1 Personally, I am ambivalent about this issue, but I wonder if Obama is trying to align himself, ironically, with the Libertarians. But, once pot is legal and the War on Terror is emasculated, what else will the Libertarians have to bitch about, since they long ago seemed to ignore taxes and the like?

Aligning with the Libertarian Party or aligning with libertarians?  Most libertarians like me think the Libertarian party has been hijacked by a bunch of nutcases.

I'm all for legalizing pot, even though I haven't had a puff for over 20 years, nor would I were it to be legalized.  At the same time, I believe in a strong national defense (and in this modern world, the best defense is most definitely a good offense), fiscal conservatism, etc. etc.

Abandoning the expensive failure that is the war on drugs (or at least the pot portion) is entirely compatible with strong borders and other sensible policy.

I have nothing aginst the Libertarians. I just wish the voices from the 90s angling for a smaller Government and lower taxes would come back.

4 Amen, Eddie, and Dave, totally agree, the War on Drugs is a total failure, and you're talking to a guy who hasn't even been drunk, never even seen weed in real life.
