Cheney II: The 'Stache

Allah is hit and miss with his "quotes of the day". Sometimes I can't figure out why he's linking.
In this one, I actually found a quote of the day in one of the links to stories about Bolton
Quote
I am a plain-speaker, and in America, plain speaking is a virtue. Although they may not say it publicly, foreign diplomats will tell you in private that they think it’s a virtue, too. People want to know where America stands.’

And Bingo was his name-o.
The free world is finding out that there are worse things than a cowboy-American running roughshod over good manners and liberal pieties.

I don't think Bolton has a chance in hell of being president, but I think he could be a Cheney-like VP. Especially considering the times. Americans are ready to listen to stuff like that and Minitru is not trusted so it's harder to twist.
Cheney's job was to say common-sense stuff in such a way as to drive the NYTimesWashPostCNNABCCBSNBCetc. into a frothing frenzy. They would report what he said all OUTRAGED!!!!! but your average American would say, "Huh, but that makes sense."
He's about the only Republican who could get his message out undiluted, altered or spun. You know, unless that Republican was bashing Republicans.

Barring Sarah Palin, I think he would be a good choice for VP for someone.
Palin wouldn't need him as VP and she's almost as good as Cheney so she could be a similar VP.

FrnakJr!

Scary as it sounds, FrnakJ is a Father!
I find it easier to think of SarahK as being a mother, but I'm happy for both of them.
Update:
FrnakJ's Basil personality is looking for parenting suggestions so go help him out.

All. The. Awesome.

While I am loathe to bump down the Hotassery, the new video at the Head Moron's deserves the love.

15 Years Ago Tonight...

The most beautiful person in the world entered into my life. The beautiful young lass who fate and good fortune sent my way would eventually become my wife, the mother of the most precious gift ever bestowed upon me, my true companion down the sometimes crater filled road that is life, the one person I trust unfailingly, and all I need to visualize in my brain when I am backed up and need to offend Christine O'Donnell.

Thank you to Mother Gaia, or whatever is out there, for bringing her my way, despite all of my faults and flaws. It's sometimes been rough and difficult, but the journey and adventure has been a fucking blast. So here's to you, my dear.

So I bear good news for Alex.  This might actually make me start watching CSI again.

SharktoWin!

Okay, so far Sharktopus is one of the best, I'd say it's provisionally better than Pterodactyl and moving in on Megashark vs Giant Octopus.

The bungee jumping girl was funny.

It could at least have said thanks.

You could see the gold coin deal coming, but it was still funny.

Don't we need that?

Cool story about a test flight of a B-52H back in '64.

So the flight got kind of rough and they couldn't figure out what was wrong when someone noticed the vertical tail fin was gone (I think it was William Shatner).
RTWT, it's pretty interesting.

Both of those blogs are interesting if for different reasons. The first one is math kind of guy, I've never seen that one before, Sensing is interesting.
The first guy had a link to the "Particle Physics Song". It's geeky cool (i.e. not cool at all), you'll have to click "more" to see it.

Shamarkto....sharkmopot......SHARKTOPUS!

Outta the way Megashark vs Giant Octopus, there's a new mouth on the block.
Saturday at 8pm, all our worst nightmares are about to be ignored, but hey, at least we get some new schlocky peroxide/silicon fest.
And that ain't bad.

Yes, Sharktopus is on the way, and , from watching the trailer, I think it eats bikinis.
The only disappointment? It only has one mouth. Oh well.

Awesome TV starts up again tonight.

Katey Sagal should have won an Emmy for last season. It's a travesty that she wasn't even nominated.  And I can't even begin to figure out what direction they're going to go this season; I thought I had it puzzled out and then I read something on Kurt Sutter's* blog that makes me think I've got it all wrong.

*Yeah, he's a total lefty.  But the mental disorder that goes along with being that far out in moonbatland means that you're adept at creating some great believable fiction.

Does the Texas State Fair last through the first weekend in October?

Why yes, it does!

This seems like an awesome way to grow a beer belly.

Inventor Mark Zable said it had taken him three years to come up with the cooking method and a patent for the process is pending. He declined to say whether any special ingredients were involved.

His deep-fried beer will be officially unveiled in a fried food competition at the Texas state fair later this month.

ZOMG YOU GUYS SRSLY

Duke Nukem Lives!  I so thought the collapse of 3d Realms was gonna be the end of it, and I thought the legal clusterfuck between Take Two and what remained of 3d Realms would kill DNF forever.  There's only one game that could really bring me back into gaming, and that's Duke Nukem Forever.  I am so friggin' excited, you mouthbreathers have no idea.

You should be ashamed of yourselves (I'm looking at you MP)

Teddy Kennedy has been clean and sober for one year.
Well, sober anyway.
And MP didn't even give him credit for it.

Most of that joke was stolen from Say Uncle in the comments at Marooned.

Now here's a plan we can all rally behind

As always, Frank J has the solution to our problems.

My personal fave part?

But what do ambitious, capable people do in this country? They start their own businesses and lead successful lives comfortably away from the fickleness of the ballot box. So that just leaves the people who are ambitious but useless and just love the thought of being able to meddle in all the useful things everyone else is doing. And then the whole election process, where the politicians constantly lie and change their positions on issues to keep their jobs, tends to weed out the people who aren’t also sociopaths. So the system we have has basically set us up to be governed by ambitious, useless sociopaths who love to meddle in everything actual contributors to society are doing. So lawyers, for the most part.

It's funny because it's true!

My kingdom for a poll!

Why should the Head Moron have all the fun?

According to Rasmussen, Republicans are now more trusted than Democrats on all 10 of the issues in the poll.

I think it's fascinating that the only issue on which either party has over 50% is on taxes.

Hay, can he do that?

That's just pure win.
Question, is that MP? It has to be Wisconsin.
