There's a reason you're not supposed to feed the wildlife.

Update: Law enforcement didn't end up killing a bear over this.  They killed four.  Two while trying to retrieve the woman's body, two a few months ago when a caretaker at the woman's cabin called to report the bears in the area were too aggressive.
