Stupid question of the day
I need to buy some darts as a gift, I'd like to find some decent ones in the under-$25 range (they're for amateur dart players). I'm guessing at least one of you has spent entirely too much time in a bar and can educate me on the finer nuances of what to buy.
You dot teh ghey
Kinda interesting piece on ICANN (the people who establish .whatever on the intarwebs), and two parties competing to purchase, establish and operate the .gay domain. Both of the parties are for-profit organizations, one is run by gay activists in NYC, the other is a European businessman, who isn't gay. The dudes in NYC are arguing that a straight dude shouldn't be the one who gets .gay, which seems kinda discriminatory. Hey, maybe the guy would do an awesome job running the domain, better than them, never know. It's going to be interesting to see what ICANN allows as the intarwebs expands, what the criteria will be for the domains, and what the criteria will be for choosing who gets to buy and run them.
So I have to ask, will Robert Smigel buy up ambiguously.gay ?
Clapton is a Racist Hitler!Don McLean taught me something today. I knew that in the 50s men were men and men were white so black groups couldn't be played on "white" station so they had some white bands do their songs.
But I didn't realize that was the origin of the word "cover". According to Don A “cover” version of a song is a racist tool.
Computer problems finally solved and I am back for real
Don't know whether that counts as good or bad in your books but living on a laptop has blown chunks so I am damn happy.
As a part of the fix I upgraded to Windows 7 and so far I am fairly impressed. Install was very fast and very smooth. Memory footprint is a lot smaller than Vista as is the OS size itself. Pretty much have it customized the way I want with a little less than an hours work. Need to set-up a backup tonight and get Office installed again and I am ready to go. Unless something incredible stupid happens in the next day or two I am going to say MS did pretty good here.
In celebration of my newly regained internet freedom I give you
I really wish Mary Katharine Ham had followed the lead of some other blogs and posted a picture of, say, herself, instead of Helen Thomas, so as not to require the eyebleach. In other words, there's a picture over there that is gonna make you double over in pain.
Inspired by the post at the Head Moron's regarding what happened to Jenette Goldstein. Yes, that's Lance Henricksen. Yes, that's Adrian Pasdar. Yes, that's Bill Paxton. Yes, that's the male secretary from ER. And yes, that's the fat kid from River's Edge. Who wasn't really fat but boy does he have a round face.
