, I can't imagine it's gonna do well with consumers, even hippies, because hippies already own Priuses, Chevys are American anyway, so they have no appeal to liberals to begin with. I see one of two things coming down the pike, either regulatory schemes come down to try and force people to buy them, more gov't rebates, tax breaks and incentives to buy them, or this rolling hunk of crap is gonna become the car of government institutions. My gut tells me that we're gonna see a loooooot of Chevy Volts sitting in municipal and state parking lots.

If I
made married into as much money as John Kerry, I'd buy one and set it on fire.

A few years ago, there was a thing about an electric boat and a bunch of environmentalists were raving about it.
A local radio host said "YEAH! an electric boat is GREAT!, GREAT for the environment, it's not like we are burning all kinds of coal to produce the electricity or driving cars that burn oil or able to reliably count on the batteries in case something happens while out on the lake, but other than that? GREAT IDEA!"
It was a pretty funny riff, demonstrating the blatant hypocracy of enviro's, because electricity actually causes MORE of the polution enviro's hate than gasoline, but who cares, there is a cutout so the get to feel good.

Chevys are American anyway, so they have no appeal to liberals to begin with.I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're probably right. The thing that gets me about this car is that it isn't an electric car. Its a hybrid. It apparently gets 40 miles on batteries only, then uses a gasoline engine. Wouldn't surprise me if any modern hybrid could make 40 miles on batteries alone.
40 miles ... in daytime, no rain, don't use the a/c don't even turn on the radio.

I still want to try one off road. The real test of a car is how far into the woods you can go before it becomes a permenant fixture in the landscape.

Aside from the stupidity of this car, I don't see anyone talking about the price. Even with the big tax incentive they give, this car is way out of my price range. Couldn't afford one even if I wanted one of these pieces of crap.
