The bungee jumping girl was funny.
It could at least have said thanks.
You could see the gold coin deal coming, but it was still funny.

All the right people got et even if a few who didn't deserve it did too.
I'll call that a win. I'd rate it higher than Megashark vs Giant Octopus. Much more silicone and far less clothing on everybody involved.
The kid on the zipline was almost as funny as the bungee jumper, I wish they hadn't shown the bungee scene in the trailer.

What a joke that was!
Posted by: Robert at September 26, 2010 06:24 AM (IEh7K)
Of course it was a joke. It was supposed to be a cheesy, schlocky, occasionally funny hot-bod fest.
And they delivered.
They also corrected the biggest flaw in Megashark vs Giant Octopus, lack of silicone.
But then, I still watch Rocky Horror Picture show so maybe I'm not the best person to talk to about crap movies.
Posted by: Veeshir at September 26, 2010 07:44 AM (BvwX+)
Yeah, Robert - it supposed to be so nose-rottingly bad its good. Whats interesting to me is that sci-fi chan. etc can get all these "I've at least heard of 'em" actors and actresses - like George Taki and Kelly McGillis and Joanna Pacula and Lou Diamond "Chubby" Phillips (the list is endless) - to even agree to make the films.
Maybe its a college/acting school thing? Maybe the Heard of 'ems contribute their modest (and I do mean modest) talent towards helping some struggling student-directors and student-actors? And student cameramen and set people and costumes, and special FX and CGI, etc.

I find most of these SyFy (gah, I just hate typing that -- fuck the name change) original movies incredibly tedious -- and I'm a huge schlock-horror fan. But, against my better judgment, I dvr'd this one last night ... we'll see.
Oh, and RHPS is really only good in a theater full of fans, with live actors on stage in front of the film, with everyone dressed up and doing the time warp in the aisles, throwing TP, etc.
Posted by: Hermit Dave at September 26, 2010 01:50 PM (sqGe2)
I prefer other manners.
Steamboat, I figure they get paid more money than opening supermarkets and more face time than commercials for other directors to see so they jump at the chance.
At the beginning of the movie I was thinking, "If Tommy Lee Jones hadn't been born, Eric Roberts would have most of his parts."
And then, I saw Roberts' acting "skills" and realized that Michael Pare would get those roles before Roberts.
And I like Eric Roberts.
And I'm pretty baffled by Michael Pare's entire career.
I love RHPS, Hudson Hawk, Ford Fairlane and even, gasp, Howard the Duck.
I'm pretty sure that puts me far outside the mainstream so my taste in movies and actors is suspect.

The B-52, Fisher said, "Is the finest airplane I ever flew."
I grew up near Beale AFB, a huge SAC base in those days (it was later home to SR71 Blackbird testing, later still the U2 - I know U2 pilot Brian Shul, a name worth a google - and is/was vying for the Global Hawk base).
In the late '50's through the '60's, there were B52's over the neighborhood's - often at only a few hundred feet - every few minutes (often with a white T38 - at least, I think I remember they were T-38s - chase planes flying wingman ...and looking miniscule by comparison). On country drives out Hammonton Road (east, to the Sierra foothills) as a teenager, you could see the enormous tails of these things rising up out of the gently rolling hills as you approached the North Gate.
When I was in the local JC, my karate instructor was a staff sergeant from the base, and he had this great story ("great" = terrifying) of when he was working high on the tail section with a crew, and the scaffolding broke ...and he was the only survivor, attributing it to his karate training skills: he broke an ankle).
But that picture. OMFG.

Outta the way Megashark vs Giant Octopus, there's a new mouth on the block.
Saturday at 8pm, all our worst nightmares are about to be ignored, but hey, at least we get some new schlocky peroxide/silicon fest.
And that ain't bad.
Yes, Sharktopus is on the way, and , from watching the trailer, I think it eats bikinis.
The only disappointment? It only has one mouth. Oh well.

Katey Sagal should have won an Emmy for last season. It's a travesty that she wasn't even nominated. And I can't even begin to figure out what direction they're going to go this season; I thought I had it puzzled out and then I read something on Kurt Sutter's* blog that makes me think I've got it all wrong.
*Yeah, he's a total lefty. But the mental disorder that goes along with being that far out in moonbatland means that you're adept at creating some great believable fiction.

They blonde guy who looks like Kurt Cobain got somewhat tiresome with his moping around. I mean I get that his son is missing and someone close to him died (not sure of the relationship) at the end of last season. Sure I'd be depressed too, but endless pauses and thoughtful reflection don't make good TV.
I'll give it one more week.

This seems like an awesome way to grow a beer belly.
Inventor Mark Zable said it had taken him three years to come up with the cooking method and a patent for the process is pending. He declined to say whether any special ingredients were involved. His deep-fried beer will be officially unveiled in a fried food competition at the Texas state fair later this month.
