Kitaen was pretty hot before she went all crazy and smacked Chuck Finley with her shoe.)

Moral Equivalence Evil

I'll quote St. Andrew of the Blessed Heart-Ache and his dictator-fellating buddy Juan without linking either:

Juan Cole makes a sharp point. The mass protests in Iran would not be allowed in the US either. And they weren't allowed in the US under Bush-Cheney:
The number of demonstrators arrested in Tehran on Saturday is estimated at 550 or so, which is less than those arrested by the NYPD for protesting Bush policies in 2004.
And how many of them were shot dead in the streets during those protests? How many of their families were charged for the bullets that wiped them out? How can you continue to be a fucking human being when your hatred for one man who you once supported now leads you to compare the arrests of 2004 RNC protesters to what is happening in Iran today?

You are a fake man. You are a lie. I would cast you out from humanity. I would call you a fraud, were there not historical frauds better than you. You have never believed in anything. Your supposed outrage at what is going on has nothing to do with what is going on in Iran. It has everything to do with you, Andrew. You feel like your politics and your political issues du jour should be addressed, and when they aren't, you fuss like a little baby.

To quote a gay man with much more integrity than you've ever had, "You go to hell and you die!"

The Next Time You Shop For A Wedding Dress

Just make sure this guy isn't around.

The 35-year-old man threw a flower pot at the glass door of the bridal shop in the Bavarian town of Wildflecken, police reported Wednesday.

The burglar rummaged through the racks, apparently finding nothing suitable. He fled the scene but had been cut by glass shards when he broke the glass doors.

Police were able to track him down by following the trail of blood he left. The police could not explain why the man was unclothed.

I could make a joke about Rosetta going on a shopping spree, but I'll pass for now.

Zombie Castro Is Not Amused

Nice to see his son is a doofus, gullible, and on the internet.

Luis Dominguez said he used the character to begin an online relationship with Antonio. Capitalizing on the younger Castro's purported interest in young women and sports, Dominguez says he snared Antonio Castro by posing as a 27-year-old female Colombian sports journalist named Claudia.

Dominguez refused to apologize for the deception, saying he wanted to show the "opulent lifestyles" of the Castros.

"I'm a Cuban and I'm a Cuban American and I have not been able to go back to my country since 1971 when I left.

"I use whatever tools I have to be able to get back at these people. In Cuba people are put in prison for no reason at all. Their rights are violated ... So, why can't I do the same thing to them? I have no remorse whatsoever," he told the BBC.

Pot calls kettle crazier than a shithouse rat

In a post titled "The Trainwreck Of Sarah Palin," in which he derides the Palins for having the temerity to speak out against David Letterman's attacks against members of their family, noted obsessive maniac Andrew Sullivan calls Alaska's Governor "the Wasilla nutcase." Writes the actual nutcase (no link per dpud editorial policy):

So brandishing a special needs infant as a campaign prop was putting your family off-limits? Pushing your own daughter into the klieglights to divert attention from your own fantastic lies is family-protective?
St. Andrew doesn't go into specifics, but one might assume that the "fantastic lies" he refers to are the bugfuck crazy conspiracy theories he himself has promoted about that same special-needs infant being, actually, her granddaughter. Andi also does not provide examples (i.e links) of Palin's baby being used as a "campaign prop."

Hopefully, someday, he'll get the care he needs. Unfortunately, I'm not sure ObamaCare covers his kind of dementia. How ironic, huh?

I may not respect the man...

...but I at least respect the office:

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn209/doubleplusundeadnu/6a00d83451c45669e201156ffc82c6970c-.jpg

Look, the odds that I'll ever be within ten feet of President Obama are slim to nil, tending more toward the latter, but if I ever was to get that close, you can be damn sure I wouldn't be wearing sneakers and an un-tucked shirt, much less...flip-flops. Seriously, what the fuck is going on with the guy in the foreground? Have we gone through some sort of wormhole where corporate "casual Friday" rules don't even apply when you're talking to the leader of the free world?

Oh, who am I kidding? He's probably the guy who's running one of our banks or automakers now. After cutting his teeth as a college dropout campaign worker.

The pic comes via noted "conservative" Andrew Sullivan (no link, of course) who is clearly still pining for his kewl imaginary baby daddy...

I can't imagine many previous [presidents] just hanging out like this "outside the U.S. Ambassador's residence in Paris". So sue me, Mr Hanson. There's something natural about this guy that evokes real support and affection. And that bond is not fraying. In some ways, it's deepening.
*barf*

Top Ten Rejected Late Show Monologue Jokes

I started writing this post with intentions of making a bunch of jokes about current news stories that were in as bad taste as Letterman's statutory rape joke but I had to stop.

Turns out that each of the 'jokes' I wrote were depressingly unfunny and completely over all lines of common decency and decorum.

The lesson?  If someone with as sick a sense of humor as me can't laugh at my own jokes in that vein, it is clear that Letterman went way, way over the line.

I'd demand that he be punished but I think being a washed-up, unfunny, miserable comedian is punishment enough.  I'd stop watching his show but I haven't been masochistic enough to watch it in years.

Virginia: You are officially teh stoopid.

Honestly, after Govs. Warner and Kaine, you still believe that a "conservative" Democrat* will govern from the center.

Really Virginia, really?

One of the best things about living in the District is the knowledge that I'll never be let down by Republicans being tricked into supporting a Democrat who says they're conservative.  Our Democrats are crack addicts and they still get elected.

Har de har har!

Boy, there's nothing funnier than statutory rape! (As long as the victim is the child of someone with whom you disagree.)

Via Moe Lane, who notes that Letterman is making a joke at the expense of 14-year-old Willow Palin. Note the audience reaction.

Dan Collins is tough but fair in his response.

Oddly enough, there doesn't seem to be any mention of this from some of the top "feminist" bloggers. You'd think they might strenuously object to an old man making a joke about the statutory rape of an underage girl, but...silence so far. Huh. Strange, no?

Well, er, no.

Update: The NYT has a transcript of Letterman's monologue. Curiously, one of his jokes goes unmentioned. Strange, no?

Well, er, no. Again. Yeah.

NRO's outing of lefty blogger in poor taste

Most of us write here using pseudonyms, and there are many legitimate reasons to use a pseudonym over an actual name, privacy, keeping your business/personal life and political life separate, and safety as well.  Apparently one of the NRO writers doesn't think so, and outed the identity of a lefty blogger at a site called Obsidian Wings.

I'm in agreement with Ed (Morrissey, not Whalen), this lefty blogger at Obsidian shouldn't have been outed, unless he had done something threatening or criminal, was excessively abusive, libelous or slanderous, or had outed someone else, but I don't see anywhere where this guy at Obsidian did anything to justify getting outed.  Strong disagreement is not enough to out someone.  I can pretty much guarantee that Ed Whalen's douchebaggery is the only thing I'd agree with this guy on at this stage, but there it is.

The dangers of an open mic

Ha! So, I’m watching the Dodgers play the Phillies on Fox, and Dodger center fielder Matt Kemp struck out looking to end the bottom of the tenth inning. Kemp didn't like the call, and you couldn’t hear what he said (it was easy enough to guess, though) but you could clearly hear the plate umpire say “No, I am NOT fucking kidding you.”

I have a feeling they may be hearing from the FCC.
