For Alexthechick

No it's not shoes. I don't do shoeblogging unless they have a phone in the heel or a knife or machine gun in the toe. It's the latest World of Warcraft trailer. I have to say it isn't near as good as the trailers for Burning Crusade and Lich King and the expansion doesn't sound that impressive. but I am sure it will sell a bajillion copies.

All you other WoW players are welcome to enjoy too I just don't picture sitting at work squealing like a little girl and scaring the piss out of your co-workers.

1 Considering that I let out a squeal and did the clappyhands before I even played the trailer, your mental image of my reaction was accurate.

2 Well, I did get The Looks when I said "look IT'S ON FIRE" and clappyhanded more so there's a strong possibility, yes.

3 I'm more excited about the fact that they're making a Heroic SFK.  My favorite instance!

4 My favorite instance!

I almost never do instances or raids since I, what's the word, suck at playing my class (80 blood elf warlock).  However, I'm having tons of fun trying to get the classic dungeons achievement.  Ohhhh single shotting a dungeon boss is sweet.

5 BE Warlock?  Suits you!  (and that is meant to be a compliment).  My wife prefers her Cow-lady Druid.  Seriously though, if you didn't spend a lot of time doing old world instances, head down to Shadowfang, turn up the ambient music and walk through the place.  Oh and Hellfire should get you through pretty much all the trash no problem.

6 I do not play WoW (I spend enough time at work listening to everyone else talk about their WoW characters), but I showed the video to a good friend of mine who happened to be over and he literally shook me by the shoulders, picked me up, and bearhugged me for showing him the video.  He then ran off shouting something about having to call his brother.

7 Everything I know about WoW I learned from South Park.

So, did that fat guy ever come back?

Eh...I'm not sure how I feel about this yet.  I've only been playing for about a year (actually, thanks to some of ATC's posts when Lich King was released, I decided to finally let my inner nerd be free, so thanks for the new addiction to add to the list, Alex) and I still haven't gotten over being pissed about the last patch.

I'm all about new content but it was kind of a flying eff you to those of us who've spent hours running heroic raids to learn the fights and earn gear.  Now any yahoo who manages to make it to 80 and doesn't mind running repetitive and ridiculously easy heroic instances can get as geared as I am in a few weeks.  Same with PVP, it used to actually take some effort to build a respectable pvp set.

But whatever, it’ll be nice to be able to fly in Azeroth at least   So that’s something…

Follow-up thought (since this is a political blog).

In the age of Obama, even our video games are being socialized where high achievers are getting screwed in the interest of "fairness".  In the case of WoW it's to close the "gear gap" (see: wage gap, spreading the wealth around, etc...) so everyone can experience new content whether they've earned it or not.

Ok, done.
