I Saw Spartacus!
Has anybody else watched it?
It was very darn good, I'm not into slasher films so this got a little much for me occasionally, especially the last episode, but the story and characters were all excellent.
Below the fold because there are spoilers.
Update, I changed the pic. Now it's safe for work.
Wow. The last 4 episodes were all fantastic.
Party Favors was private gladiating. I was actually upset when they killed Varro. It really made you understand what being a slave was all about. Only Spartacus refused to accept it. To the rest, who were conditioned to be slaves, it was what happened.
Then in the next episode, Old Wounds, they brought a bunch of stuff together in a way that was beautiful. When Asher handed the ring to the other guy, I knew what was coming. A beautiful scam that had me fooled.
The second to last episode set up the last episode pretty well, the only problem I had was the way Batiatus blackmailed the Legatus. I'd bet a dollar in real life a few dozen trusted legionnaires would have paid a visit the next night. Eh, nobody's perfect. But they're pretty darn good. The Asher bit from the previous episode and there was twice, once in The Pit and once in this episode, when they wrote themselves into a corner where I expected a wandering wizard to keep Spartacus alive but they kept him alive and I bought it both times. They were not just plausible, but totally acceptable.
The last episode was very aptly named: Kill Them All. Except for Crixus' love, they kept all the hottest women too.
I can't wait for the next season.
Spartacus leads an army against at least one legion and I think a couple. Katrina Law (she of the blog) is going to have a big part, she won't be casually handed out as a party favor anymore so they're going to have to get creative to get her clothes off, I have faith in them.
And they saved the hot, blond Roman wench. She doesn't need an excuse to get nekkid.
And for bi-partisan ship, they're still showing full, frontal nudity.
I'm not bi-partisan on the pics though. Sorry.
Here's The hot Roman I was talking about.

She kissed Xena every show she was on.

I can't wait for the next season.
There's a major delay on the next season since Andy Whitfield has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He's under treatment and they're hopeful but obviously shooting is majorly delayed.
There's some discussion of doing a prequel to fill in and use the sets in the meantime.

Crap. Oh well, hopefully the cast and crew stay together. Too many changes could screw it up.

I love this show. When i find myself emotionally invested in the characters then that means they really did something right. And dear god is Katrina Law hot. Its almost painful to watch her with those damn sexy ummm....... freckles.

Yeah, I never get emotionally invested in tv show characters unless it's darn good, and this one got me.
The Varro bit really got to me.
As for Katrina Law and teh hotness. Yes. Smoking hot.
I was surprised they killed off Xena and Batiatus.
They'll kill off anybody, pretty much the only people they can't kill are Spartacus and Crixus, unless they totally ignore the name of the show and real history.
