I guess 18-month-old girls aren't as enamored of the sound of four massive jet engines several hundred feet above their heads as I am.
The sound of freedom, indeed. Inspiring.

Wait till she's 3. Took my daughter to her first air show this summer (she turns 3 on Tuesday) and she adored it. She thinks every plane is going to see her "Nana" and when she hears multiple fighter jets at once, she becomes giddy with ecstacy.
'Course, she also tells me in the middle of loud thunderstorms that there's nothing to be afraid of - "it's just noise, Mommy," - and calls fireworks "pretty thunder". I think she may just like loud noises.

And let's be very specific:
The Sound Of Fredom =
What you hear overhead. as you pray to your god and snuggle your M-16, in response to a combat controller or a FACP calling in an airstrike, regardless of the aircraft. That's the sound of freedom. Been there.
